Help me net 1200 calories! (food diary)

I always seem to miss the 1200 net calorie mark, and this really bothers me. I'm worried about the possibility of going into starvation mode. Being surrounded by eating disorders and unhealthy lifestyles for a large portion of my life, I REALLY don't want to follow that path again.

Over the course of the past month, I've upped my net calories from only 400 or so a day to 700-1000, but I STILL can't hit that magic number. Even when I'm eating 1400 calories a day, the net is incredibly low. And I feel so full already...

Looking at my food diary (now public), is there anything any of you would recommend I do?

Yeah, I've been trying to incorporate more peanut butter and cheese into my diet, but then I go WAY over on my fats, which makes me a little nervous. Unfortunately, I hate avocados and olive oil... :/ And I have trouble putting down my regular portions, much less larger ones! lol... it's a work in progress. No wonder I was so exhausted all of last year...

The cookies thing sounds fantastic, though :)

I always save 100 to 150 calories a day for a treat:)) Skinny Cow has a awesome line of ice creams. The caramel truffle bar is 110 calories of deliciousness....and not that big or filling, so you won't feel stuffed.

Try not to worry too much about the fat. Your body will benefit from these types of fat.

You're completely right. Just seeing those red, negative numbers makes me anxious, though. It's exactly how I feel looking at my bank account!

You should probably seek a nutritionist and pyschologist's advice. It seems like there's a bigger problem other then not achieving 1200 calories. It seems like if there wasn't some mental block, finding things to meet the calorie goal wouldn't be so uncomfortable.

I'll have to consider that. Currently, I don't really have the money to go to a nutritionist or a psychologist. Honestly, though, it is an issue I'll probably need to address soon. One of my best friends has an eating disorder, and I see her suffer through it every day...I definitely don't want to be in the same place.

I hadn't really considered seeking medical help for that before. For now, I think I'll continue trying to up my caloric intake, but I'll definitely have to keep that in mind. Thank you.

You should look into medicaid. If you meet the qualifications, it gives you insurance at no cost.

It's awful watching or going through eating disorders, and what a lot of people don't realize is more people are affected by them then we think. There's a misconception that eating is the main problem in the disorder, but the mental aspect is what controls it all. As someone that was borderline as a teenager, some of you comments sound a lot like me.

In the meantime, you can try adding in things like Whey Protein. It's a powder that you can add to water, juice or milk. It will increase you calories, and up protein. I personally like to mix protein powder with Odwalla fruit smoothies. Everything is healthy and very beneficial

Oh yeah almonds and trail mix are loaded with great things, and higher in calories! You will probably go over in fat due to these items, but remember it's good fat! Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated are friendly fats, trans is your enemy, and limit saturated.

I definitely agree with you there. We both started trying to lose weight together, a few years ago, and that's pretty much what started it all...you know, swapping dieting and exercising tips that weren't exactly healthy. Eventually, I got over it, but apparently not as much as I'd like to believe.

And that actually sounds really great. I've been making smoothies more often lately, so I definitely have somewhere to put it! Don't know about using it with water though... does it affect the taste?

I actually started using it with water before anything else, so the taste doesn't bother me. I like the strawberry with water the most; you just have to make sure to mix it well, cuz it will leave chunks in the water, and those suck.

I'm having the same problem. I think I made it over 1400 calories yesterday thanks to having a bowl of ice cream, which I'll probably do again tonight. Many days I have a hard time making it to 1000 and I always eat when I'm hungry. I'm vegetarian and have been watching my carbs so that doesn't help my situation either.
