I'm a night eater too. I'm able to easily control what I eat and don't eat until after dinner when it becomes a challenge. The best approach I found was to stop fighting it. So I save a lot of calories for late night snacking. Part of it for me is I just don't like feeling as though I'm out of calories with hours to go…

I'm curious, what do you use on your FT7 that makes it an upgrade for you?
-
For exercise, it's hard to beat the FT-4 for simplicity, inclusion of the things you'll end up using and price. Ebay has them now for $60.

I've gotta second this. I wouldn't smoke anything but vaporizing is a different animal. It does take discipline to not overeat. I wouldn't suggest it for everyone but occasional use works great for me. My pic is a before, my current fitness level is in line with my goals. As far as actually working out on it, I do it from…

I both weigh and measure. When I started a year ago I only weighed. Now after a successful year of weight loss and workouts, I put more credence in measurements.

Know your personality type. I'm a saver, I like to hold on to my daily calories as long as possible, back-weighting dinner and eveining healthy snacks. My gf is a spender, she enjoys breakfast, front-loads calories and then hangs on.

My gym hasn't really seen much more activity yet, maybe the crush begins next week. But 1,000 steps in Laguna has been a pain since Christmas. It's a long narrow set of steps down to the beach so when traffic builds it slows down. I'm going to try it today one more time and if it's crazy I'll wait a month before going back.

I've worked out, both strength and cardio, for the better part of 40 years now. It began because of sports but evolved into a way of life because it's done so much for me. Years ago the availability of information and level of sophistication was of course nothing like today. Even the clothing is way cooler. Although back…

Great post!!! Possibly the best I've seen here on MFP.

I mist on olive oil with a sprayer and add salt, pepper and spices du jour. Teaspoon is around 60 calories. I'll do an extra 5 minutes of exercise for my olive oil. I cook either on the grill or roasted in the oven. Roasted carrots and snap peas make a great snack.

1. Drop 4 lbs. and begin bulking. 2. Increase water intake. 3. Learn disciplined maintenance and bulking. I tend to get there and stop logging. 4. See full ab definition. I'm almost there. Uncovering abs in your 50-s is no small feat. 5. See deltoid improvement. This area lags the rest.
-
Up 2 lbs. but 5 since Thanksgiving. My goal is to lose the 5 by the end of January, then go into a bulking phase lifting. Then by the end of February I'll be better than ever.
-
1,700-2,500 depending upon exercise targeting a loss of 1 lb per week. Looking forward to adding 500 calories when I reach maintenance.

The problem is baking cookies will lead to things like decorating and crying. At least it did for me.
-
At least Pretty Woman isn't in the top five.. 1. Driving a Volkswagen Beetle. 2. Baking cookies. 3. Decorating anything. 4. Asking if you look ok. 5. Watching The Bachelor

1. Get back to my goal weight. 2. Stay as disciplined during maintenance as I do during a loss phase. 3. Increase muscle mass particularly shoulders.

If you are new to this site and have a long road it can seem daunting. Trust that if you commit you can achieve your goals. When I joined, I found others who had accomplished what I was setting out to do and then became friends. You might find guidance, support and inspiration doing the same.

The day before I did weights, today I did an hour of cardio but on Christmas I stuffed my face.

Agree with Emma and Fitnesscocial. The more you can work exercise into your daily routine the better. But even more important is developing a routine you can stick with. Start with deciding on what that is and then cut out calories accordingly, beginning conservatively until you find the right number.

1 hr on Thousand Steps in Laguna Beach followed by a walk along the shoreline. My Christmas penance.

Only eating half of this huge tin of chocolate cookies someone gifted me and then giving it to my ex-wife. I know it doesn't sound like much but it's all I got.

I've had joyful Christmases and those not so joyful. If you come across those having a hard time, why not try and lift them up? Isn't that part of what Christmas is supposed to be about? This year it's joyful for me. But I went through divorce and family breakups that made them not so much fun. So when I see someone…

Yeah they're very beneficial on a number of fronts. The FT-4 is entry level in terms of pricing but it gives you everything you'd really want or need.

I did the research at the beginning of the year and went with Smooth Fitness 8.0LC finding it to have really good bang for the buck and comparable or better in performance compared to high grade gym machines. It has a 10 yr warranty, 2 yrs on home labor and fully returnable for 60 days. Other Smooth models have greater…

I've been doing resistance training for 35 years since I was a teen involved in athletics. The most important consideration is what fits your ability to commit. The increased benefits of doing splits is marginal unless you're talking about serious body building. I've been doing 3X a week full body for years now with…

I don't really like sweet foods and haven't had Hostess stuff since I was a little kid, but I've been Jonesing twinkies and ding dongs all day. Somebody will buy the recipes and make these things again, particularly with the effect this will have on demand for them.

I have no experience with that unit but as an HRM and music listener I'd have some concerns. If one goes bad they both go bad. The other thing is I couldn't tell whether there was an arm or chest band. If it's merely a wrist device I'd have accuracy concerns. I do understand it would be nice to cut down on the devices you…

Exactly. Chipmaniac is correct, you get out of it what you put into it. I can only explain this as lack of familiarity or image.

Does it look like I'm ever not in the rough?

Does it look like I wonder about things?
