  • Hello! My wild ride with anxiety started after my daughter was born in February 2005. I was diagnosed with post partum depression but all I felt was anxiety. I got off paxil in six months though and did fine (I think) until November 2010. I had prk (a form of lasik eye surgery) and had a long, long recovery. I couldn't see…
  • Oh my goodness! Tsk tsk! I take the opportunity to carb load before a race. But if you're tummy doesn't agree, that's really hard! I've gone through a few times in my life where I couldn't stomach anything. I finally got some Ensure to get something down. Water is so important too! I'm sorry you had to learn that…
  • Way to go!! 60's can feel super hot when you're not used to it when you're running. That was the same temp when I did my race and I was sweating pretty hard. Oh and the hills, what a killer! My half marathon this Saturday is all flat and has a little bit of elevation loss, lucky me! I don't know you, but I feel very proud…
  • That's about exactly what I intend to do! But stew? You ate stew? You must really love it!!! I really look forward to that finish line beer tent!
  • That's great! You'll do great! I kind of followed the Novice 2 for my half that's coming up on May 19th. After that I'll take a break from running to do Insanity, Then 12 weeks before my next half in October, I'll jump up to the Intermediate level to improve my time over the one that's coming up. It's exciting, you're…
  • Good idea! HOW DID YOU DO???
  • Second opinions are a must! Third's maybe too. Don't give up. Surgery is so drastic. Keep your head up, keep going.
  • Good luck! My first half marathon is in 10 days as well! Hmmm? ;-) As for the headphones, when you pick up the registration, I'm sure they'll spell it out. If they're allowed, maybe just use one ear. When I run on the roads, I only put the ear bud in my left ear. I can still hear just fine. I agree with the other posters…
  • I've already decided that I will be going some weight training when I start Insanity. I'm pretty much at the weight I want to be, I just want to tighten it all up now. I'm not going to over do it with weights, but I plan to do weights 3x a week while doing Insanity.
  • Nice! I used to mock "healthy baking". I was a dessert snob and wouldn't dare trying healthy desserts, what an abomination! :noway: That is until I've changed my lifestyle and am now TOTALLY open to healthy desserts. I am so excited you started this blog. Can't wait to check it out. I'll bookmark you!
  • I agree!
  • I totally agree. I am always hungry too. It's easy for me to eat as I have a desk job. Instead of making bad choices I pack my lunch full of healthy snacks. Like no fat chobani with dried blueberries and kashi. Another snack is usually baby carrots and grape tomatoes. Another snack is peanut butter on something, like…
  • I've been on Goodreads for about two years now. I absolutely love it and write reviews for almost every book I read! I visit the sight probably 4-5x a week. Addicting!

  • No fun, I'm running a 12k race this weekend and it's finally supposed to have stopped raining! What is your goal time if you have one (and if you don't mind sharing)?
  • My first is May 19th. Thanks for the info, I'll look up his website. I'm running a 12k race this weekend and plan to run as hard as I can. I'll still have two weeks recovery until the half thankfully! :)
  • I read a great article on Active.com for first time racers. Here's the link: http://www.active.com/running/Articles/9-Race-Day-Tips-for-First-Timers.htm
  • ^^THIS^^ I have never felt better in my life. Went from a glass of wine or two a night to nothing. The weight came off, I slept better and my fitness level has really increased. I think if you can quite drinking then no, you're not an alcoholic. If you find that you can't stop, then seek some help. There are great…
  • How dare you say such a foul word! LOL! Burpee's are my enemy in boot camp, I hate them! We try to do as many as we can in a minute and I totally suck. I've seen plenty of people in my class do them with a modified push up. I think modified exercises are perfectly fine, keep doing it and someday you can do a full push up.…

  • 33 female 5'6" 134lbs Size 6???? (I've lost 11 pounds but haven't bought new pants yet, but I'm guessing I'm a size 6 now? Don't want to buy new jeans until I'm exactly where I want to be!)
  • That's EXACTLY how I feel but hubby doesn't. I'm not into that burning copyrighted stuff. I'm not one of those, "everyone else is doing it, why shouldn't you?" type of people.
  • Interval running is high intensity paired with low intensity. If you're running down a hill slowly then speeding quickly up the hill, that could be intervals. But if you're just trotting slowly up a hill, that wouldn't count. My interval running for five miles would be five minutes slow, ten minutes fast, five minutes…
  • How did everyone get their copy? Did you purchase it or get a burned copy?
  • I actually don't work with rewards per say, I work towards goals. When I reach a goal, that's my "mental" reward. For me, losing weight wasn't my goal as much as the exercise was, the weight loss was my reward. My goal was to reach 20 miles per week. Goal reached! My next goal is to get a new PR on a 10k this weekend. The…
  • Good point, gotta be committed. I'm a committed fitness fanatic so I'm 99% sure that I will stay committed to it through the whole thing.
  • Planks are HUGE core builders. I was in a class the other day doing assessments and we tried to see who could hold the plank position the longest. I did but I tell you what, my abs were SOOOO sore the next day.
  • I just bought mine and I'll be receiving it in the mail. I've researched this A LOT! From what I have gathered, it may not give you the muscle tone that P90x can, but it will burn the fat big time. I'm a runner and will be starting Insanity May 20th. I'm hoping that it will help with my running when I pick it back up after…
  • I'm super interested in Cross fit Training! I'm doing a ton of running to train for a half marathon, then after that I'm doing Insanity and then I'd like to try Cross fit to change it up. Where do you guys do it? At a gym? Outside? Oops, I see OP said gym. What kind of gym?
  • Aren't we all? :ohwell:
  • 85.88 running...but I think I might add a couple more miles tonight (I'm in WA state).
  • THIS! And I also make no bake energy bites, I'll eat one or two of those depending on how far I ran.
