  • I only ever get that if I'm dehydrated and/or haven't eaten properly before the workout (not right before but maybe an hour before!) Felt like that at a recent run - but had forgotten to have breakfast and that was the problem :) So check to see if you eat enough to do the exercise maybe.
  • Haha, thanks guys. Celebrating will definitely be done once I have some sort of breath back.
  • I recently upgraded from the free app to the paid PRO endomondo app and am using the 'low power' mode on it all the time when I'm out running. It's fab and doesn't eat my battery much at all, even with the gps on! http://www.endomondo.com/profile/4256923 <- if you want to add me? I'd love to have active friends on…
  • My eldest will be 9 in January and I've left her alone for short periods (up to 2 hours) - she's quite mature though, so I know I can trust her. It totally depends on the child though. I know several kids her age and even older that I wouldn't leave alone if they were mine.
  • 14 is a hard age to try and talk to. My own kids aren't quite there yet, but my 8 year old reacts the same - whenever I talk to her about something she doesn't like talking about or thinks I don't understand, she flips at me, gets really aggressive and closes up. So, I've bought a notebook and wrote to her in that,…
  • I have 1 ginger cat (ca 6 yrs), 1 black kitten (4 months), 1 corn snake (we named her Snakey St. Pat - cos we found her in our garden but apparently that's impossible in Ireland thanks to St patrick and all that hahaha -she's an escaped pet, couldn't find owner) I also have a Sloth (aka Husband) and 4 monkeys (aka kids)
  • Thank you both for the lovely replies! Lily's still at home sick with me today, but I'm hoping she'll be over it soon. Sorry to hear your baby's so sick. really hope she recovers very soon so she can be the happy little star at her christening :)
  • Hello fellow mums!! :flowerforyou: My youngest boy is now 13 months, but I'm still struggling to get back to a healthy weight. He's still breastfeeding, which helps a little bit I suppose!! The other three are 2 (girl), 4 (boy) and 8 (girl). Always nice to have fellow mums as friends so feel free to add me as your friend…
  • Heya, I'm not quite your age anymore (sadly, I've crossed the evil threshold into the mid-late 30s *whimper*) but I'm in Ireland :) So, if it helps, feel free to befriend me! Always nice to have people from your own time zone!!!
  • Hi Corinne (and everyone else!) THANK YOU for making up this group. It's what I need!! I started here end Jan/early Feb this year at 183lbs and went down to 153 by the end of JUNE!!!! 30lbs and boy was I happy and proud of myself!!! Then, 6 weeks away over the summer and a month after that of weddings and birthdays (my own…
  • I'd say don't put toooooo much weight on what MFP tells you. A LOT of the times it tells me I'm really below my iron count - only that I'm not. It's just that many foods here on MFP in the database have been put in without the iron content of it. And I don't eat any meat so it's harder for me to get up there. You don't…
  • My butternut squash, red lentil and sweet potato soup has been a winner every time with friends and family alike, very yum on a cold day!! Hope you enjoy too if you try it! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Schnuddelbuddel/view/butternut-squash-sweet-potato-red-lentil-soup-443209
  • Thanks for all the replies guys :) (and apologies for opening a can of worms  )
  • Ehm.. yes, you can get fruit scones, but you can also get wholemeal scones, cheese scones etc. My kids eat savoury scones in their lunches sometimes (with chives and feta or courgette) Plus I prefer the sweet ones. And a cheddar scone = totally yum with jam. Then again, I eat strawberry jam on my cheese sandwich, so maybe…
  • Never seen Eggbeaters brand over here. Must look into them. Had an omelette for dinner tonight with tofu/peas/feta - 26g protein. Not a fan of eggs, but the ingredients and a LOT of seasoning helped me out
  • Just to add - if you use soya or almond milk in your coffee, put the milk into the cup BEFORE the coffee. Especially soya milk will curdle if you add it to the hot beverage. But it won't do that if the hot beverage is added to it. Almond milk is also mightily tasty in cereal. Gives it a nice flavour  Don't ask me…
  • Thanks! Today I managed to get to 93g protein (103, but 10 taken off for breastfeeding allowance) so that's a good day today! Now to get every day like that!!!!
  • wheat can make you bloated, but doesn't look like you're eating much of that? As for breakfast - I eat porridge a lot, with dried fruit (raisins usually) and cinnamon, quite tasty that. Otherwise, try Oatibix with milk if wheat is the culprit cos weatabix won't help you then ;) Don't use any of those 'low fat' cereals.…
  • Cool, thanks for that! Never thought of H&B! Might pop into one next time I'm out. Also, thanks for the recipe - will have a good look and see if I can have a go without too much fuss :flowerforyou:
  • Mmmmhhh... cold topping: cottage cheese, chives and fresh black pepper.... OR hot topping: sauteed spinach/onion with just a pinch of nutmeg and the tiniest amount of cream and/or cubed Feta on top!! Yum!!!!
  • Thanks - googled a lot last night and decided to give Sunwarrior a go. Hubby agreed so I can now go get it - not cheap tho at 45 euro (57 ish US$!) for 1 kg. but if the packet's right and it lasts for 45 servings, I suppose that's not too bad. Thanks again for the answers :)
  • Thanks guys, will look into protein shakes so!
  • That book sounds fun, thanks!!! Will see if our library has it as I would like to see it before buying (looks like it's a US book and some ingredients might be hard to find over this side of the big pond!) Haven't used seitan in AGES. Do you happen to have any good, fun recipes for it? (edited to add: there's no way I'd…
  • Thanks! What brand is that shake? Yes, Quinoa is one of my favourites, I now even make Granola bars with it (thanks to a recipe shared by a fellow MFPer!)
  • Thanks for that! Yes, I do eat dairy and eggs, so will see how they fit in with the lower fat :) Whey protein - those are those shakes, right? Must look into it and see if there are veggie ones around.
  • Why would your drivers license say it in the first place? Is that normal in the US? Haven't ever seen a 'weight' part here in Europe, it's such a fluctuating thing though seems silly to have it in the first place, unlike other things to ID you, like eyes, height etc.
  • OMG they're scones!!! But... scones go with cream and strawberry jam!!!!! LOL... I'd hesitate very much to pour gravy over a scone. How odd tastes are!
  • Yes, I'm in Ireland and a biscuit is a cookie. Why, what is it over in the US???
