  • I am totally addicted to diet red bull! Gives me energy, good mood, kills my appetite for an hour, and allows me to exercise better. I drink a small can every day on the way to the gym, and on sundays, midmorning. But dont drink it in the evening, may interfere with sleep.
  • I just spread a quarter of an avocado on half a slice of Trader Joe's European style bread. may add some salt. It's delicious!
  • Over the last 16 years I had 5-6 periods of rapid weight loss, achieving my desired weight. I did it by limiting my calorie intake severely and adding exercise. In one case, I went on a medically supervised 5 day water fast. But each time I ended up gaining it all back, and then some. So now I am trying to do a slow weight…
  • You look absolutely wonderful! Congratulations!
  • I love raw fish salad with coconut milk, Polynesian style! At first I was afraid to try, but now I want it all the time.
  • Good for you!
  • eggs are wonder food. Yes, there is fat in yolk, but this fat is very important, because they contain fat soluble vitamins, like vitamin A and E. One whole egg is about 70 cal, less than a piece of bread, 2-3 times less calories than any of your "health bars".

  • Malaysia, how wonderful! I have never been there but would like to go some day. I read that what they have there is a combination of chinese, indian and thai quisines. I would love to try some of those curries. They say that the local chinese borrowed the curries from the indians and they make it less spicy and maybe less…
  • You look superb! And i love both of your dresses!
  • Eggs are wonderful! If you try to log "scrampbed eggs" you get 365 cal in 1 cup on MFP. This does not have to be so! They are probably counting them with lots of butter and with cheese or bacon or something. In reality, you scramble two eggs with a third of a tablespoon of butter, and you get 174 cal only. Enjoy!!!

  • Try rope skipping. We all did that as children, didnt we? When i tried it again in my fifties, it was difficult at first, but now it is my go-to activity to burn 50 cal in 5 min (would be much more cal for you if your weight is 300 lb)
  • You look great! Thanks for inspiration. ( i am also 55)
  • In summer, i would do a detox by eating only watermelon. I do it for one to three days, and i lose a pound or two and feel energized! It happens that watermelon is one of my favorite fruits! But i somehow enjoy it more when i eat it separately from other foods. And it is so enjoyable only in hot weather.

  • My new thing with quinoa is that i use the leftover cold quinoa on my salad , regular california salad, baby greens, tomatos, maybe avocado... It is especially good when i add some fresh mint to it, gives you some sort of middle easter flavor. Normally, we cook it like rice and eat it like you would eat rice.
  • I like to eat a breakfast. If it is small, under 3oo cal, I am fine. If I eat more, everything gets skewed. I dont like to eat snacks between meals, I feel much better if I do without them. So even if there is a lot of advice along the lines of "eat more often, eat small healthy snacks between meal", I feel I am better off…
  • about ten years ago I lost 15 pounds by eating the same small breakfast (coffee, apple toaster strudel) under 300 cal, then lunch around 300 cal (cottage cheese and 2 pieces of fruit). No dinner. Plus. i signed up for the gym and did whatever I could for a couple of hours every day.(I was very inexperienced and did not…
  • I love sardines. My advice: try to buy a can of the BEST sardines. Some of the best are produced in Portugal, they are canned in their high quality olive oil. To lower calorie intake, do not eat the oil, get them out of the can with a fork and put on a paper towel, and wipe with a paper towel. You can put them on any good…
  • my husband cooks it in a rice cooker, and we eat it just like rice. But it is nuttier and more satisfying than rice. So we have it with any dish which one eats rice with. Also, I ate leftovers for breakfast a couple of times, could eat it cold or heat it up. I usually do not put anything sweet on my oatmeal, so i did not…
  • Mine is here because i was a foxy redhead at one time, and may do that again when i get really thin!
  • On sudays when i dont make it to the gym, i do fast walking for 20 min, it burns 70 cal for my weight, and i do rope skipping for 5 min, it burns 45 cal for me. And i repeat it 3 times. My 20 min walk is that length only becaue it is a convenient route with beautiful views. So whatever you have at home, just calculate the…
  • I am 5'4 and a half, and my goal is 125 pounds. That was my weight most of my adult life, but after 50 I started to put on weight all the time, and started to take efforts to lose it every time I reached 150 pounds. I hope that MFP with its method of "slow weight loss" will help me to lose weight slowly and not to gain it…
  • I think after I reach my goal I will continue for a little bit to make sure I maintain my weight, and then I would like to quit, because it is time consuming. But the previous several times that I lost weight, I did it very fast, and later indeed I got it all back, at first in two years, then withing a year, and last time,…
  • My hubby nukes it in the microwave and serves it as a side vegetable to any meat or fish. I like to put a dollop of sour cream on it, may be some salt. I can eat it without any meat or fish, just by itself with some sour cream. Delish, and good for you! Having read all these ideas here, I think I will try it one day with…
  • i liked The Perfect Meal by Garden of Life in Creamy Vanilla flavor. I used to buy it at Whole foods. I packet has 180 calories. You our the contents into a small bottle of water (I used an 16 oz water bottle with only 8 oz of water in it), then you shake it well, and then, yum, yum. You don't want any lunch after that.
  • I did ww, the online version, in the past, and it was successful. But this is much better! First of all, because it is easier to count calories rather than points! Second, mfp database is much bigger. Third, i like the forums here. Plus, its free! No-brainer for me.
  • A couple of years ago i tried several individual packages for making protein shakes from whole foods. I tasted only those which were low in carbs. I did not like any of them except for one which was vanilla flavor and had a sunflower, big, on the package. That one was rather yammy.
  • I never heard of that. It contradicts my own experience. Only in one case can this be true: if from more exercise you start eating uncontrollably. But if you are lcounting your calories and do not overeat, exercise is very beneficial. Especially if you do more thanone session a day. Also congrats on doing tai chi. I know…
  • Try benefiber. Works like a charm. You buy it in a drugstore. It is like a powder, you put a spoon or two in your morning drink, or into a glass of wayer any time of day. Unlike others of its kind it dissolves in your drink completely and you do not even taste it. For water retention the best method for me is to drink a…
  • I have been on MFP for two weeks, trying to eat back a half of my exercise calories every day. In the first 4 days I lost 3 pounds. Then I went to party with a lot of food, and I could not resist eating it all. Next day there was another party. When I weighed myself a couple of days later, my 3 pounds were back! Then I was…
  • Today i had a 2 oz piece of skinless chicken breast and half a slice of Trader Joe's european style multigrain bread. It was awesome! 159 cal only, and i had it in my car driving from the gym back to work. I did not feeel hungry!!! The endorphins from my workout kicked in, i felt happy... That gave me more calories to take…
