  • I have arthritis in one of my knees and when I know that I'm going to be doing a lot of leg workouts, I use muscle tape. It makes it feel so much better. My Doctor told me that running is not very good for my knee, but I should still try to keep it stretched out. I started doing a bootcamp last week and I don't have any…
  • Protein, protein, protein.....
  • 5'3" tall, weight is 174 lbs (ugh, not a pretty number). I wear medium/small tops depending on brand and usually wear size 12/14 in jeans/skinny jeans. All depends on where they are from. All in US sizes.
  • I agree with PP. If it's not correct I either enter it myself or do partial servings. This way you are as accurate as you can get. Great job on the weighing your food though. I found that once I did this along with measure my food for a period of time I then knew what the weights/measurements were w/out even having to…
  • I started on some medication a few months ago and it made me gain 10 lbs in 1 month. I was watching what I was eating and exercising regularly. A side effect of the meds. So, I decided that I needed to start logging my calories everyday and trying to get within my goal. Low and behold, I lost 4 lbs in 4 days!!! So, I'm on…
  • 1/2 cup of vanilla non-fat yogurt; 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries; 1/4 cup Special K Granola....plus my 1 cup of coffee which is a must :)
  • Well, my story started in 2012 when my MIL passed away at the age of 63 from a massive heart attack. She was diabetic and really didn't take care of herself. She was a farmers wife who always cooked enormous meals for her family and everyone else for that matter. So, she loved the comfort food. I realized that I didn't…
  • Same here but my "babies" are 11, 10, 5, & 2...... . I've been having some difficulty with staying in a routine. I was diagnosed with early menopause a few weeks ago and ever since then, I'm finding it really hard to stay focused, eat right, and get to the gym. I'm off to DisneyWorld next week where we will do a…
  • The biggest change I've made is to stop drinking soda, period. I'm on week 3 now and I really don't crave it much. I started drinking water with lemon because I hate drinking plain old water. I also told myself that if I don't get up to do my 5 am workout, I must do a workout at night whether it is going to the gym for 30…
  • Keep moving. I sit at a desk all day long and then when I get home I hardly ever sit down due to the fact that I have 4 young children. Thank god for them!! They keep me on my toes. Set small goals. Don't try to hit every huge goal you want all at once, you will just turn back to old ways if you don't hit the goal. Use the…
  • You are eating WAY too few calories especially if you are burning 500-800 calories and not eating some of those back. You definitely do not want your body to go into "hibernation mode" to where it hangs onto what calories/fat that you have. You might want to consult a physician or add more calories to your diet.
  • I did some online research on this topic when I started MFP. I found the consensus to be that you should eat back 50% of the calories you burn. That being said, if you truly know how many calories you actually burn, you are good to go, but if you are using MFP estimates (which can be WAY off either direction), you could…
  • We are all walking in your footsteps in one way, shape, or form. You have taken the first step by being here with others.
  • I watch this show every week. It gives me motivation and the strength to keep going. Yes, that may be selfish, but it is one of the reason's why I watch the show. I also watch Hoarders for the same reason, to get my butt moving to clean up my house when it seems to be getting cluttered. I don't agree with everything that…
  • I hate boredom and stress eating...they are my worst enemy!! Thank god I have kids so on the weekend I'm always running around & not really staying still too long. But, the weekends are my hardest challenges for the week..... Great job in saying "NO"!!!!!!
  • This........if you totally cut some things out, you will end up having that bad day & feeling guilty about it. I indulge in what I enjoy every so often just to make sure that it doesn't spiral out of control.
  • Me too if you'd like :)
  • I've been using MFP since January 2012 & I almost get withdrawal sometimes when I realize I forgot to enter in some of my food. I wasn't using it exclusively for awhile since I got pregnant with my 4th boy, but now I'm done having kids & I can't use the baby fat excuse forever!! I'm on day 29 & have also joined a Biggest…
  • I agree with Nell8i8, I log all my calories & when I've seen what I've eaten, it makes me want to work harder tomorrow. We all have these & those who say they don't, well I think they lie ;). Take it one day at a time & if you fall off the horse, look that horse in the face & get back on!!!!!
  • It does get very boring sometimes & when it does, it means you need to make a change. A small change can really kick start your body. You can still eat some of the foods that you do really like, you just need to watch your portion & try to remain within your calorie goal for the day. Regarding exercises, mix it up a bit.…
  • This exactly.......you don't need the scale to gauge whether you are or are not losing weight. For me feeling my clothes fit better or even baggier was a much bigger goal than seeing the numbers drop on the scale.
  • I'm on the bandwagon after boy #4 who is now 2 years old!! I lost 40 lbs after my 3rd but then I got pregnant again, gained 50 lbs, and lost some of it but not all of it. I just started a Biggest Loser Challenge with some people that live in the same town. I'm hoping that me not wanting to pay for gaining weight will help…
  • I used MFP when I was pregnant with my 4th and it helped me watch what I eat. I also kept using it while I was exclusively pumping for my baby since I knew how many ounces I was producing. That kept me going :). I still gained 50 lbs with my 4th but I'm prone to gaining at least 50 lbs with my kids (4 of them :)). Just…
  • Change up your workout routine. I find that when I get into the same workout routine every time, I tend to get bored with it. So, I change it up a little and that seems to help. I also agree that taking a "short" break is good, but I tend to see it grow to a "long" break, so I try to avoid this. I also agree that maybe go…
  • Nice work!!! I've been walking about 10-12 miles per week, that I've recorded anyhow. I try to get out and do about 3.5 miles 3-4 times per week.
  • Well, it's hard for me these days. I'm just beginning to get back into a routine and I'm thankful to have my sister on board again to help me stay motivated. I have 4 boys, ages 11, 9, 4, and 20 months, so finding time to work out is hard and being able to really eat everything healthy while being on the run with practices…
  • You are all doing great  so keep up the good work. Even a short walk a few times a week is enough to keep yourself motivated. It is hard to curb those pregnancy cravings, so just try to make good choices. If you have to have something that soothes your craving every once in awhile that isn't the healthiest, well, go…
  • I also suggest getting yourself a heart rate monitor. I find that it is more accurate than what MFP and the machines calculate what you have burned. I find that MFP and the machines can either be way under or way over. This gives me more peace of mind when I use my heart rate monitor. I wear mine like a watch, it's with me…
  • I am a sweet lover too & it does take patience and I agree that cutting what you love out completely is just asking for disaster because when you think "oh, I can have a little"...it turns into a whole cake. I've started adding in plain vanilla ice cream and fresh raspberries after dinner when I get the craving. It's…
