I am 62 and havE been diagnosed since 1991. The problems arose before I was diagnosed. There are longer term issues, tiredness, inability to lose weight (gaining quickly), hair loss are my main 3 side effects if I am not careful. Know your numbers, this follows a pattern for me too, more thyroxine needed in winter, more…

I am lucky in that I have a great GP and if needs be private health care. I tolerate levo well too but find after many years of monitoring that I need at least 25mcg more in the winter than the summer. It took almost 4 years to find a stability dose. Illness and food make a difference too. Recent diagnosis of b12…

Wanted to clarify my thinking: Sugar doesn't 'give' diabetes, otherwise every living creature would be diabetic. Too much sugar or too little in the blood stream is a result of diabetes. However there are positive correlations between obesity and diabetes (type2). That doesn't mean that obesity causes diabetes, just that…

The most important change is the one in your attitude. With that change the rest will follow. So when will you see a difference: the answer is now because you have changed who you are and what you want. Jas

Someone left a half empty jar of nutella in the cupboard, it went off and when I opened it the smell was awful. If you want to give this very highly processed food up for a lifetime then let the stuff go off (rancid oil) and you will be put off forever. Jas

Whatever your results, your new healthy lifestyle is moving in the right direction. I hope your numbers show an improvement too. Jas

I am hypo and my cortisol is normally very high. Am told because diabetic ensure you get the full cortisol stress tests and variable glucose tolerance. It is a tough road for you and I hope you get the answers you seek Jas

Listen to your own heart. Stay if you must or go if you want. Whatever you do or don't only you will decide. It isn't for me to judge, you asked for advice as you are conflicted, I suspect you have already decided. I hope it goes well but going is irrevocable and staying is reversible. Breathe deep Jas

Give yourself time! Stretched skin will adjust somewhat and not look as bad when losing weight slowly. it may take a little time, plus getting work you would like done is best after it settles down. Skin will also 'grow' a little with large weight gains especially if this is fast gain. If at the end of it then you feel you…

That is fantastic and a wonderful accomplishment in achieving your goal

Sb Know how you feel as my tummy puts me uk 12-14 and we are almost the same weight. I suspect it is a thyroid thing. I do exercise my abs constantly, my legs are ok and arms amazing but I have rib fat and love handles. I suspect it is not depression that haunts us but justifiable sadness at the thyroid issue. In spite of…

You will need both!

Nothing artificial or processed. Love berries with everything breakfasty and organic oats plus hemp seeds, plain yogurt and skimmed milk. Mix it in various proportions, have it cold and hot. With a cup of ginger, green or white tea Jasmin

Of course I cheat: it's like asking 'do you always tell the truth?' it isn't possible to be perfect all the time and I don't believe anyone who says they don't. The question is not do you or even should you but how much do you cheat. But log the cheat! Jas

You look beautiful both before and after, and so much happier having reached your health goals too. So elegant in your after photos. Glowing

Actually I am only half joking: trying to make my point slightly more humorously. But truly at first my lega and butt seemed so much slimmer, I felt lthey were longer, leaner and a great asset. Now they seem to be more wobbly than they should be. I know that at a size 10 (us 6) I can't be massive but bits of me feel much…

It is very tough sometimes to get a diagnosis but you didn't give up and in fact i think because of your determination got a quick diagnosis. It may not feel that way to you though!! Good for you to get this identified. ::flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: I would agree with Debbie, taking your pages with you and monitoring…

I agree with almost all the sage advice. For us hypos it is a slow and steady wins the race. Good news is that as I have been very very slowly reducing, I have seen fellow norms yo-yo up and down. There is some pleasure (even if the evil in me is secretly happy at being the tortoise that wins the race.

I have not been able to find one. So I make my own from whey, oats, tinned apple and egg white to bind them, I bake mixture and dust with options chocolate powder.
