Who makes jeans for short people that aren't bean poles?

When I say short, I don't mean what jean companies consider short.. 30" inseam? I wish. My inseam is 26". I'm 5'0 with really muscular legs... I can't wear adorable knee high boots because of my ridiculous man calves. Every pair of jeans I've tried that would fit my waist don't go over my thighs. I guess that's what you get for playing catcher in softball so many years. I look awesome in yoga pants, but I'm getting tired of wearing them every day!

Oh, and I refuse to spend $200 on a pair of jeans. That's just ridiculous. Any suggestions?

    I didn't think asking about jeans for short thick people was politically correct either. My bad. Try shopping for women's jeans and maybe you'd understand. They can't be logically sized like mens jeans, that would be too easy..

    NYC has jeans in petite and short that fit me. Same with Aeropostal and The Gap. I am just shy of 5 foot and it is a darn struggle to find jeans that fit me.

    My preferred are Rock & Republic from Kohls. But, I also check the racks at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I'm short, so I have to bring everything in to get hemmed anyway. :)

    I keep two pairs of tailored jeans in my closet at all times. I found a tailor that shortens the legs while keeping the original seam, you would never be able to tell they here hemmed.

    I have the opposite problem: almost 6feet, can't find long enough in seems, all boots have to be altered by shoe cobbler (or whatever you call them) because of my tiny calves.

    i was coming in to say this exact thing.

    shortening a leg length is pretty much a non factor when choosing pants because of this. i just got some jeans hemmed for $5 at my neighborhood dry cleaner.

    I get mine at Avenue, but that's because I have thick thighs, and they fit a shorter person (not entirely "petite"), and they're very affordable!

    I got a pair of jeggings for $30 last weekend, and they're amazing!!! LOVE THEM!!!!

    Seriously, learn tailoring. If length is your only problem that's pretty easy to do by hand.

    I have the waist problem too. My thighs and butt are generously sized but my waist is tiny in comparison, so I have to go with a size 2 even though my waist is smaller than a size 0. I'm trying to teach myself to fix that problem-- you have to rip apart a lot of seams and reconstruct the top but it's so much easier than trying to find jeans off the rack that don't have a waist gap (if they even exist).

    If you're really having trouble with the calves you might have to do jeggings in lieu of skinnies.

    I have almost all of my clothes tailored. It's not as expensive as you would think. Usually 8-10 bucks for some jeans and 12 or so for a skirt/dress. I even have the arms on my jackets adjusted.

    Your local drycleaners should do this. Take them an older pair of jeans that are too long, have em hemmed, and see if they do a good job. That's my recommendation.

    Then, just shop for jeans that fit in the legs and waist. That's hard enough as it is without having to worry about length.

    PS: the petite jeans at banana republic run really short. I'm only 5'1 and those ones are too short for me.

    I recently discovered "Just My Size" jeans (short) at Walmart. I totally know where you're coming from. I buy "short" length jeans all the time, and still have to roll them up (I don't love that look, either). These were the first jeans I've found since before I was an adult that actually fit me. With that said, I think I'm a 28" inseam, but I think they'd fit you much better than most.

    Another tailoring/alteration suggestion. If you find jeans that fit everywhere but the waist, you can have the waist taken in to fit you properly. Buying any kind of pants is difficult for women.

    They sell clothes for little midgets all of the time. They also have auditions for freak shows for small, goofy looking people if you are interested. The question is, why don't they sell clothes everywhere for big, tall, slender and sexy men like me? Because we are genuine, we need a special order :)

    Buckle has some nice ones that aren't too bad and free alterations..once u add alterations to some others it may be worth it.

    I'm replying so I can read later! I have natrually wide hips and thick thighs but i'm a shorty for sure! I have a heck of a time trying to find jeans! I hate paying to get them hemmed! "sigh:

    Maurices. I work there and we have x-short, short, regular, and long in all sizes of our core jeans and in most of our specialty jeans, our core jeans run $29. you should check it out :)

    Lee jeans (Kohl's) have always had roomier thighs and are not expensive. NYDJ are $100-ish; I found them to be forgiving for hips but not as much for thighs. I like the trouser jeans at the Gap but they have to be hemmed. In a dark wash they make my legs look long (in boots) (and that is quite an optical illusion for 5'1.5") . Google wide shaft / wide calf boots - you are not the only one with muscular calves :) The extra inches on a boot heel make petite lengths work nicely for the shorter inseam and give you a long leg if the pants hit mid-heel.
