  • One of the tricks of the carnivore diet is to drink carbonated water (no sweeteners) when starting because you feel better with eating lots of fats. Also don't drink a lot of liquid fats, wait til they are solid again. I like ground beef but I like to make it and put it in the fridge for a while and let the fats solidify…
  • Actually I’m going to stick with carnivore and not buy miso. For the price($6.50 for 8 oz.), I’d rather buy meat, eggs, butter, or cheese.
  • @GaleHawkins I’m not sure if the fermentation process removes some in natto. Maybe you are right @canadjineh that it’s not as bad as some organizations like Weston A. Price say it is. I know soy in the U.S. usually is full of roundup which has its own issues but maybe organic is better for you. I love miso and miss having…
  • Soy is highly estrogenic so not good for men.
  • How about losing weight with better nutrition with ground beef, steak, and eggs? Carnivore style.
  • Raw grass fed cheese is really high in K2 so I’m choosing that. Also I’m addicted to grass fed unsalted butter.
  • I had covid19 and high doses of vitamin c, e, k2, and d3 helped. They (Eastern Virginia Medical School) also recommend a b complex and a zinc supplement for covid19 but I ate beef, pork, and eggs. I’ll have to take boron again after a long hiatus.
  • [Nonsense] There I added some nonsense.
  • That is the proper way of getting off the meds. I tried to quit them with electrolytes, very little exercise, and/or weight loss. Not a good plan. I’m trying to get health insurance that will allow me to go to the doctor more and then I might be able to do what you did. 3-6 grams lysine and 3-6 grams vitamin C a day and my…
  • I'm trying lysine treatment too because Linus Pauling recommended it for heart disease. Also I previously tried to go off blood pressure meds without exercise or weight loss and I think that's a bad idea for anyone unless you are sure of what you are doing. I thought I was going to have a stroke.
  • Well good luck with your pain treatments.
  • I did a watp 2 mile belly blasting workout. At 1 1/2 miles I just walked slowly though. I did do some 50 lb. farmer's walks. Time for some Beat Saber and VR Boxing.
  • I got to get my fat *kitten* moving or I'm going to die of a heart attack or stroke. Exercise is probably the most important thing I could be doing and only takes about 30-45 minutes for a great workout. Just do it!
  • Thanks for the feedback! I do need to exercise. Just walking and light weightlifting is a start. Also magnesium deficiency could have been part of my problem with chest pains because they really improved with daily magnesium.
  • I'm back on the meds because electrolytes weren't enough. I guess as a complete last resort, exercise may be needed. I'm letting my chest heal so no bench pressing or chest exercises for a while.
  • "Because calcium is typically an excitatory cofactor, the mineral usually enters a cell only when needed for something specific, like a nervous impulse or a muscle contraction. After such an action occurs, magnesium helps active transporters pump calcium out of a cell." magnesium.ca/how-magnesium-works/
  • I like animal foods for cataract prevention. The foods like molasses, fruit juice, and even honey are not worth the nutrients for the amount of simple sugars unless you are doing an extreme workout and not overweight.
  • I think most people want the best and if they have the income, they will have expensive tastes. I don't believe having pasteurized fruit juice is good for you anymore. It loses a lot of nutrition being heated. I'll have it on a rare occasion with some amaretto, but that's about it. But I'm mostly carnivore now, and don't…
  • One thing to watch out for is not to take boron every day but about 5 times a week maximum. It's water soluble so it will leave the body if you have extra with a 2 day break. I can't believe Harvard health after all the garbage they post. I don't think my testosterone is abnormally high either. I was tested to have low…
  • I need to get in the habit of reading books again but it's true that anyone can self publish an eBook nowadays. I have several carnivore books that I've yet to read.
  • I'm liking eye of round and skirt steak now. They are a little cheaper than ribeyes and still tasty. The eye of round steaks are pretty lean but I get plenty of fat from other sources.
  • So I decided to up the magnesium, salt, and potassium chloride and seem to be doing well on half dose blood pressure meds. I will be switching to 1/4 dose soon and then hopefully none. I'm getting chest pains still but not very much. I have a loose xiphoid process. Does anyone have info on that causing chest pain?
  • I've also read that with adequate magnesium in a cell, calcium is balanced and extra is forced out. I really would like to remember where that was from though. Dairy is good for the bones as long as they are getting all the other essential minerals but not in excess like a lot of people get.
  • That's a great study, @GaleHawkins, that was one of the convincing studies for me to take boron in the first place. It's raised my testosterone really high and I don't take it all that often anymore. Boron + oysters are a crazy combo. @KnitOrMiss had a lot of knowledge that was beneficial. I'm going to take boron again…
  • I know that magnesium helps stop calcium buildup in cells. I'm not sure where I read it though. I think it was in the Magnesium Miracle too but that’s not where I first read it.
  • I'd like to check out his diet but it's all behind a paywall. One point is that he thinks the Methionine-Glycine Ratio is so important and that you need collagen. Of course he sells collagen. I think this is easily solved with delicious kielbasa a few times a week if it's even necessary. Maybe it does have some benefit and…
  • I think Chris Masterjohn is really smart but wrong in some things like most gurus.
  • I couldn’t stand Mg oil so I just use mineral drops mostly. Oysters, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds are all high in magnesium. I’m about 90% carnivore but started eating nuts and seeds again. Epsom salt baths are great as well.
  • Thanks for the study, @canadjineh I feel sorry for the two in the control group that died when vitamin D could have saved them.
  • I think all the fat soluble vitamins are very important and should be balanced as much as possible. I’ve heard d3 is good to take to fight covid19 so I wouldn’t be surprised if the rest of the fat soluble vitamins might help. I’ve just heard that magnesium oil on the soles of the feet are a good transdermal way of getting…
