I don't really know but with small predators I think the thing to do would be to stop running, as doing so would trigger their chase instinct. I imagine they're very unlikely to attack unless cornered or desperate. The only really scary things I've encountered were the huge mastiff guard dogs you get in parts of South…

Do look up the full reviews on this product on Amazon - of course they're made up but absolutely hilarious

Maybe it's just water weight. Cut off his supersize supersalty crisp supply, and don't lend him the car to pick up drivethro McD anymore.

Mine comes out for walks. He's overweight but it's just heavy bones.

Sun dried tomatoes .. don't ask... makes me gag to think

Eggy fried bread with bacon - you might not have a calorie allowance for the rest of the day though ;)

Rearing pigs here, no forecast shortages of pork products

Thought about it but haven't done it - in my professional life forensic mental health was my specialism. What did you have in mind as your thesis?

A well appointed campervan, so I can travel independently whenever and wherever I wish

Mix with a bit of chilli and lime/lemon another time - it's fatty, although in a good way, and takes on other flavours well, but maybe a little bland on its own. To reduce the calorie count. it's good blended with reduced fat cream cheese or creme fraiche to make a spead or dip.

In a salad, with ripe tomatoes and (fat trimmed) crisy bacon - these days added to with lean chicken breast and something like lentils, brown rice as a base and maybe green leaves such as spinach. Dress with lemon juice (stops the avocado discolouring), seasoning and a little olive oil. Yum! You can get protein, fat, and…

I expect others have said it - I haven't read the whole thread. Great that you've identified an emotional eating trigger, and that you're looking for ways to cope with it! One idea is to save some calories for a snack, knowing that you're going to want it - I often allow for some evening chocolate, for this reason. Or in…

Try being more consistent. Work out a reasonable deficit from your TDEE for weightloss, and pick a balanced plan for carbs/protein/fat (I'm not going to get into the various arguments arising from this, you have to make your own call as it's your body and health. Personally I go higher than Mfp recommends on protein, try…

Because I keep my friends list manageable. The point is to support one another. I read people's dairies, make motivational comments, and try to help with problems. I expect the same in return. Otherwise you might just as well chat on the message boards, surely? I know I can only keep up with about 40 people on here; if…

You'll just have to cut down on processed foods (the turkey sausage and bacon). Subsitute with fresh meat or fish. Use real eggs. And get in the habit of reading labels. Salt is inevitable in bread and cheese, but does vary from type to type. For other foodstuffs just look for low- or no-salt versions.

Unrolled leeks (slit a leek along its length and separate), blanched to tenderise, can be used in place of pasta sheets

I used to use the ellipital trainer (I think! Called cross trainers over here but I think it's the same thing). I had time and distance targets. There was no way I would ever have stayed on the machine if I hadn't been reading a book, I really struggle with boredom on cardio machines. I might not have been working out to…

Thanks all! I googled it as well, and am now reassured! Cauliflower curry, me thinks :)

I'd take everyone's advice about increasing your calories to a realistic level you can stick to. Making a weekly plan for your fodd and doing your shopping accordingly might well make it easier. Get lots of filling healthy stuff in, enough protein and lots of veg; but also allow yourself to have some of favourites. Just…

Absolutely love them! Roasted seaweed crispy snacks, miso soup with seaweed, and my ultimate fave; crispy seaweed tempura (OMG, delish). Sadly since joining MFP and being poorer, I have been trying to reduce both my sodium and my expenditure, so I mostly just have a cup of miso here and there. But this post has made me…

I sometimes combine lime juice, chilli, soy sauce and fish sauce (a tablespoonish of each of the liquids, mabe rather less of the soy, and chilli to taste). Then I heat a little bit of sesame oil in a pan and sear the salmon on both sides. When it's gots a good colour, pour over the sauce which will quickly bubble down to…

Well, after an intense bonk in the middle of your workout, I'd be most impressed of you had enough stamina to carry on with your gym session. I really must stop laughing...

AH HA - I see it's one of those translation issues... not meaning the same in the UK as it does in the US. I was curious about managing a bonk and a workout, especially with the bonk in the middle

Lovely lightly steamed and tossed with black bean sauce :)

Oh and how about making soup? Yes I realise that portion size is an issue, but you dont have to have whole portions in one sitting - 10 half portions is the same as 5 full ones, and probably better for as there's more variety. If you'd like to have a nose through my diary send me friend request, I'm not vegetarian but you…

While you sound like you're fine now, there are health benefits to getting your 5 a day, so it would a good thing to crack. I totally agree with you about fruit and especially fruit juice - however one of the changes I've made since joining MFP is to have some fruit in my diet, aiming for one serving (an apple or…

2nd dress. Wish I looked good enough to wear any of them as well as you do!

Terrible grief and pain, associated depression and (weight gain) meds... Using alcohol as a blotter-out, and only remembering to eat enough to order Chinese takeaway every few days. It was hard enough to stay alive or to care about myself in even the most basic ways - I still struggle, but logging in to this website…
