  • Way to go! Bet that feels good!
  • Figure I'll stop lurking and join the conversation, even though you guys are way further than I am, haha. Just finished W4D2 today, and while day 1 made me feel like my legs were going to fall off, today felt great. I even kept going for another minute after the last 5 minute run just to see if I could  . I think…
  • Thanks for the help!
  • My sister and I are halfway through C25K right now. When we're done, instead of moving to the 10k program, she wants to work on her speed. Based on all of these replies, we should do the 10k instead of interval training, and by doing that our speed will increase on the way? Just want to clarify. Does this still work if…
  • Is this only for those in maintenance? Eating at a deficit and being active I very rarely feel full or that I've eaten all I want, even though I'm not technically hungry and I'm eating enough overall. Also, what do you mean by appetite? The want for food or the feeling of hunger?
  • I miss that show so badly. For cheese cravings, I love Sargento. The cheddar is really good, and I really like the cheddar mozzarella cheese sticks. I don't try to cut back or anything, I just make sure there's room in my calories to eat some when I want to.
  • 4oz for solid foods is not the same as 4oz for liquids. They're saying stop using measuring cups for solid foods like rice--use the scale and use grams. Use the measuring cups for liquids.
  • They're not saying it won't increase your weight loss, they're saying that cardio isn't a magical fat burner that you have to do to lose weight. It even says in the original post that cardio helps burn more calories.
  • You don't need to outrun anything, you need to eat less. People aren't fat or unhealthy because they eat pizza, it's because they eat too much of whatever it is they're eating. If you ate enough broccoli to go over your maintenance level you would gain weight. On broccoli. I've been losing weight steadily and consistently…
  • Yeah, you should eat at least some of the exercise calories. You'll probably feel a bit better. I walk 4 days a week to get 10k steps a day at an easy-brisk pace, and 'run' (C25K) 3 days a week, plus whatever else I need for the step total. I don't do anything else yet because I'm focusing on weight loss rather than…
  • Are you saying you had 1600 total to eat or it gave you 1600 on top of your normal MFP total? Either way seems strange (1600 total seems low, but 1600 extra is way too high). If I get 10k steps I get to eat 1500 total, which is about 300 exercise adjustment. Not over 1,000! 500 seems much more likely.
  • Use Fitbit for exercise logging, MFP for food logging. If you log exercise in MFP it'll try to give you extra calories, like you saw with yours. Edit: Instead of the rate of loss, it asks you how difficult you want to go. I think it's something like Extra Hard=1,000 calorie deficit, Hard=750, Moderate=500, and Easy=250 or…
  • Yep. Since MFP and Fitbit haven't been working together very well for a while I will instead look at last night's burn from Fitbit and subtract my deficit from there, which is what it sounds like you're doing. I know now, after using my Fitbit for over a year, that if I walk 10k steps I burn 2500 calories according to…
  • Music, audiobooks, or podcasts when walking, but I find that those don't distract me enough (or I can't pay enough attention) when running. Running I have to watch something on my phone like Netflix or Youtube or else I do the same and just watch the time, which makes everything feel worse.
  • Depends on the phone, I think. My Fitbit doesn't make much impact on my phone. I like the Zip. It's the cheapest, and it's more of a 'clip' than a bracelet, which I like because I think it's more accurate. Obviously people have good results with the bracelet styles, so it's just in my head, but I do like it. I think if I…
  • I'm on week 3 of C25K and I just started this week putting the incline at 1.0 every time. I figure that from what everyone says about the transition, if I get used to a 1.0 incline now maybe going outside won't be that much of a struggle.
  • I've been losing a good 2lbs average using my Fitbit, which is what I want, so mine is very accurate. However, there's something wrong happening between my Fitbit account and MFP that makes MFP give me at least 200 more calories than I really burned, and claims it's from FB. If I ate what MFP told me to I would NOT be…
  • I really like my Fitbit Zip and I think it was only about $60.
  • From what I understand, logging the exercise in Fitbit instead of MFP should fix your problem, jeremy. It'll still sync it all. jeff, when you log your exercise it should ask what time it happened. This is so that if you were swimming from 3-4, any 'steps' you took from 3-4 will be erased since you weren't walking, you…
  • I think she meant, why can't you cook them and eat them? Surely cooked would taste much better, without the salmonella risks? If you mean cooked eggs taste plain, add some cheese! Even more protein and it tastes great. Better than raw, at least.
  • If I had to lose weight by cutting out all of the 'bad' stuff I would have given up a long time ago. If I'm craving a hamburger and fries one day, I log them and eat them. On rare occasions I have entire days where I eat nothing but 1500 calories worth of pizza, because it fits, so I can. If I wanted a candy bar I wouldn't…
  • In other words, "Woosh." I'm bad enough at recognizing jokes/sarcasm in person as it is, I don't know who let me on the internet, haha.
  • Can local sources not get contaminated?
  • Log your exercise through Fitbit, it'll sync the same way as your steps do, and the calories will adjust again. Fitbit constantly adjusts throughout the day, so it'll be okay.
  • Yeah, that makes sense. Hopefully by the time I need a new pair I'll be back home and can go to the running store there.
  • I'm not driving New Balance out of business. I'm sure they appreciate your concern though. If it had been a tiny local business, I agree. Maybe I should have said that in my first post. I absolutely would have gone somewhere with better analyses than people at a chain store had I had the option, but I'm in a tiny town and…
  • I told him I wasn't planning on buying shoes on site. He didn't care. My money still went to the same brand. Also, again, he's being paid by the hour, it's not like he helped me for nothing, lack of commission or otherwise. Being fit for running shoes is a free service at this place. Full stop. It's not 'free but only if…
  • Where's the number coming from? A heart rate monitor? Fitbit? Guessing? Unless you were really working incredibly hard, I'd say it was overestimated a bit, maybe even by a lot. I'd maybe eat back half of it, if that, but I obviously don't know how hard you were working. Personally, I don't log cleaning at all, I just let…
  • I think the existence of vegan body builders proves that you don't NEED animal protein. Like everyone's saying, it's more up to whatever your preference is. If you don't want to eat animal protein at every meal, just find other foods that will help you hit your goal. My go-tos are eggs, yogurt, and veggie 'meats' though so…
