It's called Ketosis and has to do with what type of sugars your body consumes first. Basically, if you're not eating enough, your body will look out for your brain first, making sure it has enough glucose to function properly.

Starvation mode is real. It's called ketosis. I don't think you are running that risk, though most nutritionists would recommend more. How long are your shifts? They can't legally prohibit you from eating during an eight hour shift. You could make smoothies, snack on nuts and seeds, or dip fruit in peanut butter.

I would try to eat 1400 calories, if not 1600.

I have lost enough weight to look in the mirror and know my body is different. But I still see fat on my body, if that makes sense. I am no longer fat, but I still have fat. I took a picture of my face the other day and literally stared at it for 5 minutes because I couldn't believe it was me. I still have shock when I…

I'm not qualified to counsel you but I don't think you're doing anything "wrong" to cause weight gain. I would agree, talking to a professional sounds like a good idea.

To me this film was less about juicing and more about the state of obesity in America. At the end of the film I didn't necessarily want to start juicing, but I was left with a sense of awe about the reality of our culture.

Major creep factor! I browsed through Barnes and Noble's site the other day and now I see an ad for the last 10 books I looked at.

Honestly? Give it up and suffer through the cravings for a few weeks. The cravings will dwindle and you'll break any kind of addiction. It's possible, but difficult. If you don't want to quit bread maybe experiment with other types of bread and see if you can stomach any of those. :)

I have lost 4 inches on my stomach but it still looks like it sticks out b/c I've lost inches everywhere else too. I imagine once I get to my goal weight I will still have a belly unless I really try to reduce my bf%.

Diet corporations aren't evil. If she wants to apologize for giving some bad advice then fine but she certainly doesn't speak for all weight loss corps and society as a whole. >:o

Also addiction... your body chemically reacts to certain foods so that you feel like you need them.

I think its really a balance. It's not one or the other. To be healthy you have to mindful of the quality of food you are eating and to lose weight you have to mindful of calories.

Calorie free shots to everyone for each time someone says beef in this thread.

OMG I can't stand this!

I try to think of it this way. People told me I was heavy and needed to lose weight for a long time. Nothing anyone said ever made me do it. Nothing. Living a healthy lifestyle is an internal change. You telling your boss that she shouldn't eat Cheetos, how is that going to help her make an internal change? Don't you think…

I would agree that the cardio DVD isn't stellar but I feel that way about most workout in front of the TV cardio vids. The other workouts are great and kick your but. I'm a big JM fan.

Possible? Sure. Probable? No and not safe if you do. Why does it matter if you lose 30 in a month? 2 pounds a week is pretty good goal. Any month I lose 8-10 is a huge success. I would just focus on eating well and exercising rather than pressuring yourself to achieve a seemingly impossible number.

awesome! Thanks :)

I just started Yoga Glo. Their beginner series was fantastic. I feel like I'm really making progress and Jo explained everything very clearly. I can't wait to start level 1 classes :)

I'm new to yoga but I'm practicing every day (Vinyasa flow for now). Add me!

I can't tell you how many calories to eat or how to appoint your macros, but what I can tell you is to not give up or get so discouraged! Your body tries to stabilize itself naturally and losing weight takes a lot of work. There will be slow weeks and plateaus and times that you might just want to pull your hair out. And…
