  • I'm 5'3" (and 1/2) and the lowest I've weighed recently is 117. With my age, metabolism, etc. It's difficult for me to maintain that weight and I've put on about 4 pounds. I'm trying to get under 120 again. In order to do that, my net calorie intake is supposed to be slightly above starvation level, which is not exactly…
  • Well put, fitwatch; I've found that if I keep within my calorie range I have a better chance of losing weight even if I don't necessarily exercise every day. If exercise allows me to add calories to my day, fine - if not, I don't eat as much.
  • Been there, did that last year! If you've got a disc pushing on the nerve then you might need more than just exercises, but a short course of physical therapy, where you're supervised doing exercises could be your first step. My therapist had me doing a whole lot of core-strengthening plus I did a lot of walking - not…
  • Is it almost "that time of the month?" I have learned over several months to not so much as look at the scale the week before my period because my numbers are all over the place. I just stick to my eating/exercise plan and check in a week later...
  • Your food/exercise diary is only as honest as you are. :-) That being stated, it's a pretty straightforward website and has a lot of good discussions. I tried a couple other sites and this one isn't so "slick" but it's useful.
  • Have you put on a lot of muscle weight? That's a whole lot of exercise you've listed there!
  • Unless you're coming up on your period (which is when I typically gain 4 lbs or so of water weight) it's probably not realistic to lose that much in a week...besides, there's birthday cake probably going to be available and you wouldn't want to miss out on that! :-) With exercise and diet, Halloween might be a better bet…
  • Yesterday I had an idea dinner was going to be big, so I watched my morning calories and went for a short walk. Still, after a lovely meal with my daughter at Qdoba, a fairly high-calorie experience itself, we decided to go for frozen custard for dessert (!!!!). You know what? I enjoyed every bit of it... If you're…
  • Love me some steamed rice, of which I now have 1 cup (205 cal) on Chinese takeout night. I order a large rice and stretch it for a couple of days. Pre-diet I'd eat most of the container at one sitting...
  • I think this quote hits it right on. I'm halfway to my goal and already prepared to have to count calories for the rest of what I hope will be a long life now that I'm getting my belly fat under control. It's not going to be about the reward of seeing the numbers go down on the scale but the knowledge that it's just…
  • You were on vacation; once you get back into your daily routine you'll be just fine. :-)
  • about 10 days ago I "gained" 4 lbs. during my period; I didn't get discouraged and stuck to my calorie plan and, voila - a couple of days after my period I had lost another pound, consistent with my average of 1 lb. a week. Now I know better than to weigh myself every day. :-)
  • 5 pounds in 11 days? That's awesome! :-)
  • I'm 40 too, and I had about 35 pounds to lose; now I have 20. I got an accidental "jump start" last month when I injured my back and was too hurt to trudge off to the food cabinet (or a drive-thru) every couple of hours. Plus, my spouse had to do the grocery shopping, so no junk food came in! The calorie tracker has been a…
