  • Hi, i am new to the group, i am after a bit of advice. I was diagnosed with IBS a few yers ago and simply by cutting out most wheat products and drinking peppermint tea, cooking mostly from scratch also, i manage to keep it fairly under control. As it is an umbrella term the diagnosis was not much help however i lived with…

I see my physio next week hoping to get the all clear to start lifting heavy. I am so fed up 2-3 months out…
  • Hi, thanks for the advice. If i am correct its 2 sets of each squats, seated row both no issue with. then prone jack knife, pushups and step ups. step ups will def be a problem because of my achilles and the pushups and prone jack knife also because i hav a problem with my right wrist, so basically can do 2/5 the others i…
  • hi , i am new to this book, i read it a while ago but due to an injured achilles was never able to start it, still injured but the physio has told me its ok to do non impact exercise as long as i am careful. Do you think it would be good to start doing this since there is no impact as such, i will stay away from any lunges…
  • hi guys, Iv had this book for about 3 months now, unfortunately around the time i also damaged my achilles, in both legs. I have been unable to do much because of that. I have been given the ok from my physio to start exercising as long as it is no impact, biking /cross trainer ok, pilates ok and anything classed as…
  • Fish, eggs, both great source of protein. tuna, chicken, eggs, whey are generally considered the best sources of protein. beans lentils etc i usualy find too carb heavy. i find it really tough too. and i don't eat meat, try my best to not eat fish either as i hate the stuff but to get my protein up i occasionally eat…
  • Hi, i want to increase my protein and lower my carbs. i have my diary set at 40/30/30 currently but i overheard someone talking about a 3-2-1 ratio per meal, as in 30g of protein 20g of carbs 10g of fat. has anyone done this? do they known what is involved, i assume its per meal, i would have asked more but i was in a rush…
  • i love making a strong coffee and adding it to my protein shaker with vanilla and a bit of milk, its like a vanilla latte :) stuck with mint choc powder im trying to use up so i mix that with a mint choc 40 cal option drink too

  • the choc-mint tastes a bit powdery just tried it. the banana cream isnt as nice as i thought it would be, so far for me its rocky road or strawberry. It could be just a case of getting the right amount of milk.
  • i use the ON shakes, i have had vanilla - bit bland ok to add for stuff like pancakes. rocky road - not bad not too cocoa powder tasting, cookies & cream - sweet can get sickly , nice with milk. CHoc mint - bought not tried yet. Strawberry -ok banana cream - bought not tried yet I also like syntrax nectar range - 0 carbs 0…

  • hi, i am attempting this gradually also, its tough as a veggie, a lot of veggie foods are processed. Good luck!
  • I have learned that i need 1900 cals a day and i split it into 40% carbs 30% protein 30% fat I mostly worry about my carbs being within the limit and try to go above my protein level of 143g as long as i have the calories left. As a fellow veggie, i struggle with this too. I eat nuts as a snack as i tend to need to use up…
  • Hi, I had to come on again this week and thank everyone for the support. I am still unable to train due to injury, although now i have been told i might need to see a podiatrist rather than just a physio. Last week i mentioned i had been eating 1900 cals approx a day and i was a little surprised when i lost .5lb without…
  • sounds good, which app?
  • thanks for the suggestion, i know we can get low fat cheese. but you see recipes for fat free ricotta and part skim mozerella and they are a lot lower in fat than the low fat stuff here. the pancake syrups does exist i just cant find it here, i saw a recipe on hungry-girl.com for a recipe for a frappuccino swap and apart…
  • mint choc muller light sounds awesome but usually they have gelatine in them so i cannot eat it. :(
  • Well i completed my first week on my diary with 1900 cals 40/30/30 ratio. It seems to have worked all the extra protein was difficult to get, i found i had to eat fish (which i hate) to get there, and carbs disappear so fast! Years of low fat eating means im chomping down cashew nuts at the end of the day to try use the…
  • thanks for the response, i watched that video, i wish our supermarkets had that sorta choice, lucky if i can find unsalted nuts ! I just find when i am watching youtube vids of recipes and things i can never find half the stuff. another great one would be liquid egg whites, instead of wasting eggs. i might try oat flour…
  • ooh thought of another, very low fat, low sugar ice cream (we used to have skinny cow tubs then they disappeared) I loved the cookie dough :(
  • Hi Kiki, I am sticking with the 1.4 i currently am doing very very little after work what with the injury and as i mostly sit in meetings, on teleconferences and at a pc, my job is unfortunately sedentary, i usually break the day up by going to the gym at lunchtime, then any other activities after work. so at 1.4 my cals…
  • hi, i am also interested in this i find it difficult to eat clean and get enough protein as a veggie everyone keeps telling me i need to eat chicken and tuna :s a group would be good!
  • Hi, I struggle with this too, i am trying to add more protein to my diet but i find a lot of veggie protein has a lot of carbs in it too, hard to get a low carb high protein diet as a veggie :(
  • Hi, Well i gained weight :( suppose its to be expected when i am not exercising i seem to be cursed with no matter what i eat if i do not burn it off i gain, oh well injury must come first i guess. So on the diet side i think i might be safest working on the sedentary 1.2 option until im back up and moving again more. so i…
