First Powerlifting Meet! (AND losing 12 pounds with 0 cardio!)
Hi Everyone, So I'll get right into it. I decided in July to sign up for my first powerlifting meet. I had just really gotten into powerlifting and wanted to sign up so that I had a goal in mind and couldn't back out of it. I was literally so nervous this weekend leading up to the meet. First of all, I cut 12 pounds over a…

Lifting Success (NSV-video)
This success isn't about losing weight..... to me, it's even BETTER! I used to hate deadlifts. I couldn't get my form right, I couldn't keep my grip, I felt weird. In January when I really started working on my dead lift technique, I would practice with just the bar. I slowly started adding weight until I pretty much maxed…

BRAG About Your Lifts! NSV
I want people to comment about the BEST/ HEAVIEST lift they've done! Whether it be on squat, bench, deadlift, curls, etc. Be proud of what you have achieved! I'll start the boasting party. I hit 215 today on deadlifts. I weigh 125 so that's pretty awesome for me! I <3 deadlifts. What about you!? We work so hard in…

First Powerlifting Meet
I really want to do a power lifting meet. There's one about an hour away from me in September, so I figured that's about as best time as any. I have been lifting for about 2 years. Most recent max's before Christmas were 185 squat, 145 dead, and I don't even mess with bench. I'll probably only sign up for squat or dead…

Ladies- Think About It
This one is for the LAAADIIESSSSS *in a really cheesey club DJ voice*. :glasses: I wanted to throw this out there and hopefully it'll make one woman think about it today. (This could be applied to men too, but I'm going to address da females). Chances are if you are a woman, you have some sort of little girl looking up to…

A Different Kind of Transformation
So this post is a little different from others that might be posted on here. Everyone that knows me knows that I'm a huge advocate for self-love and extremely against any type of negative thoughts such as "I'm fat," "I have thunder thighs," "I hate the way I look," etc. but I am not sure everyone knows WHY I am SO adamant…

That Dang Processed Food! DEVIL!!!!!
I'm all about eating whatever you want, when you want, how you want, with who you want, with what you want......... ok you get my drift. But I am critical of the naysayers- OMG DON'T EAT THAT ITS PROCESSED WTF ARE YOU DOING YOU'LL DIE. Or WORSE! YOU WON'T LOSE ANY WEIGHT!!!! Below are two bags of chips. On the left, kettle…

Call to All Females- Please Listen.
This week is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. This is something that is extremely close to me, as I struggled for years with self image, self esteem, body issues, and eventually an eating disorder. The statistics for eating disorders in the US and other developed countries are growing rapidly each year. And…

Best Protein Powdder- Opinions?
I am looking to try a new protein powder for variety. Currently I use MusclePharm Cookies and Cream and LOVE it... I could buy it again but I'm just curious what other types are out there that people enjoy. I am looking for positive reviews on taste, consistency/mix-ability, and how well it cooks (if you've cooked with…

My Transformation! (pics)
Okay so I'm posting this for a few reasons. There are so many amazing, absolutely incredible people on this website who have lost a staggering amount of weight. There have also been inspiring people who maybe haven't lost much weight but have transformed their bodies from flubby fat into rock hard muscle. I commend ALL of…

Need Help With Calories
So during the week I eat about 1200 calories, depending on what I burn that day. However, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I pretty consistently eat (and log) 2000+ calories and also what I burn. If I do the overall math for the week I come out to between 1500 and 1600, which is 200-300 below my TDEE. I guess my question is…

First Half Marathon- DONE
First, let me apologize to all my friends on MFP for being very absent recently. I have had many things going on in my life and haven't had the time devoted to logging and the community like I should have. I am finally getting things straightened out and can be back as a supporter again :) Now for my success! I ran my…

NSV- I did WHAT!?
All of my friends on here have already congratulated and praised me for this little NSV yesterday, but I am still super stoked about it. Yesterday I ran 9 miles. WHAT!?!?? And I ran the entire thing at a 11:15 pace, didn't stop to walk once. The farthest I ever ran at one time previous to that was 6 miles. Never in a…

Weight Gain- the Scale and I Broke Up (pics)
For the past 3-4 years I have always lingered around 115 pounds. I'm a very active person, I love running, lifting, zumba, spinning, any type of class I can get my hands on, etc. Well, some time between New Years this year and March, probably a two month time span, I gained 10 pounds. I'm not even exaggerating. This…

