  • Happy New Year to you all. It's off to a glorious start in my part of the world; a bright, warm and sunny day.
  • I worked for large corporations from the time my daughter was six months old until she was 10. At that time I became self employed and worked from home which was great; I was there when the kids got home from school, there for school holiday, there when they were ill, etc. I'm still self employed and can work from wherever…
  • Good for you!! I'm hoping to achieve that by Christmas.
  • A shot of espresso, and a shot of Frangelico poured over a scoop of iceream. Best quick dessert ever.
  • Absolutely fabulous! You look like a Super Hero. And I bet for those close to you, you are.
  • Oh yes, hippie food. A staple from the 60s and 70s. Use them in everything to replace mince meat: burgers, soups, spag bol, lasagne. They are delicious.
  • Any food sliced thinly enough that the slice doesn't register on the kitchen scale. You can eat as much as you like. 10 x 0 still equals 0. I remember my maths.
  • In Australia, the only organisations exempt from our 'anti-discriminatory' legislations are religious organisations. So, I checked out the Scouts.com.au website. No mention of the necessity to be 'straight' in the Scout Law and the Promise includes "To do my duty to my God, and To Australia" Oh, and girls are scouts now…
  • Try to keep yourself nice Cheryl
  • Yes, I was interested to see what all the fuss was about and I downloaded it. I read a number of sample pages of the first novel and my feelings are that it is a Mills and Boon style take-off of 'The Story of O' by Anne Desclos. Of course 'The Story of O' is now considered to be a literary classic (and still far more…
  • Yes, visibility is what will add normalcy to our being. I tend to forget that some people don't view us as just any happy middle aged couple. Every now and then say, a dinner party, something is said that knocks you back into reality. "Oh, they still think we're different". When our kids were in their teens the mum of one…

  • During my young student days I woke one morning to find a very large "House Full" sign hanging from the mantle in my room. It was obviously from a mid-city theatre but..... The other thing I recall from those days was that whenever I had drunk so much alcohol that my body felt the need to expel it, there was always 'bean…

  • No kidding about pervs on the bus. During year 11, (15 - 16yo) it seemed that everywhere I looked - on the bus, in car parks, in the street - there was some guy with his stiffy out wanking at me. As for adults on planes and kids, here's what I think. The policy is in place to protect the airlines from the repercussions of…
  • Some bloke made a big issue of it in the online media here. Of late it seems the new sport in Australia is to get your picture or name in the paper for any trivial complaint you can tempt the media with. As it turns out the policy has been in place - across all airlines - for quite some time. The policy includes any adult.…
  • Of most use to athletes and those aiming to gain top performance from their body. I've decided to just enjoy living a healthier lifestyle without obsessing and turning my day to day life into a science experiment. If you read all the posts about HRMs those using them are still questioning how accurate they are. And then…

  • The first thing I thought on reading this was that it will be used to move on adults who are using the park inappropriately. Especially at night. For instance, people partying and leaving broken glass around, lovers leaving used prophylactics, drug users leaving syringes, etc. All those 'adult' things parents don't want…

  • It is winter here in Southern Australia so soup is 'the go'. I make a big pot of minestrone (without noodles/pasta) to sit on the stove for snacks and lunches. Carrots Celery Cauliflower Tomatoes Zucchini Beans Garlic and herbs And we throw a handful of raw baby spinach into each bowl. 38 calories per 100 grams.
  • LOL Obviously the Nigerian authorities aren't getting a cut.
  • Yep, somebody as big as me can easily lose over 10lb a month eating 1400 per day. And, remember it is really difficult to judge how much you are burning. Also, she may have been burning 1500 to start but she certainly wouldn't be burning 1500 doing the same exercise 80lb later. However, it never hurts to monitor on your…
  • I can see me now..... I lean back in my chair during a telephone conversation and up recumbent on the floor.
  • Our cat jumped on to ours. Pfffffffffffttttt
  • I must add to the applause here. I recently broke the barrier and share in your joy. Go you!

  • We're having beef tajine for dinner tonight. It's so easy to throw together and just let slowly cook on the stove top (we also use the 'tajine' for cooking vegetables on the BBQ during summer (winter here now)). Purchased a second 'tajine' so we can serve two dishes - say, a beef and a chicken dish - at dinner parties.…
