  • Thanks for the info guys. If I was going to buy an activity tracker and a HRM separately, which would you say is the most useful? I'm thinking maybe the heart rate monitor because my work outs are the activity that I track. I don't really mind if my incidental activity is more of a weight loss bonus that I'm not accounting…
  • I'm the same as you. I gained my weight just eating too much of the right foods and not moving enough. I can't remember the last time that I had fast food. Maybe 7 or 8 years ago and it would have been a once off, not a regular thing. Same for soda (which we call soft drink where I live). For the past 3 years I have eaten…
  • I second popcorn. Also, I'm not sure where you are located but where I am in Australia they sell roasted salted chickpeas that are really nice and about 150 calories a serve.
  • You look fantastic! This also makes me happy because my first goal is close to where you are now and your middle photo looks similar to what I looked like at 188. I would be pretty stoked to look like your current pic once I hit my first goal!! Keep up the good work :)
  • I've lost 17 kg (About 37 lbs) and still no one has said anything :(
  • I have read that if your symptoms are from the neck up (sore throat, ear ache etc), it's perfectly fine for you to work out. If your symptoms are below the neck or all over (fever, body aches) you should skip the work out and rest.
  • Neither. I would be smack bang in the middle. I agree with calories in, calories out, however I try to make sure that all or most of my calories come from unprocessed healthy foods and I don't really limit things like cholesterol and healthy fats. I avoid refined sugar most of the time and don't touch artificial sweeteners…
  • I've tried WW three times and have had some success each time but always ended up giving up at about the weight that I'm at currently and then gaining it all back plus more. I found their recipes and advice didn't accommodate different eating habits very well. I'm pescetarian (no meat, only seafood) and I also try to avoid…
  • I plan to get an xbox one as soon as I get my tax refund this year. I would be very interested to hear what you guys have to say about it because it might be something that I'll be interested in once I get my xbox one.
  • Whichever one you buy, I would recommend getting a good one. I wasted money on a cheap one many years ago and then never used it because it creaked and didn't feel sturdy or at all like the ones I had used at the gym. I finally spent a few grand on a good one last year and now I use it almost everyday. The features are far…
  • Does anyone know if listing it as cooked or not really makes that much of a difference? I can't imagine that a potato gains or loses any calories if all I do is wash it and bake it whole (without oil) for instance.
  • Fellow nerd here. I like sci fi and gaming. The Dragon Age Inquisition release date is when I plan to be at my first goal :P (though I think I'll keep losing more.)
  • A lot of people find this TDEE calculator more accurate for estimating maintenance calories. http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ I'm not on maintenance yet but for me it estimates my maintenance calories to be 1800 before accounting for exercise and I currently eat between 1300 and 1400.
  • I really need to get a heart rate monitor because I use the elliptical nearly everyday and just use what MFP says. Mind you, I work pretty hard with a high resistance and incline and MFP estimates about half of what the machine estimates.
  • I Wanna Get Better - Bleachers Hold Music - Architecture in Helsinki Mr Maker - The Kooks Beware the Dog - The Griswolds Carried Away - Passion Pit Afterlife - Ingrid Michaelson Time - Jungle
  • So I made it and it turned out great. Super yummy! I used blueberries instead and added a teaspoon of vanilla. I'll definitely make it again.
  • Yum! Looks good. I enjoy baking but I haven't been doing much of it lately because a lot of it is so unhealthy. I think I will have to try both of these cheesecakes.
  • Cinnamon doughnuts. I hadn't had one in ages so I decided to treat myself today. The lady at the counter thought she would be nice and give me a second one for free...nice of her but not so great when I'm trying to limit my calories and a second one in the same bag is just asking for me to stuff up haha, Luckily I was good…
  • That's great! Well done :) It's always nice finding that you fit back into something that was previously too tight.
  • Adorable :) Some names: Kota, Chester, Kade, Bailey, Diesel, Morris, Cinder, Louis, Bentley (someone else suggested Bentley already. I think it's cute.) Have fun with your new addition. How exciting!
  • I use the Aldi Slim and Trim shakes for the convenience factor. It's super easy for me to mix up a shake in a drink bottle and pack a bag of air popped popcorn to have for lunch. It also has a decent amount of protein and nutrients.
  • Feel free to add me if you'd like to :) I'm in Melbourne.
  • I'm 24 and live in Melbourne, Australia. Don't have kids or a partner but I have two small dogs that I love to bits :)
  • I made this one (link below) today but I tweaked it a little bit. I pan fried the salmon and marinaded it in tamari sauce for an hour or so before cooking. I also had it with rice instead of the soba noodles and it was fantastic.…
  • Miso Salmon with Chinese Broccoli and Edamame :)
  • I have no personal experience with this as I'm yet to plateau, however I've heard of other people having success from redistributing their weekly calories. For example, if someone is eating 1300 calories per day, that's 9100 per week. Rather than having 1300 per day, they might eat 1000 calories 3 days a week and 1525…
  • Is there a reason that you haven't started on the 5-HTP yet? I have depression and mild anxiety which flares up every few years. I've just recently managed to get on my feet again after a recent episode. I don't take antidepressants as I find that natural supplements, cutting out sugar, meditating, seeing a psychologist…
  • My why is that I want the lifestyle and confidence that comes with being healthy. I related a lot to what izu87 said. I find that I use my weight as an excuse to not try new things, not meet new people and not approach potential partners because I decide that they wouldn't be interested in me due to my weight before even…
  • Air popped popcorn is pretty low cal too.