Biggest NSV in a long time- First 5k!
So I already plagued my friends with this awesome achievement earlier this weekend when it happened, but I wanted to share it with everyone. I absolutely hated running in high school, couldn't even make it through the dreaded "mile" that we had to run for our fitness test twice a year. I despised it. Two years ago I…

Healthy When Significant Other Isn't
Just was curious about others' opinions on this topic. Often times I see people post on here that they're really trying to lose weight/ be healthy/ exercise, but their significant other doesn't want anything to do with it. Sometimes they say that it's just impossible for them to lose weight since their…

I GAINED 9 pounds!! What!? (pics)
Okay, so I'm really posting this 50% for my benefit, 50% for your benefit. And when I say "your" I mean anyone who is scared of the scale moving even .5 pounds. That used to be me too. I have really struggled with my weight over the years. I've never been obese, just extremely extremely self conscious. I've been through…

Emotional breakdown- will it end?
I recently had to break things off with my fiance. Long story short, people change. And those who you thought wouldn't mistreat you, do. Things you thought would never happen become reality. I'm an adult, I get that. But now I have no appetite. I am basically forcing myself to eat, which never, ever happens to me. I…

Clean Eating Tips
I am starting a clean eating lifestyle this week. My sugar addiction has just gotten out of hand and I'd like to have an overall healthier lifestyle, not just meaning low-fat/ low calorie. I am trying to get away from the processed foods. That's the whole point of clean eating... blah blah you all know this. My question…

Intermittent Fasting
I've been researching the benefits and downsides of IF and I've been thinking about trying it. I was just wondering if anyone has had success on this lifestyle? By success, I don't just mean weight loss or fat loss. I'm also wondering how it affected your mood, energy, exercise regiment, etc. Also, if you are on this…

Crossfit?
I have been doing research on Crossfit and I think I would like to give it a go at some point in my life. I'm always trying new things and expanding my fitness knowledge/ experience. Right now I'm doing New Rules and am loving it so I'm going to wait till I finish the program to start anything new, but I wanted some other…

Another Topic about Women Getting Bulky from Weights
This makes me nervous posting these, because I hate sharing pictures of myself... but I thought that any proof out there that can show women that lifting will help your core and will not make you bulky is beneficial. I have only been lifting for 3 weeks on the NROLFW program, but I am LOVING it and seeing results already!…

Gaining Weight
So I upped my calories when I started the program from 1300 to 1600. I sometimes eat less on rest days. I have gained 5 pounds in two weeks. I know it's all about how your body looks... I am not seeing any changes yet, but I didn't expect to. I also didn't expect to gain 5 pounds and for my pants to be a little snug in the…

Month 2- Crazy!
I was just wondering if anyone else feels like they want to die during Month 2!? I absolutely loved Month 1.. never missed a workout. (I want to go back!) But with Month 2 I am dragging my feet to get these workouts in. I took off 3 days so far to go for a run and go to the gym because I am starting to get tired of it and…

Progress Pictures?
I am starting this program next week and would LOVE if anyone here that has already started the program would post their progress pictures! Or even their progress measurements!

Changing up your food
I always see/hear people talking about how you should change up what you eat from day to day because your body can get used to what you're eating. I really don't understand that. If you are eating your macros and eating healthy things like fruits, veggies, lean meats, etc. why do you have to change it up, if not just out…

Is anybody here low-carbing?
I'm almost done with Month 1 of Insanity and throughout the past three weeks I've brought my carb intake down from 150 to 30 carbs. I want to give this low-carb thing a try because of all the articles I've been reading. It seems to really benefit the body. I was just wondering if anyone else is on a low-carb diet while…

Diet during Insanity
I am on the last week of month 1 of Insanity and I LOVE IT! I feel great and I'm seeing some results, but feeling many results. My question for you all is are you following the Nutrition Guide or are you on your own diet? I was trying to do low carb at the same time as Insanity and I just feel myself being hungry and…

Question about macros
Today I am under on calories, but over on all of my macros except protein. I am out of protein powder and am waiting for the new shipment to come in, so I am struggling to get in all of my protein at the moment. My question is should I just let myself be under on calories today or should I push my carbs and fat macros over…
