A good Heart Rate monitor that asks for height, age, and weight is your best bet. They can be a little pricey, but are worth it. If not, use your best guess. Many people will only allow themselves to eat 1/2 of their exercise calories in order to account for that variance.

Low iron could be another culperate!

Have you had your thyroid checked??? I have a hypo thyroid and if it goes untreated, it can make you exhausted even when you are not doing much. I was sleeping 16 hours a day, before I was diagnosed. A little meds and I perk right up.

You might want to look at the P90X program then. It's got a lot of push ups and pull ups incorporated into the program.

Since when I go to the gym I am working out with my students I do try to look put together with decent work out clothes. I either put my hair in a ponytail or braid it so it looks decent and is out of the face, but I don't bother with make-up. I work with college students, so I want to make sure I look presentable. If I…

Want a beer with that?

I agree...protein is great to help you feel full. Make sure you have a good breakfast too or this can affect you throughout the day.

Wow. I'm glad I stumbled on this posting. I thought I was the only one with raging hormones. Unfortunately I'm not dating anyone right now though. I agree..thank god for shower heads and toys.

If there is no label, I usually go by the FDA count as well. I do love eating them right from the freezer.

I like the freezer tip. I have one of those machines you drop the potato into, press the handle down and it pushes the potato through into fries. It cost about $10. I make mine without the oil. I use the stone pans from Pampered Chef so I can do without the oil. I throw the raw potatoes on the pan sprinkle either salt and…

I wish they had no Calories. My daughter sells them and I'm cookie mom...so I get the 200 extra booth boxes in my house until they are gone. Way tooooo easy to grab a box and throw the 3.50 in the pot.

The following link will tell you how to determine what your daily calorie needs are to maintain: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-determine-your-calorie-needs.html Subtract 500 calories a day to lose 1 pound, 750 for 1 1/2 lbs, and 1000 calories for 2 lbs per week.

If you really need a boost quickly, you could try 5-hour Energy. 1/2 the bottle usually gets a quick pick up. There's a total of 4 calories. The entire bottle is like 2 cups of coffee without the calories. I only use it when I am desperate. It doesn't seem to have the same effect on my system other stimulants would have.…

Thanks for posting. I'll have to check out some of these books.

I was doing that for 3 weeks. I had to up my caloric intake before I could start losing again. I wasn't eating enough and my body didn't like it.

I have a portabella pizza I make that I love! I use a fresh portabella: 1. Wash it and take the stem out. Brush the under side with a little olive oil. 2. I top it with fresh basil, crushed garlic, pizza sauce (or freshly crushed tomatoes), and either crumbled goat cheese or feta. 3. Bake it or grill it until the cheese is…

I have an elliptical at home. It always is less than MFP. The Elliptical at the gym is about 1/2 of what the machine is in my house for the same time spent. I think the only way to truly judge is the heart rate monitor. I still need to get one.

You should probably look at it as doing both simultaneously. Cardio is great for burning the weight, but strength training and toning are also excellent for burning the calories. Cardio will get your heart rate up and burn calories faster, but strength training will increase your muscle needs so they will burn calories…

I like making it and then mixing it with some fresh red or yellow peppers, red onion, cucumber and cilantro. I also out a little bit of lemon juice or vinegar in it for an acid in it if tastes too bland.

You're welcome...that's why I posted it. I kept forgetting too.

I have a friend that will go to the store and pick up a variety of vegetables...often root vegetables that are in season and on sale. He goes home and cooks them, throws them into a big pot and seasons them with spices and often some red pepper. He blends them all up to a smooth texture and serves it with a dollup of sour…

Have your husband help plan meals and exercise for the week. Maybe there is something you can do together that would help motivate you. Daily walk before dinner? Find a workout buddy. You won't want to let them down by not showing up. Register for a course. Just think...you are not going to want to skip something that you…

I have hypothyroidism as well. It makes it difficult to lose weight at times. I've found for breakfast I make myself a protein drink every morning, That way I don't have to eat if I don't want to, but my metabolism kicks in. I use a scoop of Body fortress protein powder as it has a high protein level and blend it with my…
