I like to make "fried rice" with cauliflower rice. Sauté diced onion, minced garlic and finely chopped fresh ginger in a tablespoon or two of coconut or sesame oil. Dump in the "rice" and a teaspoon of low sodium soy sauce or liquid aminos. Toss and cook for a minute or so. Add whatever else you want - scrambled egg, green…

Oatmeal with chia seeds, PB2, and a tablespoon of dark chocolate chips. Yum.

Sautéed Garlic Eggplant Peel and dice 1 large eggplant. Melt 2 tbsp. butter in a saucepan, add 3 tbsp. minced garlic, and sauté until just beginning to turn golden. Add eggplant and continue to cook on medium heat until the eggplant softens. Season with 1 tbsp. garam masala or curry paste/powder. I like to add 1/4 c.…

It's amazing sautéed with onions and apples. In duck fat, if you're French, but butter or coconut oil works too. I'm also a fan of the boiled dinner - cut the cabbage into thick slabs, peel a couple of carrots or potatoes, put in a pressure cooker with some corned beef and water or low-sodium stock - boom. Cold-weather…

Most yogurt only has one or two strains of probiotic. Kefir has more than ten. This stuff will seriously revamp your digestive system! It's good for immune health, too.

Like anything else, processed commercial kefir isn't as good for you as the stuff you make yourself. I have a countertop lab going - you can buy fresh kefir grains once for less than $10 and then keep manufacturing your own kefir indefinitely by pouring milk over them, allowing it to ferment at room temperature for 24-48…

I've had good luck swapping out salt or soy sauce in recipes for a dash of either Bragg's Liquid Aminos or pure tamari. For some reason those tastes trick my palate into thinking I've seasoned the dish far more heavily than I really have.

I have all the ingredients for this (apart from the curry leaves), and it sounds wonderful. That's tomorrow night sorted!

I read in a Chinese cookbook once that part of the secret to a good stir fry is cutting all the food into uniform size and shape. This actually works for these noodles really well; if you use a mandoline or a salad shooter or whatever (I have one of those rotary vegetable slicers that makes veggie noodles, but I'm a food…

Bump! Just ordered PB2 from Amazon.

Casting another vote for the rinse and dry-fry technique. These make a convincing substitute for rice noodles if you take a little time with them - I like them with shredded cabbage, carrots and onions, sautéed and mixed through with homemade Thai peanut sauce (egg and shrimp optional but yummy). I have never tried to make…

Yes - the original device. It's bigger than the Fitbit, I guess, but still pretty small. I mean, I'm barely a C cup. ;)

I have the Striiv, which I wear inside my bra -- I tuck it into a little cloth jewelry bag to protect it from moisture, and it's small and flat enough that it's completely unnoticeable. If that doesn't appeal and you don't feel like carrying it in your pocket, it also comes with an attachment that will allow you to hook it…

I have the Striiv device, as well as the app -- I find it interesting to compare results at the end of the day. I find that the actual device usually gives me more credit than the phone does, actually; it counts stairs and running steps, which the app doesn't, and adjusts the calorie burn accordingly. Love the concept of…
