  • We do this pretty regularly (every month or two) at our Crossfit box. I think last time we did it, the exercises were burpees, situps, pullups, goblet squats. We've had wall balls and 100m runs included in it too. Aces count as 11, not 1. The few times we've had jokers included in the deck it's been something awful,…
  • Have you tried them? I think banana and egg pancakes (plus a bit of cinnamon) are pretty awesome.
  • I'm lucky in this respect - my family is so dysfunctional that last year my husband and I decided to take the kids skiing instead of spending time with the rest of the family. We had such a good time that we've decided to make it a tradition! We'll have a nice breakfast before we go (pancakes for the kids, they need their…
  • I still have mine, it's in a bag in the garage. I never had it cleaned. We've been married 10 years last May. I'm going to wear it in the next Run For Your Lives, as a zombie. My husband is completely on board with this idea.
  • Holy cow, I've had that happen, it hurts like the ****ens! I hope you're feeling better. (I hope they gave you good drugs, haha!)
  • I generally pour the fat over my meat after I'm done cooking, or pour it over a side of veggies. Since you're in the reddit group, I'm guessing you know about /r/ketorecipes. Not everything has bacon there. I think all of us go through a struggle with the shift from 'fat is bad' to 'fat is awesome and your body will only…
  • This is a local artist (Colorado) who I'm particularly fond of: http://shop.kevineslinger.com/ He's got too much stuff to try to post pictures of it all. There's something for everyone.

  • Am I right that the dairy/meat restriction would keep you from cooking meats in butter? Can you use coconut oil for those? I'm betting that would be pretty yummy for cooking fish. From what I read here (http://blog.beliefnet.com/homeshuling/2012/03/guess-whats-kosher-for-passover-this-will-change-your-life.html) Spectrum…
  • TSH measures inversely to how well your thyroid is working. If your TSH is too high, your Synthroid dose is too low. I get the symptoms I mentioned when my Synthroid dosage is too high. I get a whole slew of different problems when it's too low.
  • How are your macros? Are you getting your fat in?
  • When my synthroid dose is too high, I get weird pains in my breasts and chest pains. I've never had abdominal cramps from a too-high dosage.
  • Black, unless I'm doing my morning bulletproof coffee, in which case it gets a tablespoon of butter, a tablespoon of coconut oil, and a pinch of stevia. We're currently working through a bag of David Lynch Organic Espresso, which is some of the tastiest coffee I've ever had, but it's unsurprising that Lynch would know his…
  • Try upping your protein. It'll help stabilize your blood sugar so you're not peaking and crashing as much.
  • Unfortunately the taxation portion of the bill wasn't written properly. Whether this serves to invalidate the bill or just cause problems with taxing the sale remains to be seen.
  • Depending on what sort of eating you're engaging in...ON Chocolate makes a pretty decent pudding when mixed with heavy cream. Heavy on the calories and fat, but if you're doing keto it's good stuff.
  • For those of you whose knees are bone on bone, have you tried hyaluronic acid injections (i.e. Synvisc, Hyalgan)? My knees have no cartilage left, but with periodic injections I can still ski and hike. I'm too young for knee replacements.
  • I'm 5'4.5" My goals are: 1. To be able to walk in a skirt all day without getting friction burns on my inner thighs 2. To be able to buy clothes at whatever store I want and feel attractive in them 3. To be able to hike and ski without feeling I'm damaging my knees every time 4. To be able to go further, faster, feeling…
  • That TSH is entirely too high. TSH works inversely - the higher your TSH, the less your thyroid is actually doing. Your TSH should be between 0.3 and 3.0, according to the most recent AACE guidelines. (many patients feel best at the lower end of that - I do best when I'm close to a 1.0.)
  • Roast it instead of baking it, add bacon, use heavy cream instead of milk. Salt and pepper to taste. It's MUCH better.
  • Any exercise you do is more exercise than the dude sitting on the couch. Pavement running is a bit harder work, but if you're more comfortable in your home (to the point where the embarrassment might deter you from running on a low motivation day) then by all means, use your treadmill.
  • what zachatta said. Smart men never ever ever say anything about noticing a weight loss. You can't do this for him, you have to do this for yourself. Now go get some nice clothes that fit! If you've lost enough weight that your clothes are hanging on you, you deserve it.
  • I hesitated to mention this since you were a vegetarian, but since you're going off it...I found that going gluten/grain/sugar free was the only thing that really seemed to make a difference in my weight. I think that can be hard to do if someone's not eating meat, though. When I cut out gluten/grains/sugar, I was able to…
  • Your body doesn't naturally make thyroid hormones at night, so this may interfere with your sleep. However, it's also been shown that your body is able to absorb more of the medication, and doesn't produce as much TSH for the amount of thyroid hormone, so you can sort of manipulate your numbers a bit by taking your pill at…
  • Coffee with your thyroid pill can also interfere with its absorption. Watch the cruciferous veggies too - they can mess with your thyroid even if you don't eat them at the same time as you take your meds. Make sure your lab isn't going by the old TSH normals - your TSH should be between 0.3 and 3.0, not the 0.5 to 5.5 that…
  • I personally know when my thyroid medication is set too high because my breasts and arms feel weird. If it's really high my chest hurts.
  • Downward dog (yoga position) will help with the carpal tunnel. It hurts like the ****ens at first, but it gets better.
  • I don't believe the OP asked for advice, she asked for encouragement. And you jumping in and saying you want to verify? That's just rude.
  • They vary because the method of preparation varies. and so does the amount of fat. If I cook my own eggs, I use the raw eggs for the entry then add an entry for fats (or whatever else) I used to cook them in/with.
  • Roast your veggies in the oven until they get nice and caramelized. Use coconut oil for the roasting, a quarter cup of oil will cover well over a pound of veggies easily so it's not that much. Kosher salt and fresh-ground pepper and some fresh hard cheese like parmesan, romano, or asiago shredded finely over the top…
  • If you can afford it, pick up a Tanita scale - I don't know how accurate they are, but they're consistent. They measure body fat percentage, so if you really need to see a number moving to be motivated, you might be able to see your body fat percentage and get satisfied that way.
