i'm completely satisfied with my FT4... i really only wanted to know my HR, when i'm "in the zone", and the cals burned during workouts. the differences aren't major, and for me it wasn't worth spending the extra $$ for the features of the FT7. you can compare them on the Polar website and decide. they may be really high in sodium, so you might be retaining a lot of water weight for your weigh-in day. i sometimes slip on friday/sat, so my weigh-in days are tues and fri mornings... at least for now!
