  • SO many cutie puppies on this thread.... I had to share my two rescues :) I have a hound-mix named Kody (5.5 years old) She's the thoughtful, mild-mannered sweetheart everyone wants for a first dog: And our newest addition, Riley. She's 7 months now, but the picture is from when we first adopted her at 12 weeks. She's the…
  • I have a sweet hound mix that I adopted from the SPCA when she was 1.5 years old. She is now 5.5 and I love her to death. She is a great walker, but not the best running buddy (she's too distracted at that speed- I spend most of my energy trying to re-focus her!) I would LOVE to get a puppy (one who will chase a ball,…
  • Although I am not a heavy drinker (Moderate- and I prefer wine) I did give wine up for lent last year and it helped SIGNIFICANTLY with weight loss. I did notice that I slept more consistently, too (fewer wake-ups at night). Even three-four glasses a week was impeding my weight loss. Of course, at the end of lent I started…
  • The Last Unicorn in your pants. Huh. I pulled out one of my childhood favorites for an "easy read" but I guess it's just dirty!
  • I've decided that I'm done with cheap sports bras forever... the girls are too important to skimp on! The cheap bras fall apart faster and chaff on long runs... no good!! And padded sports bras? Clearly the manufacturer doesn't think you'll be working too hard with those on! I love, love, love my high impact Under-Armour…
  • Hey! I happened to eat a dog treat before! It was gourmet and covered in what looked like chocolate! It turned out it was wax. And gross. But, it was an experience i won't forget. or repeat. or recommend!!
  • I'm surprised at the number of people who put PB in their oatmeal! I thought I was weird to do that. I guess not. I especially love the Honey Roasted crunchy PB in mine... I eat it before every long (10 miles or more) run.
  • Gender: Female Age: 26 Height: 5'5.5" (that 1/2 inch is very important to me!) SW: 148 CW: 146 GW: 125-130 NSV goals: Get a PR while running my second-ever full marathon in April  . Tone up some of the flab I have going on upper-body-wise :embarassed: .
  • My "Spike days" are usually after a LONG run. After said long run I treat myself to a glass of wine (or two). I am always 2-3 lbs heavier the next day due to water retention. So predictable. Still so annoying!!
  • I think so, too! I'm playing!
  • What great progress you made TOGETHER! I love it! Great job!
  • I work in an office with (mostly) all men. My boss says, to err on the safe side, you should NEVER comment to a women on: 1) age 2) weight 3) pregnancy status. So, maybe people are worried about offending you? Remember, you're doing this for you! That's all that matters.
  • I was surprised coffee wasn't listed sooner! Coffee for me. Then, probably eggs or onions.
  • My favorite power song (the one I listed to when I need to pick up the pace at the end of a long run and I'm tired) is seven nation army- the white stripes
  • GOOD SHOES! Also, I tend to warm up at a slower pace for the first 1/2 mile or so, then I stop and stretch. (I don't really stretch BEFORE running, but early on in the run and whenever I feel I need to stop and stretch as I go.) The soreness should begin to fade with proper shoes and stretching. Good luck!
  • Ha Ha!! Do you know what a plethora is?? Ha ha!
  • It's so tough not to gain that "freshman 15" what with all the (fattening!) options. Maybe have a salad as the main portion of your meal, and an entree as a side? So, fill up on fresh leafy greens and then pick a smaller portion of a pasta/chicken/meat dish to go with it? I was lucky at college, at breakfast they always…
  • I had a great plan to make finger foods: shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers and the like, but then my freezer/fridge died right after we got home from Christmas :( So, we only have a small mini-fridge and we lost almost all our freezer food... therefore, left over (homemade) chicken pot pie for dinner tonight (one of the…
  • In Miss Piggy's defense (as far as not slimming down) she has genetics working against her! (She was born a pig!)
  • We share a printer in my office of 18. ONE PRINTER. I hate it when someone prints out 30 copies of the SAME THING (usually several pages) instead of walking 4 doors down and using the COPY MACHINE! And, or course, the excessive-printers who are too lazy to make copies are WAY to lazy to go get new toner when they run it…
  • That's Great!!! Doesn't it feel great to move your own body that far? Most people would just jump in their car! Welcome to the addictive world of running!
  • The heat and humidity of South Carolina summers can be miserable... I swim a ton! And run in the mornings right as the sun comes up.
  • I had knee pain until I got my gait analyzed by a running store (I went to TriSports)... now I'm pain free! Don't forget that they make footpods to attach to your shoe laces to track your pace and mileage... Of course, if you get bitten by the running bug you may just have to invest in a fancy GPS-enabled watch to track…
  • I get headaches when I don't get enough fluids... But maybe you have to cut calories more gradually to avoid the headaches?
  • Just remember... you aren't losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle for anyone else... it's for YOU!!! So, the compliments are nice, but the way you feel about yourself is what matters the most! PS- Congrats!
  • I'm running my first marathon in 3 weeks about 2 hours away!!! My running buddy and I are going the day before and getting a hotel, but we picked a location that is pretty similar in terrain to what we train on. I have run half marathons locally and traveled for them. My advice is: 1) Don't camp the day before running a…
  • I'm going to jump on the band-wagon and say I'm also training for a marathon... and haven't lost a pound. Actually, I've gained about 5. My Marathon is in 5 weeks, and I stopped logging (out of frustration, mostly). I'm going to get back to logging everything I eat... and after the marathon, I'm going to take a break from…
  • I totally ask for running gear for birthdays and holidays! I never realized before I got into running what an expensive activity it can be (registering for races, buying shoes when they wear out, buying running clothes that don't cling to you and make you miserable) I got a really nice running skirt for my birthday that I…
  • This looks tasty! A healthy pumpkin pie without the crust!! Thanks for sharing!
