My wife is pregnant right now, so I've done quite a bit of learning about the subject lately. It is most definitely NOT healthy to attempt to lose weight while pregnant. You need to gain at LEAST 25lb during pregnancy. Remember, when we try to lose fat, we are forcing our bodies to metabolize the body tissues we already…

I'm very confident, and have no issues at all in any social situations. It's a nice place to be. Once I get this last 10 or so pounds off of me I'll be even more confident. I couldn't be more opposite of how I was back in my school days. The only time I'm not as confident is with my shirt off, which is why I'm still…

Lose bodyfat. It will be the last thing to go, so just lose fat. That's all you can do.

He needs to eat a lot of fat. SImple as that. The good thing is that it's easy to add fat to things. 1. Olive oil is amazing when it comes to adding calories to a meal. 2. Take chicken, cut it into strips, wrap bacon around it, grill it, then put cheese on top. You've just doubled the calories for your chicken meal, and it…

Pain is a good guide to use. If a muscle is achy or sore but you've given it at least 48 hours to rest, go at it again UNLESS there is actual pain. Also pay attention to where the feeling is originating. If it's in the joints and/or tendons, then you've got other issues to deal with and pushing through soreness could get…

First off, you didn't lose muscle mass. There are literally dozens and dozens of reasons why you may have lost weight during your vacation. First off, drinking that much may have flushed out some water weight because alchohol is a diuretic. Also, things like changes in salt intake can have an effect. Sometimes just…

Once again, I'm not really sure where people are getting the idea that we're talking about eating all yoour food in one sitting. First and foremost, the article just suggests moving breakfast back a couple hours. That's it. Secondly, even when I'm doing IF I eat throughout the day, starting around 3 in the afternoon. I…

OP here. As this thread slows down I just want to reiterate that I chose the title of this thread based on the hopes that it would get people to read the article. I don't believe this article is definitive, but I also don't like that we are told over and over things like "breakfast is the most important meal of the day!" I…

Exactly. That's not what we're talking about here, which is fairly obvious.

Ok. . .here goes; When you break your nightly fast you DO in fact get a small bump to your metabolic levels. HOWEVER, this small bump is not enough to actually BURN OFF the extra calories you eat during breakfast. So lets say, purely hypothetically, that you eat a 300 calorie breakfast. Yay for you, because you got a…

I've heard of people having success with this method as well. I'm glad it worked so well for you. One thing I've always believed is, if you want to know how to cut fat, ask a bodybuilder.
-
Sounds good to me, and congrats of reaching your goals! (no sarcasm here, just referencing the fact that you reached the goal in your signature.)
-
WHY? Please, tell me, WHY do we need to eat breakfast if we aren't hungry? I look forward to hearing what you have to say, since you've spoken so definitively.
-
See, this I have no problem with what-so-ever. If you're reason for eating breakfast is because you like it, and you feel that it sets you up for success, then thats a GREAT thing! The problem is that there are lots of people eating breakfast only because they've been told that they "should". THIS is what I have a huge…

You can still eat your cereal! I eat lots of breakfast foods. Some days all I have are bacon, eggs, sausage, and cheese. You just won't eat it outside of your eating window with IF. To be honest, if I could go back I wouldn't have written anything in my original post. I would have made the same title, and just put the link…

Trust me, you were'nt overweight because of what you DIDN'T eat. None of us are/were.
-
oh. my. holy. god. Is someone playing a joke on me right now? Where's the hidden camera?
-
YES! That, and don't believe everything you hear. Yup, that's pretty much it.
-
Wow, you guys have been busy while I've been sleeping! First I'll touch on my caloric intake, as a response to those who wondered. My intake changes day to day. When I did strict IF'ing, I actually fasted 3 weekdays a week, which were also my weight training days. On these days I didn't eat until 4 and my total intake was…

Definitely no blasting from here! I actually love your post. Honestly, I had no clue this was going to get so out of hand. One thing I like is that you admit, just like I do, that you aren't a doctor. I'm not either. All I ever wanted to do was to get people to read an article that would challenge the crappy information…

That's awesome! Welcome to the 100lb club! No, I'm definitely not eating all my calories in one meal. I'm not sure why people keep saying that. Today I ate very little, just 3 hamburger patties with cheese and a bowl of raw broccoli covered in a little cheese and dipped in a little ranch, but I ate throughout the day once…

Completely agree that this isn't for diabetics. Also, many have had great success with small meals, including breakfast, and if people find a method that helps them find success, then I'm all for it! I've used it myself, but I'm a man of extremes, which is why I like intermittent fasting so much. I'd rather have times of…

Oh yeah, I'm sure chocolate chips are totally keeping your blood sugar even and helping you avoid crashing.

Wow. Just wow. I'll just say this and let it be; The whole point of eating less than you burn is so that your body does NOT have the energy it needs, and is forced to use the stored energy, i.e. fat. But I understand why you won't click the link. If you do you may be forced to confront the fact that you have no effing clue…

"facts do not cease to exist just because you have a whitty comeback."- ME Did you READ the article?
-
No, I'm not, but most of the time when people are told to eat smaller meals throughout the day, they're also told to make them balanced meals. That means carbs. Even if not all the meals include carbs, there are still no postivies to eating throughout the day other than appetite control.
-
It's not that they don't know how the body works. They're just re-stating the same crap they've heard over and over. Eating throughout the day helps with appetite, nothing more. In fact, it has be theorized that taking in carbs so consistently throughout the day can actually have a negative affect on insulin sensativity in…

Just so you know, you don't necisarily need carbs pre-workout. You'll have plenty of muscle glycogen from your carbs the night before. Muscle glycogen is stored in the muscle when you take in carbs, and stays there until you use it. Of course, once your muscle and liver glycogen stores are filled, any extra carbs will get…

For someone who trains in the Morning, I think we can all agree that a good, balanced post training meal is EXTREMELY important. I train in the afternoons. If that weren't the case then my plan would be completely different, because I can't be hungry in the evenings. I just can't get to sleep hungry.

I had NO IDEA that this thread would get so crazy. I'm sorry to everyone who got slammed by someone else who somehow felt so threatened that they had to make things personal. Now that things have slowed down, I thought I'd tell everyone what I'm doing to cut fat. I figured a couple people might be curious about what I'm…
