I work in a hospital giving flu shots to staff and patients. If you're at risk, old young, immunocompromised, work around those who are, etc., get it. Yes, even to patients getting chemo... especially chemo patients, but only the shot, which is a dead virus. If you don't have those risk factors, then it's your call. I…

Shin spints tend to be worse going down hill than up hill. Hills are fun to run down, but because your foot is falling harder and farther than it does uphill or level, the impact is greater and can cause issues. Try to take it slow down the hills and try not to go straight down if it can be avoided.

Great work!

Hahaha... try having your coffee earlier

Gurrrrl, you are hottt! And I love how you titled the thread... so true!

A new PF opened in my neighborhood, and for whatever reason, there are 6 or 7 different people wearing those plastic sweat suits at any given time. And we're not talking about elite athletes trying to make weight either. :noway:

That's great that you didn't let it stop you and now you're achieving things you never thought you would! What an amazing feeling and thank you for sharing!
-
Fantastic! The fact that you didn't realize it and were successful anyway proves that you really are integrating a healthier lifestyle. Way to go!

A couple years ago I got this parasite from the hospital I worked at. I couldn't keep in a single bite of food or sip of water for over two weeks, severely dehydrated, my blood pressure was dangerously close to bottoming out and I could barely walk. I lost 15 lbs in those two weeks and was on the verge of death. Effective,…

You look awesome! Great determination! Just keep chipping away at it, you're more than half way there!
-
Congratulations! You're absolutely stunning!

Live music is pretty much better than everything else in life... but I say Andrew W.K. every single time. Dancing on stage, after party with his band, pretty hard to beat. Party Hard!

You look just amazing! Can't wait to see that Halloween costume! Congrats!

You can do it, something, anything! I broke my tailbone snowboarding and it hurt to run, so I did the elliptical at a lower intensity. I fractured my knee skiing (maybe I should avoid snow sports?) two weeks before a half marathon and was told I wasn't allowed to run on it, so I walked the race. All 13.1 miles, with a…

Haha, that's amazing! That has to be the absolute best feeling.
-
Best of luck to you! I'm sure you'll do great. Plus as a little bonus, I always notice that my half marathon times are always a good bit faster during the race itself with the adrenaline than anything I could force out in training.

It has to do with percentages. You burn a greater percentage of fat vs. carbohydrates at a lower intensity, but you burn more calories overall, including more fat, at a higher intensity. If you can swing it, you're definitely better off going hard.
-
Girl, you are just stunning! Congratulations on all your success!
-
Yeah this is happening... and soon!
-
Congratulations! You've done it and you look amazing!

Absolutely affects the way I eat, and it's something I still struggle with to this day. My family came over from Cuba after it became communist, leaving a lot of extended family behind. When I was little, I would say I'm full, and my parents would always make me clean up my plate, telling me I had cousins in Cuba that…

Haha, oh man. And I felt guilty about just slipping off my shoes under my desk, and there's only 1 other person in my office... down the hall. Yeah, that is not okay, especially not to the bathroom.

I'm a night owl, but even I had to admit after 6 years working 7p-7a that it takes a toll on you and makes it just a little bit harder, but certainly not impossible, especially if you're trying to maintain a normal schedule on your days off. But that's okay, we all have our strengths and weaknesses in this journey. Just…

It's great to be a Florida Gator! 2 football national championships and 2 basketball national championships during my tenure there. Not a bad run, boys. Cannot wait for the fall to get here sooo soon!

I can vouch for this. An aquaintance's brother is a fitness model and he put on weight to say in earnest that he lost it in no time. The commercial was televised nationally.
-
Whoa, you look amazing! Congrats!
-
Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! I'm definitely going to look into the moleskins, but don't worry mlb929, I'm still going for a run tonight regardless!
-
Sounds like a winner! Headed out now! :drinker:

Hahaha, so true! Thanks for the tips guys. I have wide feet and a couple toes that I've broken that healed crooked, so that's partly why I have a hard time finding cuter shoes that fit properly. Most of them are fine for a bit, but living in NYC, the miles can quickly and unexpectedly add up. I throw away the ones that…

It's not running that causes blisters though, my running shoes and socks are about the only thing that don't give me blisters. It's just about any other half way cute pair of shoes or sandals that causes them. I try to avoid them, but I'm not wearing sneakers to a nice dinner. And they pop up in different places depending…
