  • I don't have much advice, but I feel you. I'm battling genetics, PCOS, and depression, all of which make it so hard to lose weight. I just woke up one day and decided enough is enough and I want my life back. I'm determined not to get bitter about it. Yeah, my medications make it easy to gain weight but at the end of the…
  • I always thought my left calf was bigger than the right because it's the clutch leg! :D I don't worry about it though. It is what it is.
  • I haven't heard of that.. I will definitely look into it! I'd love to be off the pill. If HRT would help, I'm all for it!
  • For me, it didn't. I stopped gaining weight when I went back on it, but I'm finding it incredibly hard to lose what I had already gained from stopping in the first place. I really find it sad that every doctor I've spoken with denies any connection between being on the pill so long and suddenly developing PCOS after…
  • I thought I'd post a little follow up since I've received several messages about this since I've posted. My only "solution" was to go back on the pill. I'm trying to wean myself off slowly by taking a month or two off every few months. Every time I stop taking it, I start losing all my hair, breaking out, and growing…
  • yeah.. not trying to go without. Just looking for an alternative for getting them down, as raw as possible. I feel it's not even worth my time when I go all Paula Dean on my vegetables then proceed to cook the crap out of them. It's easy for a vegetarian to say to suck it up and eat your vegetables.. haha the high…
  • It depends. Some vegetables I don't mind, if they're basically cooked until they're no good for you. Some, I don't like the texture of (like tomatoes, they're squishy and weird), and some I just don't like the taste. Like onions, my most hated food ever. If I even detect onion taste, I will spit out whatever is in my mouth…
  • We don't have a cafeteria or anything. If I wanted food, fast food are my only options and I don't budget for that. I'm a picky eater, I hate vegetables. Y'all have fun with your salads, I hate that stuff. Anyone else hate them so much, they're considering or do just drink them?
  • I never said they were the same. I'm not low calorie, I hover between 1800-2200, depending on my activity for the day. I'm more concerned with filling that calorie goal with healthy foods. I don't eat anywhere near enough vegetables, I hate them. Which is why I was considering drinking them instead..
  • Hurting today.. not sure I'll get much done if anything tonight. :(
  • For the record, I have PCOS and struggled horribly with a 1200 calorie diet. I lost a little weight initially, but then I started feeling really tired, sluggish, and started losing my drive to go to the gym as I had a constant headache. And I love going to the gym. I do much better on a 1700-1900 calorie limit. The biggest…
  • I DO WHAT I WANT.
  • Machines overestimate but it also varies.. for example the elliptical at my work GROSSLY overestimates if I'm using a high resistance. Says I burn 1,000+ calories but according to my HRM it's closer to 300. The one at my gym is slightly lower but still overestimates.
  • Bump! I have the same issue. I swear my legs are more than half of my body weight, they build muscle like crazy. I have man calves and can't wear 90% of knee-high boots :(
  • All the people saying their dogs snap leashes and collars.. have you tried using a gentle leader? My Shiloh shepherd (the biggest dog I have, oddly) has always been wonderful on a leash but can't run with me due to a heart defect. My other 2 dogs, however, were AWFUL on a leash. My pit/chow mix is I swear strong as a bull,…
  • I'm so in on this! I've for some reason always just assumed I could never be a runner.. my body isn't built for it.. I'm too short and heavy.. blah blah blah. No more excuses for me. I CAN be a runner, I just have to start somewhere.
  • I picked up some Amethyst jeans from Deb today, on recommendation from a former coworker who is also losing weight to be healthier. Sooooo glad I tried them! They fit my waist, butt, thighs, and calves! I bought a pair on skinnys that won't have to be altered at all (YES!) and a pair of bootcut that make my butt look…
  • Wow! Thanks for all the replies! It's not just length, as my proportions are odd. I have a more hourglass shape than anything else. While I was trying on jeans, I ran into the issue of the ones that fit my thighs and butt, left a weird open space on the waist at the small of my back. Ugh!
  • Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check tomorrow!
  • I didn't think asking about jeans for short thick people was politically correct either. My bad. Try shopping for women's jeans and maybe you'd understand. They can't be logically sized like mens jeans, that would be too easy..
  • Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle.. That quote has helped me a lot, and I think applies to this situation pretty well. On a preachy side note, it's not healthy to be jealous of your partner like that. You should be happy that he's pushing himself, and use that to push yourself that much harder. Just an…
  • haha yep! I'm just hoping I can get back on them soon.. I'm ready to lose some of this weight. I swear I gained 99% of it on my stomach, I was convinced I was pregnant because I looked 6 months along! It's so embarrassing.. Someone I hadn't seen in years actually asked me how far along I was!!
  • As a follow-up to my original post, I had a lot of testing done and found out I do indeed have PCOS... my hormones were all out of whack. My testosterone was abnormally high, and my gyno suspects I'm not ovulating most of the time. This explains so much, why I started growing hair on my neck and chin, why all my gorgeous…
