  • The wife and I try to use a "cheat day" on Saturday for one meal. She finds calorie counting is very stressful, so she likes one meal that she doesn't have to look for... but she still tries to make a good decision.
  • Come on over to Big & Tall... There are a few of us that are fairly active. Welcome to the group!
  • I'll chime in with a story from me, and one from my short friend. I was hanging out at a bar watching some friends in a local band play. I'm 6'5" 360 lbs. The drummer's cousin came out too and he's 6'8" and had to be over 375 lbs. Then there is my best friend, 5'4" 230 lbs. My best friend had been drinking a bit, (he can…
  • I couldn't say it better myself! I laughed because I get those questions ALL the time too! And my wife's family lives in California (I live in Midwest) and we fly out there about once a year... I hate it.
  • Nope! I prefer to be Big Ed... I just want to be a slightly smaller Big Ed. I have a few friends that are skin and bones and I've heard them complain about not being able to gain weight. I can't understand it, but I also know they don't have a clue how I got to be as big as I am. I just keep thinking to myself. If I lost…
  • I guess I'll have to look into this TDEE stuff. I've seen it all over the place on the forums. I know when I first started MFP a 1 1/2 years ago, it told me to eat 2400 calories, but after talking to my doctor, he told me to do 1500 cal/day.... and we compromised at 1800 cal/day. So far I don't feel stuffed or starved, and…
  • I tend to agree. So far in 3 weeks, I've dropped 20 lbs. I weigh myself before I head to work in the morning, and it's always pretty close. The weight loss has slowed down a little bit (4 lbs in the last week), so I am feeling much more comfortable with it. I just keep on trucking along!
  • I haven't done measurements, but I should probably do that sometime soon... As for weigh in. Starting August weight: 366
  • 5 pounds down this week. I did really well and looking forward to my cheat meal tomorrow for lunch. On Wednesday I helped a friend rennovate a store... so I was up and down a ladder for about 4 hours. My calves still hurt! Haha. Hope everyone else is having a good week.
  • It's so funny that you call it a budget! I literally told my wife last night, "I can't afford that! It's way too many calories!" I am a number cruncher so I too see it as a budget. If I don't have the calories in my bank, I don't get to eat it.
  • I can hardly wait to see a 2XX on the scale! I feel like if I can get there, I've won a major battle. My wife wants to weigh in on Fridays, so I did and low and behold... 11 lbs less than when I started! That just feels so good! I was starting to be tempted by fast food on the way to work today, and it didn't help that I…
  • Thanks! I sit at a desk all day at work, so I tend to drink a lot of water out of boredness... Who knows... If I did lose around 10 lbs in the first week that would be stellar! That would give me great motivation to keep going.
  • Chiming in here with size 16's... Oddballshoe.com As a teen, I didn't want New Balance 608's... and there wasn't much else around me that carried anything close. I found Oddball Shoe and never looked back. They carry a lot of major brands for all styles. Rockports to Vans to Nike and everything in between. The only…
  • Ha, yea... that is SO true! At my job, we are supplied uniform polo shirts and I always have to really bring home the point that is has to be tall. If not, I can't tuck in my shirt. But growing up, my mom used to always say I was, "tall... and all"
  • Well I'm on board here! I'm 28, 6'5" and when I weighed in monday I was at my highest weight, 382lbs. I started MFP last February and had good results and friends that were doing it with me. They have all since either stopped. I'm just tired of not wanting pictures taken. I'm tired of very little selection of clothes. And…
  • Sorry, it seems like this place kind of died... I joined this awhile ago, and left until Monday. I would love to see more people active in this group. I might try to find one that is a little more active.
  • You might call your Doctor again. I had a similar issue last year, and had to wait 3 days for an appointment. When I finally got in, he yelled at me for not calling sooner. When I told him that there wasn't anything available, he advised me that in the future, if it's something serious, stress that to the receptionist,…
  • Last time I'll hijack this comment. I am a supervisor here, and we have been trying to get off of 8 hour shifts. We have discussed 10's and 12's. For our dept, we are just too big to have it work out nicely. Our staffing averages out 13 people 24 hours a day. I would love 12's but the induced overtime is a worry for the…
  • WOW! An hour lunch?!? I also work for a 911 Dispatch Center. We work "8-Straight" so we eat at our desk. I currently rotate every 28 days between daywatch and afternoons. The difference is schedule doesn't screw with me too much, as I have a wife that works days, and no kids, so it's easy for me to work out after work on…
  • 911 Operator. I sit at a desk all day :(
  • That's great! I too had that problem with 30 day shred video. I did it for 4 minutes and said forget it, but after sitting on the couch for 2 minutes, I picked myself back up and finished the workout. I felt awesome. You should be proud of yourself! With determination like that, you are sure to succeed!
  • Thanks for all the support so far! I like the ideas of modifying working out. I do a speed walk with them and some steps to get my heart going. Also, I stole my wife's 30 Day Shred DVD. I finished level 1, so I was happy about that. My wife was doing WW, but I talked her into downloading this App. I mean, IT'S FREE! I was…
