On being older, carrying 50% or more additional weight when you are younger is easier then when some years have gone by. My feet don't hurt when I wear shoes which gives me confidence to get a better job which requires me to be presentable...for one bene of getting to a lower weight.

These answers mostly make me think of the recent study that showed the higher ons weight, or the greater the level of ones obesity, the higher the estimate of a healthy weight is. I guess another way of putting it is, further one is from some healthy/ideal weight the more distorted their estimate is of what that…

ExerciseGeek I see on your profile that you want 9 stone 4 pounds, is that your goal?
-
What is your goal? You tell me yours and I'll tell you might. 5'8", differently gendered.
-
Yup. Saw my eye doc about three months ago. Usually a normal part of the passing of time.

Here is the latest greatest up to date graph.

Okay Folks, Here is an up to date, and hopefully legible chart of our challenge.
-
One more, with everybody so far.

Okay, I'm not chart making wizard. Here you go. I may try to spiff it up for next week. [/quote]

Someone asked me for their numbers over the contest. I have them all on a little spreadsheet. For some reason I thought it would be better to leave it up to you to keep tabs. Should I post the spreadsheet with all the numbers for everyone?

I am 159.0 this morning. - 2.6 - 159.0 + 3.8 + 0.4 - 1.6 - 1.2 - 2.0 + 1.2 - 1.8 - 2.6 - 1.8 167.2 - SW

Seesaa, Sorry you've been ill, but hey that is a fantastic week for the challenge. Get well soon (and keep up the great week)

HilarieXcore: Though computerless wanted us to have her Monday Weigh-in.

Wow, our two superheros Bluebird and Z are leveling out. This is going to be an interesting next couple of weeks. What does anyone suggest for us, after being "on it" for nine weeks now. How does one keep the ju-ju up for a final couple of week push?
-
Kaylou, this is a fantastic comeback. Keep it up.

This is a good one. It is ugly but going to be an interesting thing to follow. I had a decent week. On Saturday early morning a began a 48 hour non-stop road trip. No sleep, drinks, bad food, nothing but snacks, and still no more sleep. I just go home a bout five or six hours ago, had a very small snack, then went to bed.…

I can relate. I haven't had it as blatantly as you. In the last year I've dropped my BMI from 35 to 24. (Breaking through 25 was great) I"m about the same height/weight/age as you. I haven't had a long term plateau in the face of all my efforts. What's funny though is mental noise I'm dealing with. Initially I want a…

That's great. You can start up again not feeling like you've had a setback.....and you did have a cruise. A double win.

Wow, not nearly as high as I was expecting. 157.8, A weight GAIN week is something I'd like to not repeat. I guess it could have been worse. I kept my exercise up, my food choices were way down. 157.8 -WK8 +0.4 157.4 -WK7 -1.6 159.0 -WK6 -1.2 160.2 - WK5 -2.0 162.2 - WK4 +1.2 161.0 - WK3 -1.8 162.8 - WK2 -2.6 165.4 - WK1…

Funny, I know it happens, but I very often hear Women say this "it is easy to make friends with men." Less often I hear Men say "it is easier to make friends with women" Your Mileage May Very....it's what I have noticed.

A handful of fresh dates is the calorie content of a normal meal. I'm shocked. I just don't think this is too meaningful though. I eat four or five dates and I'm pretty sure that is healthy and a-okay.
-
I'll take it. My exercise routing was pretty weak this week. 157.4 -WK7 -1.6 159.0 -WK6 -1.2 160.2 - WK5 -2.0 162.2 - WK4 +1.2 161.0 - WK3 -1.8 162.8 - WK2 -2.6 165.4 - WK1 -1.8 167.2 - SW

JLSTEGEM left on a cruise. She pre-posted this weeks weigh-in --147 lbs.
-
That's fantastic. It was not that long ago I passed out of the "Red" zone. I had a "hurray I'm now 'Overweight'" celebration and people thought I was strange, but it is a significant milestone. Keep the momentum going.

I dropped 1.2 lbs this week. Not two, however, getting into the one-fifties feels great. 159.0 -WK6 -1.2 160.2 - WK5 -2.0 162.2 - WK4 +1.2 161.0 - WK3 -1.8 162.8 - WK2 -2.6 165.4 - WK1 -1.8 167.2 - SW

Hello, Congrats on your success so far. Diet and exercise bring about weight loss. BUT....and this is a big one, there is a much greater ability to have an impact on ones weight with modifying food intake, than modifying exercise. It sounds like you are relatively active, great. You can try to pull a Dean Karnazes and run…

"drop dead," nah after my year of hard work on MFP this is what it is like for me to live. I could not have run this race last year being obese. I'm not at my goal weight quite yet but this one of those NSV - not scale victories...to jog a fun local race.
-
Sort of the opposite problem, though maybe there is a solution for you too. As my gut, thighs, hips all decreased "my fellow" seems to be considerable more prominent. For you I am sure there is actual reduction, for me it is more the presentation/optical illusion. So, how it might help you...I think they will quickly…

I'm with you HilarieXcore, I'm very please with my 160.2, I didn't think I was going to do it. I have been preparing for a run, the S.F. Bay to Breakers. It was yesterday morning and a lot of fun. I haven't been able to do a run in over twenty years....so it feels pretty good. And, overall it was a really wild/fun event.…
