  • My doctor is all about that BMI chart..... SCREW THAT... Even though I am now in the normal range of the BMI chart, I will tell you that it is not what you should be setting a goal with. It is a reference tool ONLY. If you are going to use any chart or guideline as a goal setting tool, then use body fat percentage. Body…
  • OK, my two cents... I used to go to Planet Fitness before I got a free membership elsewhere. I loved that place. 1.) You should certainly show the email to the staff at the gym. Because this guy already had your email address and you have dated him, they cannot do much but have it on their radar. If he tries to do or say…
  • Here's a funny for you... As a guy that has lost 75lbs, I can now say I have lost in many areas. I too have lost in my face and fingers. But that could be a bad thing if my spouse loses in the area being discussed here, because my wedding band keeps falling off and I'd hate to lose it!
  • Nothing, natural or man-made, is 100% good for you. Even natural foods have to be moderated. A varied diiet is best. Apples are healthy, but you can eat a lot of them and get too much of that type of sugar as well as the vitamins they contain. However, what of the vitamins that are not in that apple or at least a…
  • Out of your WHAT? LOL A little jealousy isn't bad if the person is strong enough to get past it and trust his/her lover. But if he is accusing you of things and not trusting the answer you give - it has already gone to a bad place. I would be up front with him that you don't know the person, did not respond to the looks,…
  • First, great thread. Second, Funny responses! The pulleys were funny, but I think LMCFO is what got me! Third, I started laughing again when I pictured so many ladies rushing home to a mirror, standing funny , using hands to move a thigh or something to the side, or balancing against something - trying to look from…
  • I like to have yogurt with Kashi GoLean Crisp mixed in! I happen to ADORE eggs, but I am also trying to lower my cholesterol while losing weight. Two eggs bust my daily intake for Cholesterol...just two. Kashi - Go Lean Crisp! - Toasted Berry Crumble, 51 g (1.8 oz/ 3/4 C) - 180 calories and 9g protein Dannon Light &…
  • Links are always a nice addition to a post. Thank you for that. Before reading any of that, I have been follwing the following philosophy when it comes to this topic: *Never eat less than 1200 calories a day. *Always strive to land on the number MFP has set for me (currently 1500), no matter how much/little I exercise.…
  • That does peak my interest!
  • I think I may modify that and make a modified taco salad like the one here: http://www.morningstarfarms.com/recipe_detail.aspx?id=2713
  • By itself, no. That said, it can help you lose weight. Green Tea has caffeine and anti-oxidants that help your metabolism and heart health. It helps boost your metabolism, which means that the other foods you eat can be processed a little more efficiently. Other threads on this site have praised green tea, and there is no…
  • I will have to find more uses for salsa, and yours is a good one. Another sad diet casualty is that I used to love doing up an eggs ranchero breakfast, but I had to limit my egg intake due to cholesterol concerns.
  • Nice. Been having spinach in my salads for quite a while. Have to fight the kids for the apples. Love the normandy mix (Broccoli, Califlower, Carrots) and have that often. Eating lots of chicken and pork on this diet. Sad thing is that salsa helps my metabolism, but the chips are just too damn costly calorie-wise. Sad…
  • I'm not tracking sodium, although I probably should because I go over every day. My watch list is in the area of dietary fiber and cholesterol due to my last blood test. I'm not scary high requiring medication, but the doc told me I needed to reverse those numbers and get it under control now through diet. However,…
  • No need to apologize! I rarely get to eat out, but I am seriously considering calling restaurants first and asking if they have nutritional info (or ingredient lists.) If they tell me no, then I would say that I'll be going elsewhere. See if I can kick some eateries to get with the program!
  • I like the idea of everyone here putting a (US) , (Canada), or (UK) on all new foods and ones that they make corrections to. I also think that we might want a [date] tag too, since we have established that some labels are likely to change occasionally. Let's agree on a naming convention!! Let's make sure all the info is in…
  • Thank you to the person that reminded us about the entries without an asterik. I also get frustrated at times with the incorrect entries. I get just as frustrated with multiple entries. If I type in "Quaker Instant Oatmeal Apples & Cinnamon" I would like to maybe see three entries that have a US, UK, and Canada entry that…
  • The Wii Fit Plus does have quite a bit more than the original fit did. I still go to a gym 2-3 times a week, but on the off days I do strength and aerobics on the Wii Fit Plus. Ultimately, getting off your butt and moving is going to help. The difference between the two you are looking at may be which one motivates you…
  • Simply amazing. Words can't express how great your success is. Please excuse my frankness, but did you have issues with your skin hanging like you see on "The Biggest Loser"? I've been losing a lot (not as much as you for sure), and I'm concerned that I may encounter that. I wonder how one deals with that?
  • To clarify what Skinnyby29 said.... you are changing the letters IMG at the beginning and end of the code you paste to lowercase letters. For some silly reason, MFP is case sensitive on their BBcode tags.
  • Awesome job! I think you have done what you need to do to look and feel better. Strength training is also nice, but don't feel that you "have" to. As with the weight loss, toning up is about you rather than what others think you should do. The only person (other than you) that should ever have a say in your fitness is your…
  • Wonderful accomplishment! Grats! Only thing better would have been a mention for MFP in there!
  • Vet player of Everquest up to the point where Everquest II came out, and played it ever since. Have been to Fanfaire twice, once in 2007 and again in 2009 pictured there.
  • AUGUST 2009 - 240 lbs Last month - about 40 lbs down I'm now down 49 lbs with about 30 to go.
  • I really wish that my work and class schedule would allow me to do the eat 5-6 times a day in small amounts method. Unfortunately, I cannot. Tried it... My diet is fairly varied and balanced. Dinner is usually at 6pm, and I'm never in bed before 10pm (usually later than that even.) I guess I'll just have to try switching…
  • I'm very excited for you! I will be at work when it airs but will definitely watch the web segment at lunch! Very cool that you can share your success. Also cool that MFP gets more attention. Great job!
  • You are in the right place. This is a very supportive community. If you stick with using this site, you will lose the weight. I'm losing 2 pounds a week here... a good healthy pace.
  • LOL... you didn't specify a gender in your original post... and you didn't specify a body part or area either! (Imagine the possibilities there! LOL!)
  • I am losing weight rather well on having either instant oatmeal or Multigrain Cheerios in the morning. The Quaker tastes great, but the better choice for instant is Better Oat's "Oatmeal Revolution" packets. They have flax seed and not nearly as much bad stuff. The price point is actually the same or less than the Quaker,…

  • I have been getting up early enough to have instant oatmeal or multigrain cheerios in the morning. I like the idea above where they suggest making something the night before that you can zap in the microwave in the morning.
