That's what my husband says too. And what a lot of others day, you have to lose that fat. Sure, I'm where I want to be weight wise, but still need to burn some more fat off the belly. It's really my only main problem area. It's going to take me a long time. I will admit, I'm not as committed to getting them as I could be.…

Okay, my math sucks so I'm not going to even check this, but I lost 12lbs in four months. I wanted to take it slow because I was training for the half marathon and didn't want to lose too much weight too fast and I needed that fuel for running!
-
I started out wanting to lose 15lbs and set it to 1/2lb per week and that's right about where I lost it. When I was running it was pretty spot on, however, now that I've stopped running and started Insanity (as you know), I haven't lost any weight and I'm still on the 1/2lb-per-week plan. (I got down to 132 from 145 two…

Running and Insanity....and I aim to keep looking for others!

This is exactly what I do! I haven't lost weight and I'm on my fourth week. But holy crap have I tightened up! I wasn't doing Insanity to lose weight, I lost the weight from running. I measured myself when I started and will again next week, I'm thinking I'll be seeing the improvements there rather than the scale. As far…

I'm loving all these posts!! Great posts everyone. For those still struggling, keep fighting. It will become routine. It's worth the struggle, the pain, to have the outcome of feeling energetic nearly everyday, ready for the next workout. Very motivating posts guys and gals!!

I used to have it pretty bad too. I wasn't overweight but could stand to lose 10-15lbs. I rarely exercise so it was just ugly. Four plus months later of solidly working out and losing 11lbs, it's been reduced a lot. I've lost more inches than I ever thought so I surely have a lot more muscle. I don't think one can ever…

I looked it up on mapmyrun.com (I log all my workouts there), it said that 60 minutes of TRX is about 444 calories. I often will log an exercise on MMR then create the exercise on this site. MMR has different options other than running and that's where I get my estimate on Insanity calories burned. Without a heart rate…

I think anyone can "try" Insanity, but there is a clear warning in the beginning of each DVD that this workout is not for everyone. People risk injury if it's too much too soon. If you know someone who is willing to let you borrow it, that's the route I'd go to make sure it's right for you. I have also tried Jillian…

If you're upping your miles, it's likely your feet are swelling. Runners typically buy shoes bigger than their normal foot size to accomodate the swelling. Shoes last I think, 300-400 miles, I'm having a brain fart. It's easy enough to Google though! :-) I'm speaking as a runner so I have no idea how long shoes for like…

My average pace totally depends on race or training and distance doesn't affect my pace too much. I've kept both paces from five miles to 13.1 miles. Race: 8:35pace Train: 9:30pace I've been running off and on my whole life. I had many running nick names growing up. BUT, this is the first year I've dedicated myself to it…

Actually, the same time. This half marathon was next to a river...it actually had an overall elevation loss. My next half marathon will be very hilly so I would be happy to get under 2hrs again. I suppose each time I do a repeat of a half marathon, I'd just like to improve each course time.

It was my fist time using active.com. I'm usually so good about seeing those boxes but I totally missed this one. I feel stupid for it but sometimes we get all excited and skip these types of things. Doh! :ohwell:

I'm going to give myself a year. I did my first half a little over a week ago but want to give my body a year to get used to running, to avoid any injuries. I thought about doing it this fall, but I'm okay with waiting too. I'll be doing at least one, maybe two, halves this fall. Do you have a training plan to follow? Good…

It's kind of like a game isn't it?! Sometimes I wish we could hook up to a diagnostic computer like a car to know where we need to fine tune our mechanics.

I know what you mean. I used to be teased about how I would walk into my mom's house and search the cupboards and freezer for treats. I don't do that anymore. Now they practically shove it in my face but I've learned to say no to the treats. As far as the home cooked food, perhaps keep it to one big meal per day? Eat…

Obviously a person essentially takes more of a beating on the treadmill than the eliptical, but I think you're fine either way. Truth be told, I can run a half marathon, but put me on an eliptical for 20 minutes and I could die! :ohwell: It's just what your body is conditioned to. You can use the treadmill, just work your…

I only know what I hear and from what the above posters said, that's what I too have heard. Metabolism is key here. I hear it over and over again, eat small meals throughout the day. I now do that and I feel 10x better than ever before. I don't stuff myself at dinnertime and I sleep so much better. And eating little bit…

Also, smaller people don't burn as many calories. I have no idea of your size but you look small. That's one crummy thing, the only crummy thing, about getting smaller, you burn less calories. I think for intense exercising, like Rosemarose said, 7-10 calories sounds right. But again, your size is a big factor too.

Insanity is insane. They came up with a perfect name for that one. I completed my second day this morning, wow. Wow. I'm a pretty fit person and can mostly keep up with the people on tv, but I still have to take some breaks like some of them do. Just when you think you're going to puke or faint he gives you a 30 second…

Great advice above! I just completed my first half last weekend, finished in 1hr53min. Don't count calories leading up to the race. I gained 1.5lbs in the week leading up to my race last weekend but I felt fantastic! Get fitted shoes and make sure there are no issues. It sucks to have to buy another pair, but it's worth it…

Welcome and good luck with those last 15 pounds. There is great support on here!

For the first time in all the years I've ran off and on, I started a boot camp once a week and also did a home weight workout once a week. And for the first time, I've had no injuries, no knee problems, just a mild hip pain after 10+ miles. Anyway, the strengthing has helped me tremendously. It's really important for…

Totally agree. Take it slow and rest, rest, rest on your recovery days. If you can't sit still, swim or perhaps bike for cross training. Let those joints rest, rest, rest! Listen to your body. Runners World has great advice on learning to enjoy your run if you pop over to their site. Good luck!

Wow, a LOT of great advice on here! As for your long runs, it can be a daunting thought. But the key advice for those long runs, you're not running for a great pace time. You're simply getting your body used to running for a long period of time. If it means walking at times, so be it! My biggest mistake on my long runs was…

Thanks for starting the group. I was about ready to start a post today wondering about people weaning off meds and seeing if exercise was helpful. You're timing of starting this is uncanny...I'm super thankful! I'm so glad that in this day and age we can talk openly about it. That's a HUGE help factor right there!

Interesting! I'm not a big fan of the smell of lavendar though. I do drink Chamomile when I'm weaning off meds. I read a good book about anxiety and learned quite a bit. Breathing is excellent as mentioned. But also recognizing anxiety is what it is. Recognize it, say, "yes, I have anxiety right now". It is temporary. It…
