  • Cant agree more, AND, best wishes for your journey with your mum. As you say, *kitten* happens, and our task is to meet life on its own terms and stay centred in our own integrity on our way through. I say this, though I did not maintain this while my mum was undergoing cancer treatment recently, but reading your words, it…
  • what great advice. My biggest thing is getting enough sleep so my mind is strong rather than slightly more vulnerable to cravings, to read the forums so I feel connected and supported, do a decent lchf breakfast, plan meals for the rest of the day, and get to them earlier rather than later, and make sure I make my food at…
  • Do you have the chance to see a decent naturopath, or integrative medicine dr? If its mineral, vitamin or amino acid deficiencies, there will be other signs they will notice that you may not. Even changes to mood, and thinking.…
  • Thanks for that. Did they say if that works for pre diabetics? Not me- I am insulin resistant, but have a friend who is pre diabetic.
  • this is an awesome thread. I look forward to posting on it myself.
  • Yes. I am a clinical psychologist and teach other health practititioners about experiences like this that are more hormone and insulin related rather than actual panic. Sometimes its the insulin balance changes, sometimes it is electrolyte imbalance, sometimes its just too low protein, or overall calories. There are many…
  • When I read your words, as with all the people on this thread, I just feel so... connected. So comforted oddly. I ate i reckon 300cals of cashews today in a process of getting back on track after a week awol while traveling. Thought the cashews were at least relatively healthy - and not sugar.. :) And OMG, I know what you…
  • Cool info. Michael Mosley, who write the 5/2 diet, and the super low cal diet, has done a few docos, one of which showed how a small amount of daily exercises changes the way the body soaks fat up out of the blood. It was amazing. Thank you so much for the reminder, I need to remember this on my lazy days:)
  • Oh so familiar, yes, I agree electrolytes. I take magnesium, and celtic salt- helps a real lot. .. Mind you, the first time over 20 years ago that I gave up coffee - I had headaches and nausea for 2 weeks..
  • Same for me, I have maybe 1 sometimes 2 pieces of fruit in a week. Just unbalances me too much, and stops me losing weight
  • Glad you are checking with doc. I go for chicken with skin on lamb with fat, (I can't tolerate bacon), but do have avos as well, macadamias
  • Hi, much sympathy for the struggle. I am not on keto .. i have a few other problems that keto makes worse, as does coffee, but I am quite familiar with it, and did lose weight while in ketosis. I can can stay focused for 2-3 months usually on any new regime, but when I go off the path- I don't end up in the wrong street,…
  • Yeah, I'm the same. And it seems to manage my energy and all manner of subtle things.
  • Yeah, I reckon it is like those people who have family at home, they check in daily, and more, I'm kind of accustomed to being independent- BUT- I love reading the forums, so perhaps I will be my own best friend by setting phone reminders to go online. Thank you.
  • I htink that is a strategy that would work well for me too.. I will start that tomorrow. Thank you
  • Amazingly supportive to read all your posts. I tend toward about 50-60 gms carbs a day, much less than that can be a challenge to my wellness.. Then there are days (when I want to drink hot rice milk and cacao) when I head up to 70-80 gms, and others, I'm down around 30. I'm not trying for keto at this stage, it makes me…
  • oooooo I'd give a lot right now for a hot cacao and rice milk. OMG been craving for a couple of hours- which is extremely unusual- I expect I'm not getting enough fat, and possibly water earlier in the day. Or I just plain miss my favourite hot drink and I'm in Darwin for a few days - the northern most big city in…
  • Hi there, I'm over 50 and have over 100lb to lose.. I keep adding to the thread over 40 and more than 75 lb to lose.. you may also want to read some of those threads, there are some amazing people on this journey, Sunny-Bunny_, and KnitOrMiss, and Karlottap and so many others are such fountains of great information- both…
  • Hi there, so good to see so many great faces, stories. I'm wondering for everyone, what is your favourite way to reconnect with eating and logging like you want to log?
  • good on you, stay connected to people who know the journey, like you, I have found so much value in reading the posts.
  • Well done, how cool. Funny how if you were an alcoholic, the people in your family might remove alcohol for a long time form the house, just to make life easier as you shift gears. Well done on losing 50.. Go girl.
  • Yes, you are all awesome. I went off track for a few days- nothing tragic, but I realised that I can slip into treating logging food, reading these posts as negotiable, and so when my daughter drops in from interstate for a few days, I don't take the time to log, and read others stories and info, and as the days go by,…
  • :) I don't often feel envy, but wow, I felt envious when I read this. I don't tolerate coffee or cheese, but eggs, cheese, butter and coffee- oh seriously yum for a day or two of indulgence. :)
  • Gale, great info, thank you. I've had one friend who died, and currently have two clients with brain cancer. I really appreciate the info
  • this has been an amazing thread. It has taken me years to figure out some of this stuff. Unrelated to high cholestoral - mine has always been too low- which causes lots of fatigue. But, I reckon it would be good to collate some of this info and paste it into one of the permanent posts in the LCD group.
  • I don't know about HIT. For most exercise, weights, gym sessions, cycling, even tipping 85-90% of HR max, the hormones or something just give me such a high I don't want to eat, til the next day and I seem to need higher carbs for a day.
  • Oh, congratulations, and best wishes for surgery. My mum is a very vital robust 81 year old. She had breast cancer op days before her 81st, and on her birthday I said, heh mum, not too many people get to have a free boob job at 81. She was extremely fortunate, clear margins, no cancer in nodes, and the surgeon…
  • Sympathy reblazed. I love kettlebells. There are so many free youtube videos about how you can use them. I have 1 sets in low weight, the 2 single kettlebells of higher weights. I keep them at work, and so can do a few weights in between other things. When I was 5 kg lighter, and fitter last year, I could swing them like a…
