I'm a triathlete and train 1-2x/day, 6 days a week. Just listen to your body, fuel it properly, and you'll be fine.

Lansdale! 25 miles NW of Philly :)

I've always been athletic and I get the "baby hips" comment all the time. I don't know if I could be skinny (and when I say skinny/thin, I mean those girls that are born small- no curves, little body fat)- but I don't want to be. I have definitely lost fat and I love how I look, but I love having muscle and love having…

so we've seen the offense play, and the defense play. let's hope for embarrassment's sake that they both show up for Denver.

some Lady Gaga, and "Move Along" by the All-American Rejects. When I YouTube surf I played "That's What Makes You Beautiful" (correct title?) by One Direction a few times. I'm a huge fan of Swedish metal bands, so that's a potential loss of street cred right there

Thanks so much for this analysis! I will work on slowing my pace and adding in some cross-training.
-
Thank you! I will try to fuel less frequently during the run and see how that works out. I will also work on fueling the day before.
-
Thanks for this- I do find myself in the mindset sometimes that every run should be great. Realistically that cannot be the case though. I will keep this in mind :)
-
Thanks! Along with the other replies, looks like I might be fueling too often during the run. I will try to space things out next time. Good luck to you also if you make it over here! :)
-
Thanks Alan! Thinking back, I have been re-fueling with a lot of calories post-run but have not been pre-fueling as much, or more than an average meal anyway. I will try this out!
-
Thanks for the advice! I will move the schedule around to include some more mileage and another 20.
-
Thank you! I do find myself "thinking forward" a lot during my runs. I will work on staying in the present. Slowing down is also a challenge- even if I think I'm moving slower, my first couple miles always end up being faster than I wanted. I am making some progress though.

For the training, I am using Hal Higdon's Novice #1 marathon training plan. 1) this month, I averaged 24 miles/wk. 2) avg over the last 10 weeks is 16.6 miles/wk. 3) my fastest 5K is 24.55 (ran on 8/6 as one of the short runs). I have done 2 half-marathons, most recently in March 2013 and both times were 2:15. 4) checking…

I support people loving themselves and having confidence in their body but I draw the line at having a body that increases your likelihood of just about every cardiovascular disease there is, plus who knows how many other long-term health issues. Having fat is healthy, being fat is not.

I'm in! CW: ~146 GW: 140

Definitely doable. With respect to training, I feel that you'd have to stay at some medium-high mileage- like being stuck in the pre-taper phase- having only 4 weeks to race, recover, train up, taper, and race again. My legs would be feeling that!! For me, I would sign up for something like that- I love the crazy…

Glad you got some clothing that you're excited about. I see you've got some great advice so far- just wanted to reiterate to HAVE FUN!!! And for the gear or bike- do what makes you comfortable! I hope you enjoy your race :D welcome to the sport!!

hahaha! Loved it. thanks for posting.

Do it!!

My new "usual" (for about a month now) is Greek yogurt, granola, and fruit, plus OJ and/or milk. Not every day though; I switch it up with other types of cereal, a Toaster Streudel, or fruit smoothie. But I have the yogurt/granola/fruit about 4 times a week. I love it!
-
I didn't like it with water at all so I compromised and switched to skim milk. I get a chocolate flavor so it tastes more like chocolate milk. As an alternative, sometimes I throw in a scoop of whey with fruit, yogurt, etc., and make a shake.

I am an endurance athlete so my goal is to make this MFP thing more of a lifestyle change. I was not in a rush and wanted to see how each component of food & exercise affected me. Out of curiosity, at first I changed only my eating habits to see if "food only" was making a difference (at the time I was not working out at…

Should get at least half the NFC-N games. Who knows what's going on with RGIII, heard he was throwing but haven't…
