I turned 50 at Christmas - started running soon after. I agree with the comments on the "good shoes". I started very slow - 4.3mph, then 5.0 mph, now I'm at 5.3. I warmup, run a mile, then interval to get 3 miles in. I haven't had any issues regarding injury.......I believe the key is to take is slow and work your way up…

I have an instant oatmeal packet (one that's high in fiber) and instead of milk, I dump in a container of greek yogurt in (for protein) - it's yummy - tastes like baby food LOL!

Good comments from everyone - in lieu of repeating all the food choices everyone gave you, I would strongly recommend "friending" people and looking at their diary's. I do it and it provides great food ideas when I get bored! Feel free to add me!

Just do it girl! You never can count on others to help fulfill your goals - don't let them stop you! I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and don't know anyone - but I'm certainly motivated once I'm there! Good luck to ya!

Ditto on the rum and diet, order a tall so it lasts longer - easy to get at any bar!

You would basically be having sauce over veges - don't go into it thinking it will taste or feel like spaghetti. I love squash so it's a good meal - you would still be getting carbs but better carbs.
