Still crickets. Does anyone use a Garmin for 'Activities' biking, jogging, etc....and log food in MFP? I'm looking to give and take daily support and motivation.
-
It is funny Garmin Connect has a bunch for Tri's and Running, but only one for biking. I'm guessing training for biking is primarily....."put on your helmet and begin pedaling." And not much more than that. I did seven 3:00 min hill repeats yesterday (according to the above plan) it was in the 90s...HOT!

Awesome. 92 down.....I know it is a process but still, 8 lbs. away from "amazing" I just did today's 2 hour ride. All three contact points hurt: hands, feet, and butt.
-
Thanks, I started their 10-week beginner plan. I have to go do my 2 hour easy ride now.....from the plan phase to the actual pedaling phase.

I was thinking about what your wrote TheBigYin, It all makes sense. My original request popped up though, I'm overweight, my idea is to meld two things that will work together. Daily food tracking in MFP for food intake accountability, and having an activity and plan to accomplish it, keeping track on Garmin Connect. The…

Thanks. my first few short rides have been sans padded bike shorts...I gotta get some of those quick.
-
Okay, I'll link on MFP first.
-
Even if you log in MFP and you are 'thinking' about using a Garmin to track stuff, shoot me a note.

When is your 50mile ride?

I have weight loss goals and activity goals. I'm hoping that working in concert I can make progress on both. I think tracking food in MFP helps with the first part and tracking activities in GC helps with the second. If I am right, I'd like the social lubricant of a few others with the same two goals (many of us) and the…

Hmm, this thread landed with a soft thud. No collaborating using Garmin Connect for activities, and daily food logging in MFP?

A rode a 100K about ten years ago. I rode daily commutes for a very long time and stopped cold about two years ago. So I know how to ride, but my butt has lost all familiarity with my saddle. Palms too. Thanks for the GC tip.

If you have the time and interest, how about June? Three a week? Two? Four? Great job! I'm coming up on 100
-
I have a bike ride coming up. It helps my motivation.
-
Any others? Thanks for these two plans, MFP is great. Also, anyone want to do a 100k bike ride in about eight weeks?

On Sunday 5/28/17 I ran the Mountain2Beach Marathon. 5:54:14. :)

Here is another one, it is ten weeks long. This site has ten-week 'beginner,' 'intermediate,' and 'advanced' plans. https://www.bhf.org.uk/get-involved/events/training-zone/cycling-training-zone/cycling-training-schedule Interestingly they are both British sites? Go U.K.!
-
Thanks, just FYI this is a ten-week plan. But it might work, and I'll compare and contrast it with the "panic" plan.

Someone sent this.... https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/knowledge/article/izn20130429-Seven-week-panic-plan-0

Found it, it sounds ideal. Thanks. Any other plans out there?

Send a link please..I'll give it a look

I believe you are being too specific and missing a bigger picture for a lot of men here. For a man with 70% body at 5' 9" he could weigh himself and make a plan to drop 150 lbs. About a year or more later he could re-check and find he is now at 25% bodyfat at which point he could redefine his work toward body composition.…

At age 40 I gained a bunch of weight. I've ran a lot (18:15 5K) biked, swam, tennis, I have always enjoyed moving around. But at 40 I blew up, and sat down for second helpings of supper. At 45 I started to have hip pain on one side. I started about a five year run of very consistently doing Iyengar Yoga. My hip hurt for…

I have been out a week with a small knee tweak, I can't imagine how to keep calm and centered knowing it would be weeks and months, rather than days. I wish you the best.

Wow, I just went through hundreds of posts here. It is difficult. It might have been better to have three groups, female twins, male twins, opposite gender twins. The ration is about 100:1 female to male and I'm not thinking I'm going to be able to come close to finding a male twin. Oh well, first world problem I guess.

I've no answer for you. I've been on a training regiment since December and last Tuesday night my knee became sore. I didn't get my Wed, Thur, or today's run in as planned. It is depressing. Yesterday I finally bought an ACE bandage and iced it, and wrapped it for a couple of hours. RICE.... I can't sit with a bag of ice…

Imagine a beautiful, loving supportive relationship existed between a women and a man who met on MFP. You know, the dreamy kind of relationship that nearly everyone imagines is possible and and is interested in being a part of. Somewhere there was a suggestion. It was an emoji, then a 'hi' then a "hey there"....and on and…

My Activite Steel arrived on Wednesday. I've got it up and running. I learning about the sync, the app, the webpage, and most importantly trying to wrap my head around the data that it automatically collects. Two things off the top: I've run(barely) and it shows it as walking...I don't get that validation...boo I must…
