Clean Eating Tips

I am starting a clean eating lifestyle this week. My sugar addiction has just gotten out of hand and I'd like to have an overall healthier lifestyle, not just meaning low-fat/ low calorie. I am trying to get away from the processed foods. That's the whole point of clean eating... blah blah you all know this.

My question is- I've been looking on the internet for clean eating recipes, and some of them still include whole wheat pasta, bread, brown rice, etc. Are these things okay to eat on a clean-eating diet? I thought you were supposed to stray away from these types of carbs. I could definitely be wrong, I don't know much about the lifestyle. So that's why I'm asking. Any tips or input you could give me would be great. Thanks!
