Bueller?

It depends on your goals. Ideally, you'd want to do them together like in a circuit to maximize your burn. But if you have a routine for each and are going to do the same thing, one before the other, cardio first burns more calories, but weights first is less likely to get you injured because you're not fatigued lifting…

I've noticed for me at social events that "just one" can quickly become more calories than I've intended. For me, I still socialize, but I opt for diet soda or seltzer and lime to keep the calories at bay and to keep my hands busy and avoid the interrogation of "why aren't you drinking?" when I'm out.

Be careful you don't go overboard though! Get a few essentials and some all-purpose cleaner, and just pick up those details as you need them. I went overboard (and spent way too much money on little things after dropping all my money on my house) and bought a lot more than I needed right away. Accumulate it over time, it…

Get active on MFP and make some friends! There's a lot of great people on here eager to cheer you along. Definitely seems to hold me accountable if I'm not keeping up my end.

Thanks for the tips!

This is the best thread EVER! You guys are awesome! Made my day.

How fun! Good luck and congratulations! Also make sure you avoid too much fiber unless you're absolutely sure you can handle it! Stay with what you're used to eating. And hydrate well now rather than all in the morning. You don't need as much water during the race as you may think. Just listen to your body.

Definitely do what your doc says! I used to work at a plastic surgery office, and there's plenty of complications that could happen. I've seen quite a few people return soon after to fix a boob job after it heals incorrectly. Not worth it.

Ooh, yummy! I gave up dessert for the month of May because I was indulging too much, but luckily it's almost June! Where's the Nutella?!

FYI apparently greens in a pillow case in the dryer's fluff cycle works great to dry lettuce. So I've heard.

Punched a belligerent guy during my bachelorette party (while wearing all the ridiculous accessories) and watched him get carted off to jail as I rode off in my limo. But officer, I felt threatened!

Chick-fil-a waffle fries, I presume? There aren't any around me, but now you have me craving chicken nuggets.

Hey, I'm also 29, married, no kids. I have it all open for my friends... the good, the bad, and the shockingly ugly. Feel free to add me, I could definitely use more friends.

Exactly this. I've done four half marathons now, and my goal with each one is to just do a little better than the last one (except for the last one I did with a fractured knee). Just go for it and have a good time of it!
-
Thanks for mentioning that! I know it's tempting for me to restrict too much while working out more than usual, and just feeling exahusted from it, leading to burn out. Thanks for showing us all that you can get those results even with more calories!

Great work, and good job sticking with it even if the scale went up! Clearly things were still changing for the better. I'm actually going to start trying StrongLifts tonight. My gym only has smith machines, so hopefully it still works!
-
Definitely go with your gut! I hired a trainer with a phenomenal portfolio before my wedding who referred me to a nutritionist to help me get my food straightened out. The nutritionist sold me on these Usana meal replacements and was pushing hard for her other supplements. I kept telling her I wanted more sustainable that…

I'm interested, but my gym only has Smith machines (where the bar is on the tracks), which I'm guessing negates a good bit of that core work to stabilize it. Has anyone else had luck with or know if it would still be a worthwhile program? I'm going to try it out tonight to see how it feels.

There's a big farmers' market outside of Orlando (in Winter Park) that I was appalled to realize not only didn't sell organic, but also wasn't local (except for one or two "specialty" booths with limited selection). They try to pass themselves off like small farmers, but the organic produce selection was far smaller than…

You can absolutely do this! And not only can you make it, but if you work, you could make a pretty respectable time. And if not, remember walking breaks aren't cheating. I've done 4 half marathons, and I still find it nearly impossible to drink out of those cups they have while running - it's an ugly, choking, spilling…

How about cream soda? It has a vanilla flavor. Though I can't imagine cola or root beer being too bad.

I love this! This should be my life's slogan. I've been so close so many times and then just get frustrated and give up. Not getting results fast enough is better than gaining or going back to where you started. Just keep at it!

I got some stuff called DermaDoctor KP Duty from Ulta that was supposed to help. It's a body scrub and a separate moisturizer. I used them for about 4 months before my wedding, and it lightened it some so it didn't show up in photos, but it was definitely still there. I asked my dermatologist about it, and she prescribed a…

Oh, but do put something rubber underneath so the metal doesn't make direct contact with the concrete. You'll never be able to clean that! We actually gave the weight bench to my brother 3 years ago, and he says it's still going strong (and still outside in Florida)!
-
My husband used to keep a weight bench outside on the covered patio in South Florida. He got it used, so it was rusty when he got it and just as rusty when we moved years later. But it worked and he used it. It would accumulate the usual layer of grime after it rained that lawn furniture would, but nothing you can't wipe…

Hi Carmen, I'm Alex. For me, it's sweets. So much that I decided to give up sweets for the month of May. Just cold turkey because apparently I struggle with moderation. Almost 1/3 of the way through and I haven't killed anyone yet, so that's gotta be good, right?

Also, I worked 12 hour rotating night shifts for years, so some "days" for me were 24 hours awake, while other "days," I was only awake for 4-6 hours. It's the net result, not the individual days. I focus more on the calorie total for the week to see how I'm averaging.

I agree with you. I know for me, I've found that I have certain domino foods and combinations where I feel I can't get enough even though I'm full. Just by making better choices, I naturally take in fewer calories and I don't set off the mechanism that makes me want more and more. On those days that I fall under 1200…
