  • I actually did not do 5x5. I kind of got into my own programming by combining knowledge from a couple different programs. I did a TON of research in order to come up with (what I thought) was the best programming for me for the goals I was after and that's how I dictated my training. There were some things I took from 5x5,…
  • As I learned the lifts in Powerlifting and really got into benching, I learned that a wide grip bench is typical for powerlifters as TR0berts stated, because it reduced range of motion. Bench is by far my weakest lift and I have been working on accessories and finding the right hand placement for me to capitalize on my…
  • Thanks everyone :) I really appreciate all the good vibes! Since the competition I have lost a few more pounds. Still eating the same and little to no cardio (walking at an incline once or twice a week for 20 minutes at 2.5 speed... basically just gives me alone time on the treadmill to catch up on How I Met Your Mother…
  • You look awesome! I'm competing in my first powerlifting competition this weekend, so I'll friend you! I'm nervous as well but excited beyond anything.
  • I am 5'0 (Shortest one on this thread! Hurrah!) and 130 lbs. I am losing slowly on 1650/day. I don't count exercise calories. If I'm still hungry after I eat my 1650 and I worked really really hard in the gym that day or the previous day, I eat more. I used to starve myself and eat 1200 or less, but then I decided to use…
  • Personally, micro nutrients are more important to me than macro nutrients. I'd rather be over on carbs/fat/protein if it meant I was getting my essential amino acids, vitamins, minerals, etc.
  • I am competing Dec 6 also! Hellertown PA. Good luck :) It'll be my first meet.
  • I think it's funny that people get in shape for vacations when purely it's only because they want to take pictures and show others when they get back how good they looked in a bathing suit. Especially nowadays with social media, the main part of going to the beach is taking a picture in your bikini and uploading it to…
  • If you don't want to eat in the morning, you don't have to. The old adage that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" isn't true. (but it IS the tastiest  ) You can just choose to have your calories later in the day. Nothing wrong with that.
  • Deadlifting is my favorriitteeeee. It didn't use to be though. I top out my biggest lift at 235 now, and I only weigh125 pounds. Working my way to 2x body weight! BUT it is extremely scary to see people attempt them at the gym that don't know what they're doing. Maybe that's why people shy away from them.
  • There's nothing wrong with trying some things out. Not everyone on here will have the same lifestyle/advice/opinion, etc. I, myself, follow IIFYM (if it fits your macros) meaning I eat whatever I want as long as I follow my macro guidelines. Right now I am loosely following and not really counting, as it kind of messes…
  • I would say since you were new and it was your first time with the trainer, she probably wanted to go over good form first. I'd say something next time you work with her that you liked the workout last time, but feel like you can handle more weight this time. I doubt she'd tell you no. She probably just wanted to make sure…
  • We have the same measurements if you shrunk 4 inches lol. I'm actually 125 pounds but my measurements are 34, 26, 36. I'm 5'0. Body fat 18%.
  • I run with my food scale so when I throw up I can at least measure it, then deduct properly from there.
  • My calves are like the same size as my thighs. No joke. (okay maybe exaggerating a liiiitle). Rock it anyway. I agree with the stretchy jeans post lol Jeggings are my new best friend.
  • Very nice logic. I like dat. :flowerforyou:
  • I'm going to eat a whole cake on my birthday! Not really....... but probably. It's once a year!
  • Sometimes you can add calories without adding a huge amount of food. Cooking with butter instead of a cooking spray, buttering your veggies, getting full-fat versions of things: milk, cheese, PB, etc. instead of the "fat free" versions. If he wants to gain weight, eating calorie reduced foods for any reason would not be…
  • YOU. ARE. ALL. SO. FREAKING. FANTASTIC. AND. INSPIRATIONAL!!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • Awesome job! Mom of 6!!???? You deserve to be congratulated on that alone!
  • Clif bar or rice cake with PB- can eat on the go and not enough substance or liquid to make you feel sloshy, but you aren't feeling hungry either.
  • Almond milk has lots fewer calories than cow's milk, but less protein. Also more expensive. I drink almond milk and love it. I wouldn't say you're intolerant to either gluten or lactose if you aren't having symptoms like stomach ache, diarrhea, nausea, etc, but I've had that before from drinking milk where you develop more…
  • That is amazing! Kudos to you for doing all of that! I am not a fancy person in any way and wouldn't even know what a nice place setting looked like if it hit me in the face, so I absolutely don't mind eating out of tupperware (I actually love tupperware and buying new tupperware) or off our 10 year old chipped plates at…
  • Start doing research on some plastic surgeons if you are so concerned about it. Lots of people get them done these days, especially women who lost a lot of weight or body fat. But no, there are no foods that will specifically make your breasts grow and not any other part of your body.
  • There are tons of gyms that have tanning beds, not just Planet Fitness. It's not a new thing. The PF I go to actually has a lot of muscular guys, all pretty much in their late teens or early 20s as most of us can't afford anything when we get out of college. They probably go somewhere else for bench, squat, and dead, but…
  • I belong to Planet Fitness and I actually like it for the amount you pay. 10$ a month is hard to beat. I don't know where some of these Gold's gyms are that people are talking about but when I went to Gold's it was 20$ for a student, 30$ for an adult. The Y is 30 for student, Champs Fitness near me is 20$ per month, etc.…
  • It's in Bloomsburg PA, here is the link. http://www.revolutionpowerlifting.com/forms/2014CampusChaosEntry.pdf The only reason I chose this one is because it's closest. Also, I'm glad you mentioned about the wraps. I don't train in them and I was worried that I should start using them or that I should be training in them…
  • Here is the meet I'm trying to train for in PA. It has options for just doing certain lifts only or doing all of them. http://www.revolutionpowerlifting.com/forms/2014CampusChaosEntry.pdf The tips you offer are good advice! I will work to learn the rules and regulations for this federation and this meet.
