Weighted gloves (on Amazon.ca)
I'm going to do the Les Mills Combat program with my boyfriend, and since I bought it I picked the weighted gloves in my size. He checked Amazon.ca (smaller selection than Amazon.com, sad for us Canadians) but didn't find any he was sure about. Could anybody recommend a good pair of weighted gloves for martial arts style…

Weights for Chalean Extreme
I'm considering which program to start and CLX is on my shortlist. I haven't been working out at all lately and I've lost a ton of strength, but I'm worried I won't have heavy enough weights by the end of the program. All I have address 5, 8, 10 and 15 lb dumbbells. What should I be existing to need?

Broken Big Toe
I broke my big toe last week during my first week of half marathon training (thankfully the race isn't til May 2014). I've ready accounts of people just taping it up and continuing to run, but given the fact that a) that hurts a lot, and b) it puts me at the risk of extending healing time, getting arthritis in a place that…

Chalean Extreme with bands instead of weights?
Hi there. I know I want to add a strength component to my current regimen of Insanity and running, and Chalean Extreme looks much better than Les Mills Pump. (The only real appeal of Pump for me was it comes with weights, but 30lbs on a barbell seems ridiculously light for me as a 118 lb woman, nevermind for anybody…

What's your training routine?
I'm running my first Tough Mudder in September, and I foolishly signed up for a Spartan Beast mid-July. Right now I can really only run 5k, and I can't do a single pull up. So I'd like to know how other people train so I can hopefully assemble the most efficient training plan possible. Thanks. :)

Ladies, how much do you lift?
Hi all. I *just* started strength training (yay for gym equipment being purchased at work, gotta love software company perks) and I'm curious what sort of weight I may be capable of working up to. Right now I'm working with pretty low weight (well, it's as heavy as I can handle but still pretty low) so I can make sure I…

Tips to drop body fat fast?
I'm into the last 2 weeks of a body fat % loss contest at work and the 2nd place contender just passed me. I need to drop as much body fat as possible by September 17th. Currently 120 lbs, 19% body fat. (Started around 134 lbs, 28% body fat.) I run 4-5km most weekday mornings and just started doing Stronglifts 3 days a…

Free Nike Training Club app, 50+ excellent workouts
This app is amazing. I don't understand why more people on here don't use and love it. It's super popular with the "Fitblr" community on Tumblr, but I get the feeling the average demographic there is younger so gravitates more to apps (and free vs "I had to spend my allowance on this DVD). It has more variety than the…

Why is yoga so expensive?
The Bikram yoga place a 5 min walk from my house is $1400/year! http://activeyoga.ca/ That's just nuts. :( Especially with that supremely ghetto looking website. That's all, I just wanted to vent. Over $150/month if you buy monthly passes instead. Sad times.

Chocolate protein frozen yogurt
I just saw this on Tumblr, haven't tried it yet but I will make it later today. Hopefully it's as good as it sounds. 6 oz plain low-fat Greek yogurt 2 tbsp unsweetened baking cocoa Stevia to taste Stir until smooth, freeze for 35-45 minutes. Can also be eaten without freezing for a more pudding-esque experience. (Not much…

5 new DVDs arrived, which one first?
I just got 5 new DVDs from Amazon (free shipping and they STILL arrived overnight, I'm impressed). But now I can't decide which to do when I get home tonight! What do you think? http://imgur.com/yFxny For those who don't want to check out the photo of them, I got: - Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones 4 Jackie Warner…

2 questions about fitness DVDs
1. I understand that I can't do the same thing over and over indefinitely. But if I regularly rotate through my mini-library of 10ish workout DVDs is that enough variety? Or at some point will circuit training become less effective? I think I should be okay, but I'd rather ask a stupid question than be wrong. :) Ive got 4…

HRM during obstacle race?
Does anybody wear their HRM during these races? My FT7 is waterproof and the Ontario Warrior Dash course looks mud-free. I'm really tempted to wear it but I'd like to know if others have done it and how that worked out for you.

Insanity first thing in the morning?
I usually run or do some strength training before work, and then do Insanity after work. But it feels like it takes up so much additional time when I do it that way. I get home between 6-6:30pm, drink a berry smoothie because I'm hungry by then (I do have a healthy snack mid-afternoon), wait 30ish minutes, then get down to…

Almond or soy milk for smoothies?
I currently use 2% milk for protein smoothies (I've read you can't really absorb most of the nutrients from skim, and my boyfriend drinks 2% anyway so didn't bother with 1%). Buuuuut, he drinks a TON of milk and I'm tired of being the only one to restock it, or coming home from a 6am run to find that he drank the last of…

Question about Insanity
The infomercial (I'm working from home today, turned on tv for a snack break and it was on) talks a lot about weight loss. My weight is fine, but I have around 19% body fat and no strength, I just want to be strong and fit instead of skinny. Body weight exercises look good, but is this the workout for me? (I'm stubborn as…

20-30 min yoga DVD recommendations?
I've lost an alarming amount of flexibility since starting running (I knew it happened but I'm still stunned at how much and how fast). I'd like to start doing yoga every other day before work but I don't want to get up any earlier than 6am which means my hard cap for time is a 30 minute routine. Any recommendations? So…

Trading fat for muscle (no weight loss needed)
I signed up for the Warrior Dash this spring when I realized I was gaining weight and in increasingly bad shape. I can (barely) run the 5k and I think I'll be okay on the obstacles, but the process of getting there has made me a bit obsessed with running a Tiugh Mudder (20km obstacle race) and getting really fit. But I'm a…
