Never heard of "hot yoga" but I heard of 'power yoga." Didn't know you can burn that many calories. If it helps burn the fat off your butt I would be interested in trying since I can't run anymore due to arthritis in knees.

Also potassium helps cramps too. Afterward eat 1/2 banana, drink organic cherry juice.....I even heard pickle juice out of a jar - but never tried that before.

Ice is best after a workout. (I know that is hard to do in the winter.) But before you ice, I recommend stretching like yoga. Stretching the entire leg in fact. Your calves muscles are connected to your knee which is connected to your thigh and hip. Its complex, but it's important to stretch the entire leg muscle. Also the…

Might consider some strength toning. Gentle stuff and easy yoga - based on what you are able to do. This will help muscle tone and some extra calories to be burned. Be careful! I think some kind of toning and movement would help your body circulate and heal faster. You might check with your doctor as well on what types of…

Organic fruits and veggies are expensive. This time in winter its hard to get stuff like that. Try frozen veggie section and stir fry them in Extra Virgin olive oil. Buy some frozen fruit and heat it in the microwave and sprinkle brown sugar or splenda. Nice warm, low fat, cozy winter treat. Winter blahhs are getting me…

I switch quite often. But my favorite 45 min. would be Billy Blank's "This Is Tae Bo."

I sometimes just go with my cravings if I really feel pain for foregoing a chocolate chip cookie (my favorite.) I am pretty good at other times so I justify one or two. But once the painful cravings are gone, I totally turn up my nose again that type of food. Got to save myself for those times. Also eating cucumbers,…

It looks as if you lost some. Keep up the good work if you know how you lost what you lost so far. I was at my highest weight 153 a year ago today. Then my appendix burst. I never felt so old in my life! I started a Couch to 5k program last March but only stayed at 150 lbs. Then someone told me about "My Fitness Pal" in my…

Welcome to MFP! I recently reached my goal of losing 15 pounds. Might loose 3 more but I am basically maintaining, focusing on toning and strength training. Your welcome to add me as a friend if you like. :flowerforyou:

I think I am going to try that tomorrow. I happen to have all those ingredients... thanks for sharing!

Sometimes muscle weighs more than fat. I would try eliminating all junk food and eat only healthy food. Sometimes people go too low on calories and they don't have enough metabolism to burn the fat they have. If you are one of those people, you might need to up your calories but also up your exercise a bit. Focusing on the…

Thanks for sharing! Sound delicious! I bet we could use frozen organic mixed berries. I have yet to find coconut oil at the grocery store. Also I am having troubles finding "light" coconut milk.

I have the same problem. But I keep doing it. I started taking Align which is a probotic that helps with digestion. I guess there is always the chewable gummy vitamins my son takes. But may not get all of the iron, etc. a woman needs. I read in Consumer Reports that if you have a well balance diet, you may not really need…

Under "exercise" of your my fitness pal you can look up different terms such as "strength," "stretching" "aerobic (breaks into high impact, low impact, and general.) Just get creative. The have one for "standing" and "cleaning." You might find something in there and compare your work out. It may not be exact, but that is…

I thought about doing the Crystal Light thing too -even tried it last summer. There was a previous topic on my fitness pal about how diet soft drinks are bad. Crystal Light has that same artificial sweetener. So I guess it's just as guilty as a Caffeine free Coke or Zero Diet Rite (Splenda.)

LOL! You sound like me! I don't know if I can quit cold turkey - or want to. I do have a problem but I think if I just have one or two a day, I am doing okay. It really helps me starve off cravings. For some people, it tricks their brains to want more sweets like chocolate. But I think it is a psychological pacifier. I…

I think the double chin will eventually go away closer to your ultimate weight goal. I seen it happen to people before.

I can totally relate to trying on clothes at a store and having same size, same brand, but fit so weird and different. I don't know how people order from a catelog without trying it on first. As far as my husband's opinion is concern, I could care less. This is not about him anymore, but me. He actually likes how I look…

My husband tried the Abs Diet for men and it worked for him. Then he quit because he found out he has certain food allergies that make it hard to follow it, ie. milk, eggs. But he does believe the lean protein and low carbs work for him. There is a Women's Abs Diet from Woman's Health magazine, I believe. I don't care for…

There should be no such thing as "diet food." Because once you stop your "diet food" you just gain it back. Just think healthy and stick with basics: brown rice, whole grains, lean meat, fruits and vegetables, fat free milk for you, 2% for your boys..... Keep junk food away from everyone if possible. Only allow cake at…

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." But I like to say real "beauty is skin deep."

I would keep up the yoga because it is very healthy, healing and prevents injury. But might try other exercises to spice up your metabolism I saw a segment on TV of a 90 year old lady teaching yoga. She use to be a professional dancer. Just goes to show, you take care of your body and your body take care of you.

I gave up these when I found out how many calories and fat they are. McDonald's doesn't advertise skinny vanilla latte. They just advertise sugar free vanilla syrup. I ask for this along with "skim milk" rather than the regular milk they put in. So the employee is careful not to mess up my order. I think its only like 40…

If you are looking for more natural ways of recovery, I recently read the following: Chocolate milk to restore muscle Tart cherry juice after work out. (Although expensive, I like 100% cherry juice and organic.) Pickle juice for muscle cramps Of course: Water, water, and oh yeah, more water.

Thanks! I also heard that if you had a ligament tear, its better to get surgery soon or can cause degeneration on down the road if ignored. My doctor didn't believe I had any tears back in October. Maybe he might think differently now. I also considered getting a second opinion from another orthopedic doctor.

Thanks for sharing! I also have tenderness when kneeling at times. Its scary to make a decision about surgery when you really don't know if your going to benefit. I guess it is one day at a time. Good luck with your recovery!

Please don't be hard on yourself! You have accomplished so much so soon! Don't be like me and injury yourself for doing to much. (P.S. I just posted my topic on "Running with bone spurs") From March to July I did not loose any weight from running until someone told me about this web site, MFP. Then I lost 5 lbs the month…

I know people who successfully loss weight with the HCG diet. The problem is - only a temporary fix. Unless they devoted the rest of their lives to healthy eating and exercising - they gain some weight again. The HCG also made them look unhealthy. We eat for a reason - to live. Not in excess, but not to deprive either.…

I was interested in toning shoes also. Before I went out to buy some I did a "search" on MFP message board and read about it. Most people said they don't work. Some people like how they feel after exercising, just walking around. One person said there relative is a med student and all the professors at this med school say…
