Working on my divorce.

I don't know if anyone else has commented on this but... I was gaining on a est. 2lb weight loss MFP calculated rate for my height and weight. I lost initially but then gain it back and then some. I was working out and doing everything I'm supposed to but kept seeing the digits go up. I spoke to my doctor about it and she…

I can feel bad at around 80g of carbs a day. I can get pretty nauseated too on it... but my carbs are mostly fruits and vegetables so I get annoyed with MFP for making my macros look out of control when it's healthy carbs! :) I've never felt better than when on primal/paleo. I just started incorporating some cheese and…

An HRM is definitely a lower estimate of MFP calorie expenditure. I spent 100 on mine from Amazon. Guess it'll depend on your preference and what you want to do. If it'll help you stay on track, then definitely get one! There's just not a lot of "100% accurate" tracking :)
-
Check amazon. Sometimes, they have good deals. Otherwise, my next question is... who is telling you that you have to have an HRM? Cause you don't. In fact, I use mine all the time and one of the gym trainers today at the gym was telling me that they don't recommend them for much because it's not really accurate when people…

I eat paleo and can find 500 calories for a ton of food at Chipotle. I get a salad (no drsg), double meat (mix and match), salsa and guacamole. It is delish. I actually even enjoy it better than when I used to eat a bowl! :)

I probably wouldn't be comfortable... but I've never worn a bikini in my life and I'm not sure I'd have the confidence at any weight... but I've seen girls bigger than you wear bikinis and I don't think anything of it... so if you feel comfortable / confident, I'd say go for it.

So the surgery also has the physiological effect of making one feel full faster. You now have a small space to fill and, also, because of that... you have less room to put food in it. You're right - it's a way to force someone to eat less calories. The surgery has so many potential complications. You can get malabsorption…

The trick to fats is trying to get good fats. There are fats that work to raise HDL (good) cholesterol and lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. Pistachios, for example. Almonds. I've switched my peanut butter to almond butter and my milks to almond milk. Blue Diamond has this great unsweetened vanilla almond milk. 40 calories in 8…

Hard work paying off :) Looking good!

She's serious, though! Too much straining can make you vagal down... which causes a drop in heart rate and you can pass out or go into arrest!

I'm sick and barely functional. Sorry. That's my excuse! I meant 8 ounces :p

So I was hoping to find a serious reply to this... If you're having regular BMs, the average BM weights about 0.8 oz. So roughly, that's half a lb of loss. Now, most people end up peeing when they BM as well... and depending on how much fluid you're also losing, 1L of fluid is equal to 2.2lbs. So weighing after emptying…

Some studies are suggesting diets like the paleolithic diet are helping with the insulin resistance of PCOS. A lot of MDs are beginning to recommend it for their PCOS patients with a lot of success. It has a similar effect as the metformin - improving the body's ability to utilize insulin... but I'm not sure about any way…

Started over 200. I had high end nike air max 2011 and tried running with those... HORRIBLE for my knees. I switched to vibram five fingers and have no pain in my knees or in my ankles. Sometimes, I have 'em in my feet but that's because I'm using new foot muscles :) So... invest in good shoes! Makes you more likely to…

The thing I look at is my net calories once I exercise: my net -has- to be over 1300 to be of any benefit for my body. Really, though, it depends on your settings. My diary is preprogrammed to subtract 500 calories from my diet so that I should lose a lb a week even if I don't exercise. So for me, that's somewhere in the…

One of our paramedics wear them all the time. If you have the ones that are completely enclosed, I don't know how they can argue because plenty of tennis shoes are simply mesh covering on top and on sides and a needle can still go through that! I think the trick is to just try it and see if they say anything... then let me…

Next time I'm going to remember to include the comment of not all inclusive. Key word: CAN. They can lose weight with exercise alone more easily - but you are right, that will depend on diet factors. I am in no way saying that the article said that's all they have to do - and if it did say that, I wouldn't have gone any…

Thanks! I was definitely planning on a running store for assessment and I like the idea of the vibram sole for stretch. Do you have any issues with pronation? My ankles roll a lot :) I run in my Nike Airmax 2011's right now and I'll be sore after a run. I work 12 hours on my feet and they work great for that but I'm not…

"Myocarditis is often an autoimmune reaction. Streptococcal M protein and coxsackievirus B have regions (epitopes) that are immunologically similar to cardiac myosin. After the virus is gone, the immune system may attack cardiac myosin.[1]" It's often caused by some of the common viruses out there so since it's due to an…

You can safely exercise with a cold. In fact, regular exercise helps boost immune system function. I would take it lighter - and the dr was right. You'll know what exerts you more than others right now. I'm also sick and I can tolerate walking... there's no way I can tolerate my run5k right now. I'm so dizzy from the…

Hm. Thanks for sharing. I'm new to running but don't want to put myself in a situation that I'll get hurt in and am trying to decide if five fingers or running shoes is the way to go. Having trouble finding unbiased studies, though, for research. So I appreciate the comparison! Do you notice any extra pain with one or the…

I think the key word for me in the article was that men CAN lose weight with just the one - not that it's full proof. There's other studies that suggest that people unconsciously increase their intake when they start exercising if not monitoring it and so that will always be a factor. Congrats on the 10lbs a month! I know…

I read an article recently that said men can lose weight with exercise alone (partly related to testosterone and more muscle mass) and that women require diet and exercise (usually) to lose weight and will lose it at a much slower rate :/

Muscle work is great. I've been reading a lot of recommendations that if you have a lot of fat to lose to focus more on HIIT / Cardio at first with combination of muscle work. You can even do weight lifting as a cardio workout with limited intervals between sets. Less rest periods and use combination muscle workout. As you…

They say that it does take 30 to 45 minutes to burn through glucose stores to get to fat. One way to counter your issue / concern, would be to workout prior to eating. Or eat something very small / light so you don't drop a blood sugar and then workout. Really, though, the fact that you're doing activity is beneficial…

PCP is primary care provider. Sorry! :) I'm encouraged by your weight loss on night shift. I know that can't be easy but I imagine it helps now that they're supportive. I keep trying to find walk buddies that we can take lunch together and go walking... but I work ER and lately, it's been so busy that trying to time your…

I have a hard time sleeping during the day and find that if I wake up and can't sleep, I'll try to walk the neighborhood or soon here, I'm going to get a wii fit and do that. That's the only time I workout before work. I otherwise work at the hospital gym for half an hour to 45 minutes post-work. The issues I run into,…

I finished week two of Run 5k app. It sounds like it works like the rest of them: has a voice that says, "warm up," "run now," "walk now." and balances running and walking. I am the worst at running and feel like this has helped me doing it 3x a week. I'm not good at taking rests in between days, though, depending on my…
