Is it ok to ask a question out of context?

I use both, get my heart rate up the same on both, find them about the same in terms of exertion. The step mill is a more macho, for sure.

I confess to planning workouts around conversations with my ex-wife. Really gets the adrenaline flowing, might as well take advantage of it. Afterwards, I've had the conversation and the workout so I feel better.

I had it in both feet. I was an early adopter of orthotics and had been using them in everything from ski boots to exercise shoes. I tried stretching, changing shoes, injections, nothing seemed to help. Then I ran into a physical therapist who suggested I try losing the orthotics and going without footbeds and barefoot…

You have two competing concepts here. On the one hand anything you can't do permanently isn't going to work. So if it's necessary to meet your overall goals long term then that's what would work for you. On the other hand it does take at least several weeks to lose the craving. You might as well see what happens after…

Polar FT-4 is the least expensive HRM that does everything you really need.

I'd get one if I knew I'd like it, but since that's not really possible I won't.

In So. Cal. body hair has been eradicated like crazy. II shave mine not as much because of the trend but wet suit chafing and pulling. You want to move around in and change in and out of a wetsuit with chest hair, be my guest.

Nachos, homemade, just the way I like 'em. Couple of layers of tortilla chips, big dose of grated Irish cheddar, layer of chunky salsa and ground chipotle baked until light brown, then guacamole spooned on top. Think I'm headed to the store for a few things.

Good link, thanks. Fasting may be fine for cardio but for heavy weights, given the point of it, I would think one might want to have the benefit of some food fuel.

There's no limit to what you can do with it. One of my favorite preps for it: Minced sugar plums, a touch of oil, chili paste or Asian v. hot pepper sauce, ground pepper with grilled red onions optional.

Ok, I admit it, I'm a lesbian. There, I feel so much better.

When I first began working out people would do a set and then yield so that others could work in. Today the norm is to defend the equipment until all sets are done. Fine if successive sets prevent sharing but otherwise I prefer the old norm. And I'm not talking Cheers here.

You are definitely inspiring to those of us over, well, you know.

Oh, hell yeah. If you can into your 60-s.

Gina, you've come to the right place. If you stay here, read some of the threads and other resources it might help in giving you motivation and commitment. Don't know if you're exercising but if not that can be a tremendous boost. Plenty of support here from awesome folks so hope you stay.

I salute the Marines for managing to save the victim's one unbroken limb in the fall.

Hey, thanks for the links! For anyone who hasn't seen them or gained their insight, you might check them out. I'm itching to get started gaining muscle at a faster rate and now that I'm almost at my target weight I'm about ready. To the OP, these calculators and metrics are helpful as a start. Before long if you do a good…

At 55, I'm definitely above. But I've lost all my weight since the beginning of the year and gained a whole lost of muscle. You can do it. Age and metabolism can be reversed somewhat in the gym. Feel free to add me if you're looking for male support from someone who's still living young in his mid 50-s.

Wow, fantastic job and great progress pics!

I came home from school at 15 to find a weight set in my room. My hockey coach had told my parents to get it for me. I was kind of crushed but I pulled out the manual and followed the routines. I've worked out ever since.

I routinely eat an hour before bed in fact I'll probably do it tonight. Hasn't seemed to have been a problem.

On just about everything. My latest fling is with Tabasco green pepper sauce. Tapatio if I can't find anything exotic., But my absolute favorite was brought back from China, has Chinese characters on the label and when it's gone....it's gone. Now that I've reduced salt, I double up so as not lose flavor.

The poll doesn't prove a whole lot. Hypothetically I'd leave someone who didn't take care of themselves. In actuality I can't imagine leaving someone I loved because she gained weight.
