Well, I'm a little irritated. I'm not actually cocky. :) I've actually done other tests in the past, but only quoted the most recent ones. My original goal was actually lower, but my personal trainer looked at it with me and decided it would be too low. And for the record, I have a sister who is built similar to me and her…

Wow. I didn't expect so many people to be so convinced that bmi is really accurate. I'm actually 5'6" and very muscular. As I said, I've been watching lbm through a 50 lb weight loss. I work out 6 days a week and am extremely healthy according to my doctor. I am a size 12 at 190 pounds and expect to be about a size 8 at my…

That's incredible. You look totally amazing! Your daughter is really lucky and such a cutie. Nothing better than this gift you're giving her. You really look fantastic!

If someone partners with you and makes you feel uncomfortable (mine was a guy doing takedowns who was terrible and I was still learning to fall correctly) then you should be able to tell the instructor and they should automatically make changes. If they're really good like my bjj trainer it's never an issue cuz they won't…

I started kickboxing and self defense at 28 or 29 which was a big change from the yoga I've done since I was 16. I loved it cuz it helped me focus my mind and energy. I did it for many years and also tried Krav Maga, wing chun, mixed martial arts, and maybe a year of American jiu-jitsu. I liked everything but loved…

I'm training for my first brazilian jiu-jitsu competition in December.

I agree with eating between bmr and tdee. I only hit plateaus when I'm eating too little. I aim for a net calorie intake of 1300-1700 calories and that is working better for me. I work out 2-4 hours a day, on a typical day I burn 1900 calories from exercise. So if I want to net 1300 I eat 1900+1300=3200. Sounds insane…

I do jiu-jitsu, but my gym also has sparring. Men and women always fight each other. I think it has a great advantage since there are not as many women as men in most classes. I am the only female in jiu-jitsu evening classes and get to roll with a dozen guys. It's awesome because even if the guy is way smaller than me, he…

The entire class has to lie on the floor (which is completely wet with sweat like a slip n slide) after the workout for at least 10 minutes because the incredible endorphins make it impossible to walk straight and our arms are so tired that we can't physically drive home. When I actually am able to drive home, I drive with…

I'm training for my first Jiu-Jitsu martial arts competition in December. Learning a lot. Having a specific goal makes it way more fun. We should be friends!

I've given up lots of things that I thought I never could do without, but I don't even care because I want to hit my goal weight so much. However, I do need my turtle cake from Cafe Latte every once in awhile. Chocolate cake with fudge frosting, caramel, and pecans. I will go weeks without sugar and then have a piece of…

We've all been at the bottom and that's why we're here. I am also tall and carry my weight well, which helped me avoid it all these years. I also just accepted myself for who I am, but inside I wanted more. Now that I am well on my way, I'm so glad I started. We can do this together!

Great job! I have my first 5k mud run today and I'm getting nervous. Good for you for barreling ahead!

I'm probably 90/10 also. I eat an organic, whole foods diet and cook almost everything from scratch. I feel great eating like this. It's not just about hitting my calorie goals. It's how I feel at the end of the day about what I put in my body.

I could really use the motivation. Feeling kind of overwhelmed today. SW: 240 CW: 220 GW: 190 but will change...

Thank you so much everyone. I'm in tears again, but because I am so grateful to have found this site. I've worked so hard and I'm going to do exactly what Pspetal said she did when she got stuck and said, "I kept going because I didn't know what else to do." That's exactly where I'm at. All I know is that I love my…

I've been following you and I think you're doing great. I struggle with binge eating too and I know that feeling overwhelmed by goals can be a trigger for just giving up and bingeing. Don't let the goal be a source of stress. You are learning more every day and you are growing to understand yourself better. That's what…
