  • The 'food addiction' mindset is so MISused. Being a self-proclaimed food addict doesn't make it true. If you suspect you are, go get help. Some people DO have issues with addiction, while a large majority of folks use it as an excuse for why they do the things they do. The OP's intention was to vent/rant a bit about how…
  • This too. Our mall opens early to let walkers in. I hadn't heard of such a thing until a few weeks ago. Commendable attitude IMO :)
  • I was fat. I am less fat, and progressing towards baggy and saggy. Fat isn't who I am, it just is how I am. Right now. It isn't me forever. The saggy baggy part, less so sadly :S
  • B A H A H A H A H A H A H A H A I didn't get any further than that. I agree with your entire message - you CAN eat it, do so, log it move on. But that part right there was my favorite. Props to you. :drinker: :flowerforyou:
  • I couldn't afford to join our local YMCA ($75 a month, are you kidding me?!) so in place of "exercising" I started off just walking around my neighborhood. Good weather, bad weather, cold or hot (tho less in the hot.) I picked up some cheap wrist weights to keep my arms busy while I walked.
  • even if you lose 1 lb per week that totals 52 by the end of the year. 7this month, means youre already ahead of schedule ;-) Keep up the great work!
  • What she said, plus eat your exercise calories back. Why workout if you can't eat?? Never understood that :noway: MFP had suggested I hit 1400 through December and January, and I wound up plateauing through January. I checked out the above link, upped my cals to 1600 (plus workout calories) and my scale is moving again.…
  • Talk about a scale related NSV :P Congrats to you, pretty exciting! You could always take the scale back and swap it out
  • OP Definitely an emotional eater here. Been a work in progress for the last year. Ive come to vent my feelings on walks, and crunchy apples. It's kind of twisted how satisfying crunching into one is when youre seething mad at someone :blushing: My first piece of advice, get yourself healthy stuff to "fall back on" when…
  • I've got a budget of $250 for 4 people ($62/person), which includes food and household necessities like cleaning stuff, shampoo, etc. I used to think it was too expensive to eat healthy until I actually looked around and saw where I could live cheaper AND better. I do know that I would be spending more on the same items up…
  • YAY!! Congrats!! So very proud of you and your accomplishments!!
  • Excellent getting back at it after the accident! You look great!
  • Me from Feb 1st last year to Current. Lost 136 in 1 year due to: Walking regularly, increasing distance and pace gradually. Finding a dietitian who answered every inane question I asked, even if I repeated myself, with patience, kindness, and genuine thoughtfulness behind her responses. She believed in me long before I…
  • Ignore the amount you went over today, carry on tomorrow like it never happened. There are always going to be days that pop up where you go over. The best thing to do is log it and move on like it didn't happen. Stressing about it just fosters guilt and sets you up for another bad day. Good luck!
  • Im on the "don't overthink it" mindset. Truthfully, dont make a ton of work out of weighing your actual food consumed. Weigh it with peelings, call it a serving and move on. Less stress, and you have either gotten it exactly right, OR you have overestimated your calories. Either way it is a winning situation. With that…
  • If you are doing the workouts you claim to be then 1200 is nowhere near enough. "Eat back" your exercise calories at the very least, at the best figure out your BMR/TDEE and eat at that level (which I would bet is a lot higher than 1200!) Move more to eat more. It isn't just a silly idea, it's a way of life! Good luck!
  • excellent NSV!
  • I love how these articles use words like "seem tighter" "appear more tight." It either is, or it is not. "Appear" and "seem" to just give it a tone that says it's a self induced illusion. That Yahoo article indicated that severe loose skin "might have to be corrected with surgery if it is severe, but if not there are many…
  • Met my husband of 10 years online, the details are awkward (read: text based gaming!) Try explaining to the guy who is interviewing you for your pending nuptials how you and your boyfriend met via online gaming, then in person, then how YOU moved 3000 miles east to live with him in a foreign country for 4 years before…
  • Being ranked by society as lower than a 5 does not obligate anyone to settle for someone also ranking in that same "pool" of fish. I can't imagine having someone look at me, say Wow I love your personality but I was aiming for a 7 at least, sorry :) Ive never understood the concept of settling. If you want someone who youd…
  • I feel your pain, totally and unequivocally. Some people have no issues letting fly with thoughtless hurtful noises or words and, really, it just makes THEM look bad. How sad is it when you can't find any other way to make yourself feel better than to bring others, strangers or friends, down with the things you say or do?…
  • Bless your amazing soul. You are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story, showing your inner beauty, and most of all, thank you for not giving up. Faith can do all things.
  • Does TransSiberian Orchestra count? I can't get enough of their stuff :P
  • ^^Absolutely this
  • I started loving myself again, does that count? As per romantic interest, already married but I have a vague recollection of a couple on here being romantically involved via MFP right up to an engagement/proposal via MFP.
  • I used to be able to sleep through the winter months with my window cracked and a fan going cause I always felt too warm Now there are 2 quilts and a thick blanket on the bed, heat is up to 68 through the night, and Im still - so - cold. I hope the acclimation process hurries up :S
  • If you dont want it, I'll take it. Im just that nice :)
  • Wait... There is skin chemistry involved in how perfumes smell on you? How the heck do you know which works and which doesn't? I just assumed if I grabbed one I enjoyed, it would still smell the same when being worn. Now Im going to obsess about my 3 favorite perfumes :( Thanks:brokenheart:
  • If you are 354 at 21 and are comfortable in your rut of working out and eating well, keep going. If you find the food you are taking in isn't enough, increase it a bit but keep your activity normal. If you find youd rather cut back on working out but keep a lowered calorie intake, then do that instead. At 354 you are still…
  • Make a huge salad. Lots of leafy greens, toss in some nuts if you do like them, add other veggies for texture and color (tomato, cucumber, carrot slices, broccoli bits etc) the calorie hit on just some garden stuff is low, and the filling factor is high. Want some protein to go with it, toss in a bit of shredded cheese or…
