All you can eat Pizza and Chineese Buffetts. I absolutely loved them.

Agreed. I would like to see it too.

But the “Starvation mode†idea here is that you can not loose weight in starvation mode. You have to increase those calories above the BMR. to loose. That is not true. It may be unhealthy but if you have a lot of weight to loose it can be done.
-
And while I'm at it. Why do all the people say you "have to eat 1200 calories". It is alway at least 1200 calories. The state it before even knowing the facts of the person. My 65 year old 4'11 mother that does nothing and trying to loose 30lbs does not have to eat 1200 calories. get off the 1200 calorie bandwagon people.…

I always go back to the anamalistic way of thinking. Animals fatten up for winter when food is scarce so that the fat can be used for energy. Is there any difference when I reduce my calories so my body will tap into my fat stores for energy to survive.

I like the way Vaclav Gregor (Greg) put it....All credit goes to Greg. Metabolic slow down & “Starvation mode†According to diet programs, you should experience metabolic slow down or starvation mode, when you are not eating regularly or eating below your BMR (explanations differ sometimes, which I found very…

Good explination! How did you choose "to set my daily calorie goal to the maintenance calories of my goal weight (160) at a sedentary level" Did you make your current weight your goal weight?

Sorry, no I have not. I had a friend that had used cycle traker and he ended up liking cyclist pro better. FYI there are so many out there. the one I am using is Cycllist PRO GPS + http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cyclist-pro-gps-+/id462162049?mt=8 It has all kinds of fitness modes from walking running biking skating and…

I use cyclist pro. It can be used for walking or cyclist. Also it can be used with Wahoo Fitness products like a HRM or Speed sensors. I rate it a 5 star

LOL I'm net 3 so far. I 1332 cal burned in cardio and 1335 gross cal. No problem here
-
So far I've lost 6 in from my stomach and dropped 3 pants sizes. I've lost 2" from my neck and 4 " from my chest.. So, I would say I have lost a lot of fat.. This has been done in 3 months. I started at 260 and now at 220.. I was doing 1200 gross calories and then burning at least 700 calories and not eating them back..so…

Yes there is a lot of controversy about that topic but as long as you fat % is hig enough it can be done. I use a body composition analyzer and with my workouts I know I'm getting stronger.
-
You can still add muscle eating less calories then your BMR if you have enough fat. Eat proper protein after your workouts will repair muscle.. I'm doing it now. Have added muscle and loss 40 lbs in the last 3 months and I'm netting real low calories and eatting way below my BMR.. So not bull for me...

I think alot of people do not take in account their percent of body fat. If my body fat % is 20-30% and I do not eat at my BMR, My body will break down that fat to use it as energy to survive. This happens everyday in nature. Animals and people put on fat to survive during times when food is scarce. Now I do agree when you…

The problem is that we are now eating good food that fills you up. If I eat good protein and lots of fruit and veggies and try to keep fat < 20%, calorie intake will be low and I will be stuffed. 400 calories of good protein and fruit and veggies will stuff you. Sure when I was eating bad...I could eat 1/2 a pizza ( 4…

Sometime my numbers a way higher and sometimes they match up depending on the exercise. MFP numbers are avererages and your HRM is based upon your hard work. Everyone is different and and burn calories defferently. Go by your HRM.

I ride a trek fx 7.7. No matching gear and no helmet. When I was growing up they were unheard of. I don't think there is a need to start now. I must be a rebel. I hope they do not look down on me.

I started running when I joined the Army. I hated it when I started. 6 yrs later, I still hated. I was doing 5-7 miles. Never, ever like running. I wish I could like it.

I'm sort of in the same boat as you. I have been on a 1500 cal intake and had been doing a 50-50 split of strength and cardio 5 -6 times a week and spending about 60 min for the workout. I was not eating all of my calories back and was losing 3-4 pounds a week. After my 35 lb drop and 2 weeks ago, I decided to go heavier…

I wore my HRM 13 hrs today.. 8 hours seating behind a desk with a 1/2 hr walk 1.5 miles uphill. Another few hours cooking and working outside and a 2 mile bike ride. The polar states I burned 3870 calories. Could that be correct?

I have the same problem when I run. I am suspecting it is related to landing on the ball of the foot rather then the heal. I think the the main Impact needs to be with the heal and roll the foot to the ball of the foot. I have to really concentrate for that to happen. Love to hear what the pros have to say

Well I'm not a cetified fitness trainer but I may help shead some light in simple understanding terms. The fat zone or Low Intensity burns approx 50 % fat . The high Intensity or cardio zone burns approx 39.8% fat. The body does burn a higher percentage of calories from fat in the fat burning zone or at lower intensities.…
