 Hi Steph, You will find alot of encouragement, compassion, empathy and ideas on this thread. It is different when you get older (although 55 is definately not old), but it is still possible! It is good to have a bunch of kindred spirits here and many times makes a difference between choosing the right thing over…

 My husband and I went to Denver to visit our folks. My dad is 88 and my mom is 81. They are both doing very well (except my mom climbing up on a 5' ladder to water her hanging plant:angry: ). We didn't go anywhere special and so instead of grilling burgers or steak (which I must admit I did miss) I fixed a…

Whenever I tell my husband how many pounds I've lost, he always tells me he knows where they went...he has them!!

:flowerforyou: Greetings from the sandhills of Nebraska! The corn and soy beans are growing like crazy and the hillsides are lush green. July is going to be a good month! My goal for July is to lose 8 pounds. That will put me in the single digits of 200 and close to being on the other side of 200. Yay! I can't even…

Esther, I have an Esther (she's 15)! It is always good to have fresh starts, whether it be a new day, a new week, or a new month! The important thing is to get going again. These are a great bunch of ladies and we all have something in common and understand how the whole process works. I'm looking forward to the July…

 It always amazes me how much better I do with any meal if I slow down, plan the meal out and not just grab something (especially like leftovers from the day before). There are lots of yummy meals out there without having lots of awful calories. Horseradish is sure a boost on a sandwich! Have good day!:flowerforyou:

 I log in every day and read posts daily, but I don't get the time to post very often. I still have 5 children at home and since we homeschool, we take advantage of the summer break to get a lot of projects done. We are well under way with them and have made some good strides. I do appreciate all of you ladies and I…

:flowerforyou: Vicki, Yay on getting on the other side of 200! If I lose 18 pounds by the end of June to your 20, then I'll be on the other side of 200 and you'll make your goal of 20.I think we can do it!!!

Vicki, Thanks for reminding all of us that how we view ourselves and what we eat or don't eat is really a mind set. That comes to me often and is really a help when I want to do things I shouldn't. Have a great day!!:flowerforyou:

:flowerforyou: Ladies, I don't envy those of you who work every day at a job. I did get through my week at the Post Office in good form, but I would much rather be home with my children. The girls and I had our last weigh-in for the Central Nebraska Healthy Challenge today. We had only lost a total of 6 pounds this…

 Hi ladies, long time no post. I've been working at the PO all week (Post Master Relief when the regular Post Master is gone) and I've missed reading all of your posts...Tomorrow is the last weigh-in for my daughters and I, but we are going to continue eating healthy and counting calories and exercising until we…

:flowerforyou: Hey, you are all right about just sticking with it even though a few pounds show back that had been lost. I lost 2 pounds this past week and look forward to losing a few more this week. I work at the PO this week and I always lose when I work (on my feet most of the whole day). Anyway, here's a random…

:noway: It is such a bummer when I have gained some pounds that I already lost!:( But I know I can do what I should and I can't expect to see a loss when I don't keep within my calories. I've blinked too many times this past two weeks and thought a few calories here and there wouldn't make a difference, but boy they sure…

:flowerforyou: Esther, I hope you get to feeling better. Keep drinking your water and that will help flush out the crud. Thanks for the encouragement you are to all of us!:flowerforyou:

 Yay Susan!!! You did it!!! That's great!!! Keep on keeping on!!!:flowerforyou:

 A new month, a month of looking forward to losing more pounds! We are all in this together!! Today I took the step to get rid of my 'fat' clothes. There is somewhat of a sense of security in keeping them, but that leaves me open to failure and being able to go back to them. If they're not there, I won't have…

Susan, I think all of us have had weeks and even months like this, but the fact that you are bothered about it says that you still care and you still want to eat and exercise like you should. The weight will come off it seems to me more through counting your calories than through alot of exercise. Yes, it definitely helps,…

There's nothing wrong with you! You are human just like the rest of us. When we're out of our routine, it affects us. If I'm going to be doing something out of the ordinary, like going out to eat, birthday party, etc. I consciously think ahead and plan my meal out mentally and when I get there, I am much more prepared to…

:frown: So sorry to hear about your bike accident. When I read about it earlier I thought about our plans to ride to the cemetery today on our bikes, but we did and it was very good. It's great to counteract some extra calories with some extra exercises to burn those extra calories!!

Memorial Day weekend includes a family (there are only 5 children left at home:ohwell: ) bike ride up to the cemetery. After a rest, we head back home and then barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs. We live in the country in a town of 700 and 7 of us on the road riding bikes is no problem. We actually do it every chance we get.…

Hi! You are on the right track! This is a great site to keep track of calories, exercise and each other as we lose weight and form healthy habits! Have a great day!!

It's always amazing what a boost losing a pound or two gives you. When I get in a funk, but keep on eating like I should, keeping track of my calories on MFP. doing my treadmill, taking bicycle rides in the evening, doing my scrunches at bedtime (which by the way I haven't been doing the last two weeks:frown: ) it is…

 Every morning my husband and I have 1 english muffin with 1 tbl.margarine, 1 cup of coffee w/ cool whip & sugar, and 1/2 c. of skim milk. That's 277 calories every morning...

Ladies, your responses made me cry! Thank you so much for sharing your hearts and minds with me (so quickly, too!) and giving me much to think about. This is truly an awesome group to be a part of!

 Yay! You've taken the first and most important step! You can do this and MFP is a really helpful tool to losing weight. When you start recording calories eaten each day and exercise you've done, you really see what you were doing that caused the weight gain and what you need to do to lose it. People always say, "Oh…
