  • Merby is great! I watched Oly verses Your Mom today, and it left me feeling really sad. Did you watch the USARS tournament?
  • All the senior skaters in my league say that the Aluminum plates are much better. I actually saw a chick snap a nylon plate in half while skating, and she wasn't even in a bout or doing anything major. If you're not planning on being competitive, I don't see a problem with the nylon plates. Now if you are planning on…
  • Yeah skating the diamond is by far the easiest way to skate those laps. On your first straight away you have to get going and stay on the outside of the track. Then as you approach the curve, you start strong crossovers on the inside line. This will essentially throw your body in high gear, and as you come out you go to…
  • My training league has 3 groups before we are draft ready, and in level 2 we have to complete 25 in 5 minutes. In level three, they want us to be able to do 30 in 6. You are so close, and can do it! Always remember to do big cross overs in the turn, skate the diamond the whole time, and breathe! You've got this!
  • So are you a bouter that can't do 25 in 5? I'm just trying to get a better knowledge of what is required in other leagues. My plans are to quit smoking, so I can step up my endurance. So far I'm failing miserably :( My other goal hopefully in the near future is to be able to do 1 foot weaves (right and left).
  • I have a Sports Instruments monitor, but I don't wear it during practice. I wear it when I do session skating. It has a band that goes around your lower chest, and a watch part, so all that business during practice doesn't seem reasonable to me.
  • I'm in the training league of North Texas Derby Revolution in Denton, Texas. We Have a three step grouping in this league, and we advance at our own skill, and readiness. I'm in 2 of 3, and am gearing up to do my 25 in 5, 1 foot weaves on both feet, and toe stop runs in all directions plus some in order to advance to group…
  • Oh that's interesting. My league doesn't have a set amount of time that we are Crash Test Hunnies. We test at the pace that is comfortable for us. Of course there's certain skill sets and WFTDA testing that we have to do prior to being bout worthy, but I like not having a deadline.
  • Welcome to the club :) I've been skating my leagues training group for a month come this Saturday. How is your fresh meat program put together? Mine has 3 levels that have to be passed before we become bout worthy.
  • Not a lot. We do a 7-7-7 drill with it, but that's the only one I can think of off hand.
  • We have 4 different groups within one huge league. So between the training womens group, the bouting women, the mens league, and the junior league we practice everyday. I'm in the training group called Crash Test Hunnies, and we practice Monday nights, and Saturday mornings. I've noticed the lack of posting also :)
  • All my leagues top skaters swear by Antiks. One of our coaches, who is also in the men's league is sponsered by Grn Mnstr and wrote an awesome boot review on our league's forum about boots. If you want, I can copy and paste it for everyone to see. It's full of awesome info!
  • I'm Randi, and I'm a Crash Test Hunnie with North Texas Derby Revolution. I've only been skating heavily for almost 3 weeks, and currently on the training team.
  • Hi my name is Randi. I'm freshmeat, and have my first practice on Saturday. I'm joining North Texas Derby Revolution. I'm comfortable on skates, but need some work; so I will be a Crash Test Hunnie for at least 45 days then do my WFTDA testing. I wanted to start skating again a few years ago, but pregnancy stopped me. Now…
  • I'm a pescetarian, but eat vegetarian most of the time. Now straight edge is not for me; I like beer and cigs a little too much.
  • For me it's both. When I start a new exercise program, I lose rapidly. By the end it's a slow but steady .5-1lb a week. I know a lot of my loss is heavily dependent on how aggressive my exercise is, and if I've been beer and sodium happy.
  • I am the same way. Right now I'm 150lbs at 5'3, and wear a size 8. Right after pregnancy at 181lbs I wore a size 10. I was concerned for awhile about losing 31lbs and only one size. Then I started thinking about the fact that I've always been an athlete, and my muscle takes up a lot of space :)
  • What a difference. Great job!
  • I think it's better to see post like this! I don't care for the "I lost a billion pounds overnight" threads. Congrats at losing in a practical, and safe pace :flowerforyou:
  • I actually started using it with water before anything else, so the taste doesn't bother me. I like the strawberry with water the most; you just have to make sure to mix it well, cuz it will leave chunks in the water, and those suck.
  • Oh yeah almonds and trail mix are loaded with great things, and higher in calories! You will probably go over in fat due to these items, but remember it's good fat! Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated are friendly fats, trans is your enemy, and limit saturated.
  • You should look into medicaid. If you meet the qualifications, it gives you insurance at no cost. It's awful watching or going through eating disorders, and what a lot of people don't realize is more people are affected by them then we think. There's a misconception that eating is the main problem in the disorder, but the…
  • You should probably seek a nutritionist and pyschologist's advice. It seems like there's a bigger problem other then not achieving 1200 calories. It seems like if there wasn't some mental block, finding things to meet the calorie goal wouldn't be so uncomfortable.
  • I had that mentality until I joined the Eat More to Weigh Less group. Once joining, I did a metabolism reset and was shocked at the calories I had to consume. After 1 month of the reset, my 2 month plateau broke! I have been eating more since May, and have continually lost weight at my appropriate speed.
  • I'm with the people that use it to supplement when lacking protein. I also use Body Fortress; I like the strawberry, and just put it in water.
  • 27 going on 28, and starting college again on Monday. I'm going for an associates of Applied Science in Ultrasonography! Good luck to everyone!
  • I haven't had my thyroid levels checked in over a year, but somehow convinced myself that my thyroid is under productive. I don't use much Western Medicine anymore, so I began taking supplements that help promote a healthy thyroid function. I take Chlorella, Spirulina, and Thyroid Energy. I've seen a major change, but I…
  • I love the scooby site! MFP set my BMR too low, and for almost 2 months I plateaued due to it. Once using the scooby calculations, I started losing at a great rate. My numbers on here are based on scooby.
  • Bit of a mix up on my comment; I love that you have microbore luer locking Tports. My clinic only has macrobore luer locking, and slip microbore. The macrobore tports are the ones people can't tape properly.
  • Well maybe Chalean Extreme plus a little extra cardio could help you. I'm doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred 5 times a week, and will usually add extra cardio like my treadclimber, stationary bike, or weighted hula hooping 3 days a week. Also have you used a TDEE calculator? You may not be fueling your body appropriately.…
