The best is the one you enjoy the most. They'll all do solid work for your cardio health. Personally I love a nice mid-pace jog through nature.

The influenza (flu) epidemic of 1918 killed more people than WWI (1914-1918). So yeah. I'm all for the flu shot.

Medical anthropologist and vegan here. Homo sapiens sapiens is an omnivore. The loonies who try to argue we're frugivorous blissfully ignore the entirety of palaeoanthropology and archaeology (the "paleo" diet folks at the other end of the spectrum are pretty off-base too). BUT! While we were evolving as omnivores we…

Lol nope.

I used to but it got exhausting trying to explain basic science and anatomy to people who would rather believe in magic pills than put in the actual effort. If somebody asks a specific question I still try to reply in a helpful way, especially new vegetarians and vegans who aren't sure what to eat.

I typically run in the morning, alternating steady state and intervals (either sprints or hills) on varying days. Afternoons I alternate yoga (steady state days) and strength (HIIT days). That gives me a nice easy-hard-easy-hard-etc schedule, with rests taken as my body requests them. I work from home, which makes all the…

Pick a strength routine that specifically compliments your preferred cardio. Love to run? Find a good strength for runners program and while you're lifting think about how it's going to make you faster and help keep you injury free for more running. Or try circuit training with cardio intervals, calisthenics, power yoga,…

Nobody should pay for health insurance. Not directly anyway. Single payer system.

The FR35 has a virtual pacer, the Vivoactive HR can run ConnectIQ apps (which almost certainly include a virtual pacer option). Vivoactive HR > FR35.

That early hominids ate like the paleo diet claims they did.

40/30/30 carbs/protein/fat, just eat off the approved food list and aim to get a ton of veggies.

MFP consistently overestimates by 30% or more above my heart rate monitor.

What's your schedule like? Do you alternate or add Combat as a second workout?

Your coaches sound... insane.

I started yesterday, planning to finish 21 Day Fix Extreme. Cause if I can't even stick with a 3 week program wtf is wrong with me?

I'm a vegetarian 99% of the time. When I cheat I cheat hard. Every year I have a few cheeseburgers at McDonald's, they are delicious and then they make me physically sick. It's a pretty good system for restraint.

Yup. A couple pounds and murderous junknfood cravings. Thanks biology. :(

This is what worked for me. I always found running boring and the gym intimidating. But I started doing DVDs at home after entering a Biggest Loser at work solely to prevent a boastful coworker from winning. I started with Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30, where you change moves every 30 seconds. Moved on to Insanity, where…

This is the exact reaction I have. I'm genuinely more impressed when I see somebody who is heavier, or obviously just getting started, than if they're zooming along in fantastic shape. It takes real willpower to get out there and get started, you will 100% inspire some of the people who see you.

Seems totally worth it to me. Sadly, I'm in Canada so I can't give them my money, they somehow won't accept it.

Yoga is really wonderful, it's worth trying at least a few times to overcome your intimidation. Let the instructor know you're new (and whether you're comfortable with hands-on posture adjustments), stand in the back and try to remember that most or all the other people are focused on themselves. Good luck.

Insanity for me too. I'm super excited to start Insanity Max 30 on Monday. Curious how it'll compare. I've never met a Shaun T workout that didn't kick my *kitten* and make me love it.

I think Jillian is writing a book currently on fitness during and after pregnancy (she's mentioned it on her podcast). Maybe there are some tips on her website? I've never been pregnant, but I'd guess some of the jumping might be hard on your knees with the added weight? (I can also imagine myself falling on my butt doing…

I just started the One Week Shred. So I'll be with you in spirit for the next 7 days. That cardio workout is brutal.

1. Own a dog 2. Use Pomodoro time management method for work and do bodyweight exercise during the 5 min breaks every 25 min. 3. Put on workout clothes even when I don't feel like working out. I may procrastinate for another hour but eventually I feel guilty enough to just do it.

I'm 5'8" and have gone up to 133, I'm usually hungry when I eat 1200. Focusing on healthy fats and protein helps, as does drinking a lot of water and tea. I definitely have to leave some calories for an afternoon and evening snack. But honestly, eat 1400 or so and lose a bit slower. You'll be happier, more likely to stick…

Lemon juice in water, then just water. I think I'm lucky, I just decided to stop and stopped (same with smoking). But my boyfriend is trying to go from Coke to Coke Zero to no soda and it's been an eye opener watching how much he seems to crave it. Maybe those water flavours, like Mio? I've seen some sweetened with stevia…

This looks awesome, thanks for sharing. Doing the 30 Day Shred to get back a modicum of fitness before trying this out.

I've also been doing level 1 already. I figure towards the end of the month I'll either do the 1 Week Shred (if I have time for 2x 30 min workouts a day) or move into level 1 of Ripped in 30. I've got 3, 5, 8, and 10 lb weights. I change it up depending on the move, although the 10s only get used for deadlifts right now. I…
