I'm part of the community too  Going off your profile, we also have similar goals and current weight.

I just googled it to have a look. Here's the youtube link for those who are curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNPLuSx_06U It's pretty silly IMO and doesn't really seem to sell their service/producs.

Just to clarify for sure, are you counting the calories in the slimfast or are you sticking to 1200 and then having the slimfast as well?

Haha I also do the "wobble test" ;) I've not been a healthy weight since I was about 8 years old so I'm really not sure what my ideal weight is going to be. In saying that, it would seem that BMI is going to be pretty accurate for me. My BMI is currently 25.3 so right on the border between healthy and overweight. The top…

I sometimes make my own sushi rolls using fresh veggies and tofu (you could use meats too if you eat meat). Vietnamese rice paper rolls are also a great one to take for lunches but they take a bit of practice to have them looking nice :p

I really like tamari. It makes nice stir fries if you cook the vegetables in a little sesame oil and then add tamari sauce and honey.

I was considering martial arts. Cost is an issue but I'll look into it. Right now moving to a better neighbourhood isn't an option as I'm supporting myself as a student and it's all that I can afford for now. I'm in Australia so no guns here (which is good because predators also don't have guns). Even pepper spray is…

I've never eaten kohlrabi.

I'm from Melbourne so we're almost neighbours

I used to be vegan for moral reasons but when I started paying closer attention to my health, I realised that a lot of the foods that I was eating to replace meat and dairy had so many unnatural and heavily processed ingredients that I really didn't want to be eating. I'm not saying that veganism can't be done but it…

BMI works as a general guide but it's not accurate for everyone. You could try getting a dexa scan. They screen your body with a machine and they can tell you what your body composition looks like and what a healthy weight for you is based on your body. I plan to get one once my weight is a little bit lower because I've…

This is exactly what I did. I started at 213lbs and told myself that I would be happy getting to 165lbs. I now expect to hit that goal this week but I've decided that 140lbs is my new goal. I'm not even in the healthy weight range yet but I've had one comment about being too thin. My ex came over to take the dog to the…

I have exactly the same problem in my neighbourhood. I live in one of the worst areas in my city because it's cheap rent, my housemates parents own the place and I can keep my dogs here. When I walk around the neighbourhood, I get harassed a lot more since I lost weight. Men shout things at me and one guy came and grabbed…

Welcome  I'm fairly new as well. Feel free to add me if you like.

I'm femme. I'm in Australia though. I spent a few years trying to be "more gay" when I was a teenager but it just wasn't me. Now I practically live in dresses and embrace my femininity.

It would really depend on the type of protein powder as well. If you are using a fairly natural one with no sweeteners, preservatives or flavouring, I can't see it being an issue at all. I would avoid anything with a lot of sweeteners and crap though. My mum used to make me protein smoothies as a kid for similar reasons (I…

No tattoos here. I love how they look on others but I'm not sure if I could ever commit to have the same design stuck on me forever. If I did get one though, I'd probably get something with blue wrens in the design. I have my nose pierced and that's all of the piercings that I'm getting because my body always rejects them…

Hey, I'm Tash :) I'd love to have more MFP friends of the queer variety. You're all welcome to add me. I live in Melbourne, Australia.

That seems quite a low weight to me but it depends on your frame. I'm 78kg currently and I fit a UK 12-14. I'm aiming for somewhere between 65kg and 70kg. I haven't decided yet. But I have quite a muscular build and I tend to look a little bit smaller than my weight would suggest. 59kg on me would look far too thin.

What an amazing difference! Good work :)

Take it from someone who takes Niacin regularly (for depression, it works), you would definitely know it if you are experiencing the flush. I take 250mg supplements daily when I'm experiencing symptoms and at that dose, I get a mild flush. At 100mg, no flush. A niacin flush is very tingly and sometimes itchy. All over, but…

I don't know much about soy protein but if you're worried about it and want to use a protein powder other than whey, a few studies have found brown rice protein to be comparable to whey in terms of effectiveness.

Where did you get the two week figure from? I've lost 41 lbs in roughly 6 months (I think, can't remember exactly when I started.) So for me, it's really quite a long way down the track with 19 lbs to go but I'm still losing a fair bit.
-
I wonder how important it is to stick to these figures if you're still losing a decent amount each week without adjusting anything. I have about 19lbs still to lose (have lost 41lbs already). Without dropping my calorie limit, I am still happily losing about 2lbs per week. Oh, and I eat 1400 calories and eat back those…

My face is really starting to show changes now. Plus I also dyed my hair so there's that :P I find the first pic really quite embarrassing.
