  • It took me probably 4 months to lose 45, and then another 2 months to lose the last 5! Total of 6 months.
  • I love seeing all these transformations! I love to know that it works for real people!
  • I've lost 50 lbs, my husband has lost about 25. We are spokespeople for our local program. Here we are before: This was last week before presenting at a local bridal show:
  • I can't answer most of your questions. For the deadlift, you could reduce your range of motion if it bothers you. In my program, I lift to "muscle failure." I currently aim for failure at 10-12 reps and I only do one set of each exercise, so try to make sure my weights are heavy enough that I can get to 10, but not past 12.
  • I sometimes do this because it was an old habit - whenever I was alone, which is almost never, I would want to eat some junk food, because nobody would be there to see me eat it (hubby) or insist on sharing (kids). Still sometimes when i get out of work early and have some time in the car by myself I'm tempted to get back…
  • So true about BMI being used in medical classification. I am always recommended to lose weight by my health insurance company and given less than the best rates on life insurance because of BMI! I also think my bones alone would put me in the healthy BMI category, add a little bit of muscle and padding (where it belongs)…
  • Love all these photos! I have another 6 lbs to my goal, I'm still 1-2 lbs over the maximum healthy BMI for my height, which is crazy. I'm 5'5" and wear clothes in size 4. I can't imagine being much smaller! Pictures really tell a better picture than the number on the scale.
  • love all the pics! great job everyone!
  • Great job! I bet you feel great!
  • Awesome! I love how people not only look healthier, but happier!
  • This was a few weeks ago when I hit 50 lbs gone. 24 weeks, I've lost 36 lbs of fat (54 lbs total), 9 inches off my waist.
  • I know I shouldn't have the fake sugar, but for a sweet fix I like SF jello. For a salty fix I like string cheese or dill pickles (as mentioned above). Drinking electrolytes also helps to break cravings. Sometimes you are craving something because you need something in your body (a certain vitamin or mineral), and I find…
  • I have only been measuring my waist, I do it at my belly button for consistency. I've lost about 50 lbs and 9 inches off my waist. Surprisingly I wear the same bra size, but think I did lose density in that area, just still need the same size from all the babies I nursed...
  • I think it is just a fact of life that the less you breastfeed, the less you produce. And the pump isn't the same as the baby. I've done low carb while nursing, but also nursed on demand and if I wasn't with the baby, the baby got formula (I wouldn't pump unless I was desperate for it, my body just acclimated to nursing…
  • I like to crush up a bit of Fiber 1 (maybe 1 T), place in a cup or muffin tin, top with a combo of cream cheese, whipped cream, and splenda. Freeze, like a mini cheesecake with a hint of crust!
  • awesome! keep it up!
  • I generally eat three times daily, but am low calorie and low carb, not necessarily high fat. I find that my timing depends more on the habit I make of it, not really whether I am hungry or not. If I have a snack at 10am every day for a week, I will probably want a snack every day at 10am going forward.
  • We are on a tight food budget for five people. I find that it is easier to maintain the budget with low-carb rather than other ways of eating (maybe because we don't eat out as much?). I purchase meat and eggs in bulk at Sam's Club, we don't eat organic, I purchase our other ingredients at a discount grocery store (Aldi…
  • great job! I was just talking to my husband about this - I'm not hungry, but often want to eat because the food is there, or out of habit, etc. I'm always saying No, especially at night, to myself, because I want to lounge and watch TV and eat my kids' snacks!
  • Sounds like you also need to think about calories. Consuming the right things is good, but you also need to be burning more than you consume. Obviously eating 4000 calories of high-fat isn't going to result in weight-loss.
  • If you are trying to lose weight, also keep an eye on the calories. Great to keep carbs down, but also need to keep calories down in order to lose! Keep it up, great choices!
  • These have been my weekly losses during this WOE. So yes, a big loss in week 1. I would also have a smaller loss during weeks related to my cycle, and then make up for it the next week. So many factors that come into play! And while carbs count, calories do too. (6.5) (3.5) (2.0) (3.0) (3.0) (0.5) (0.5) (4.0) (3.5) (2.0)…
  • My biggest concern is that my little girls will see me denying myself or doing something different than everybody else. I don't want them to see that, just a mother being healthy. This time around I have been able to avoid that. I cook one meal for everyone with the backbones that I need (protein and veggies) and a side…
  • I'm Rachel, working mom of three young kids. I first did South Beach a decade ago, it worked great for me, kept me full, helped me lose some weight. After my first baby, I became a Lifetimer at Weight Watchers, following their then-Core program. After my second baby I kept the weight off until she was about 1 and I weaned…
  • I've been in so many of these situations! There is always a birthday, a holiday, a night out with friends, a jewelry party... I just eat around the carbs, decline cake and wine. I didn't tell anybody I was changing my lifestyle for months. They may have noticed me eating the filling out of a taco and leaving the shell, but…
  • I just watch carbs - goal is under 20g daily. I don't worry about the makeup of the remaining intake. Just have to keep calories under my BMR, so usually under 1400.
  • good luck! This is the lifestyle that has always been best for me!
  • I like to melt a Laughing Cow cheese wedge over poached chicken and then top with hot sauce. If I have it together, I make fajita chicken in the crockpot on the weekend and take some each day for lunch, topped with cheese and sour cream. Sometimes on lettuce if I'm doing veggies with lunch.
  • I started 9/17, not Atkins though. Carbs under 20g daily, low calories, 10k steps daily. I lost 8 lbs my first week and consistently 2-3 weekly for the next 2 months, now slowing down to under 2 lbs weekly. I've lost 45ish lbs and feel awesome! I didn't feel too bad in week 1, just a headache the first day. I drink 0.5…
