My mom was Korean, and my dad of German/Dutch descent, so I had quite the range of foods. Traditional American home cooking (pot roast, spaghetti) with Korean stuff that Mom preferred (kimchee, hot fish, lots of vegetable type condiments). Always rice with every meal. We also had a huge garden in the backyard, so homegrown…

I have days when I'm super hungry. It often depends on if I've had enough fiber, or ate some empty calories earlier in the day, or had liquid calories like juice or a Starbucks beverage. Or sometimes I haven't had enough water and thirst is posing as hunger. But sometimes I'm just hungry, dang it. I do go over my calories…

I love teriyaki salmon as well. Soy Vey marinade is also delicious, and Trader Joe's makes a version of it that's pretty close.

Congratulations!!!

Looks amazing! Baking sequence commencing.

Heard this the other day on the radio, which is funny and food for thought. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o-u4IwXkbE I like the suggestions with recipes by other members. Something to keep in mind: a Costco chocolate muffin has 690 calories.

I think it's fantastic!

I get chilled much easier - so I go with clothing layers to replace the fat layers!

Welcome! It's quite the helpful site, I have to say. Good luck on your journey, and if you want to friend me, feel free!

If calories are the fuel for your engine, why feel bad about refueling? I don't think it's wrong, but you may be beating yourself up for no reason.

Yup, not giving up any food. I am giving up overeating on a daily basis, and underexercising!

What if you like cooking vegan food, just not all the time? I usually do organic, home prepared food - I think it makes all the difference. I own Vegan with a Vengeance and Appetite for Reduction.

Fantastic!

Totally can relate. Last week, I had a Costco box of Rice Crispy Treats that I brought for one of my classes. There were quite a few left over, and they sat on my desk while I made parent phone calls. I thought, maybe I'll just have a bite or two of one in between calls. I think I stopped after 9. That day, I logged in…

There's a company called Title Nine, and they rate the sports bras they sell in terms of support and compression (one to five barbells). Good luck!

That explains a lot!

I love our local CSA - I took a year off because I found that I wasn't eating all the produce because of my cooking habits at the time. I'm thinking I'll start again this summer because my produce intake has gone way up. Also, I tried doing the almost year round share, and there were times in November that I thought I…

I am with you on the, "but I eat organic, and lots of produce"! Eye opening, for certain. I am going with the slow but steady path. I got too impatient the first time around, and wasn't committed to keeping it off. Best of luck with you on the journey!

M-F: rice milk, almond milk, fish oil, fiber powder, Trader Joe's red Antioxidant powder, blueberries, protein/vitamin shake. Weekends: something eggy/bacony but usually calorically reasonable (except for this weekend!)

Welcome, Doug!

Best of luck to you as well! This site is so helpful, and the people are wonderfully supportive.

What a wonderful perspective! Thanks for writing this!

There are also rice protein shake mixes, pea protein, and hemp that my local organic market sells. Those might be worth a try. Good luck!

Congratulations!

Fantastic job!

What a turkey. I can't believe some folks. So sorry.

I wish you the best of luck, and am so sorry about your loss. Take care.

I'm sending a message - I'm too long winded!
