  • I know you are getting anxious. I would recommend making sure you have a protein mix that you like. It is really hard to drink some of the brands. When I got to the stage that I could eat pureed meats I used ground chicken or turkey with some mashed potatoes and a bit of canned soup. Also, ate a lot of scrambled eggs and…
  • :flowerforyou: Hey, at least you are honest with yourself and confronting some difficult feelings. Until lately after seeing a therapist for my food issues, I didn't really understand how strong of a food addiction I had. But I now call it what it is but still am struggling to confront it and make the changes. It sounds as…
  • I am so glad you shared this part of your journey. Sounds like Jackie was a God send at just the right time. Opening up ones self to change can seem impossible. Today your story came at a time when I needed to find motivation. Thanks so much and I will look forward to part 2!
  • I also had the gastric sleeve. The only powder protein I could tolerate was Unjury. I like the vanilla and chocolate splendor. My Nutritionist recommended using a magic bullet and she was so right. I don't know why but using the magic bullet really makes the shakes so much better than other blenders. I have been taking…
  • You are so right. I have been doing that same dance for the past 6 months. I know exactly what I am doing wrong then correct it then start messing up again. At my last appt. with my NUT. she did comment that some people don't ever lose the weight once their bodies get to a comfortable weight no matter what. Those people…
  • I know that one topic for me is what are healthy options when eating out at places that do not offer a lot of healthy choices. You might also talk more about which proteins are tolerable if you are going to be on shakes for awhile. I wasted a lot of money in the beginning buying products that I could not tolerate. Good luck
  • Hello Jerry! That weight does start taking a toll on all aspects of our life if it gets out of control,. Having your wife there offering support and willing to go on this journey with you is a great help. I has at 346lbs not even two years ago. No matter what route you take to improve your well being it is awesome that you…
  • Welcome to the group! It gets so much easier after the first couple months. Just remember to be mindful of your eating habits and you will do great.
  • Until this current weight loss, I would never get rid of any clothes. I would pack them away in space bags and store them in the basement. I am talking about 15 years worth of clothes I wouldn't want to wear now anyway. This summer I finally parted with most of them (there were a few things that still looked current). I am…
  • I know they are good. Up until yesterday I only ate the fudge brownie but tried the cinnamon and mmm...! They are not very filling but I try to eat very slow and make it last longer.
  • MFP is one of the greatest resources I have found on this journey. I first joined during my 3 month pre-op diet. Since then I stopped logging for awhile, but soon started up again after noticing how easy it is to fall into old habits. There is so much support here and information. Feel free to friend me if you like.
  • I do eat carbs but try only have them at one meal a day. That is what my NUT suggested. Sometimes I have them at lunch also if I am not satisfied with my food selection, but mostly at dinner because I am cooking for family eat with them.
  • I am usually to lazy to try most recipes, but this sounds so yummy and easy, I am definitely going to. If it has peanut butter , it has to be good! Thanks for sharing
  • doc19822 Believe me, there is always hope. I was in a similar situation not even 2 years ago. I am 56 yrs old and weighed 346 lbs and had many of the same health concerns, including sleep apnea, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, asthma and l extreme pain in legs and feet. After 3 years of contemplating I…
  • It will be a first for me also. I think that this challenge is coming at the perfect time for me. Just this week I have finally gotten back on track after about 5 months of total denial. CW 244 GW 228
  • Thanks for sharing your insight on emotional eating. I have recently started seeing a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. It has been 5 months, but finally at the last session I actually realized what triggered my last downward spiral. I can't even imagine getting to the point where I could ever figure out what…
  • Don't think you are alone. At least you did keep it off for a long period. You already know what it takes to make the rest happen and it sounds like you will. After only one year I have totally messed up and just this week feel that I have gotten back on track. I just have to remember how much I wanted this and worked so…
  • Now I buy everything online, mostly on ebay. I used to buy at Vitamin Shoppe both at a store or online. I no longer use protein powders but still shop for bars and a lot of supplements & vitamins required post-op bariatric surgery.
  • dward59 - Thanks for the support. I already have been sabotaging myself but didn't look at it that way. I am learning a lot with therapy about the underlying issues, but my food addiction must be very strong. I am determined to succeed with the weight loss even if it takes me a lot longer. Sounds as if you are handling it…
  • I am 13 months out and can say that I do not usually get hungry, but am always thinking about eating or craving something. It is definitely in my head, not my stomach. I have been at a standstill for several months. I started seeing a therapist to deal with this relationship I still have with food. It is frightening to…
  • I hear you! I have been slacking in certain areas and finding myself slipping into old habits. Sounds like you are on the right track. I wish you well. I am always looking for advice and motivation. Friend my if you like.
  • surgery date 7/6/12 starting weight 343 (at initial cosult.) hightes weight 346 currently 242 (goes up & down 4 lbs) lost 101 lbs personal goal is 197 lbs (not getting any closer for the past 3-4 months any suggestions? )
  • Believe me you are not alone. I struggle everyday with some of my old habits. I am just over a year out and this is how I am feeling about temptation and making exceptions. I wish I had never even once let myself eat more or faster or unwise choices after surgery. I know we are human and can't be perfect, but letting any…
  • This a great site for motivation and accountability. I personally find that if I log my food in prior to my meals, I stick to the plan better. Also, make sue you are totally honest what food you log, if you don't put everything down. your progress will be slower. PS you should be glad he thinks you look good enough to wear…
  • Welcome! I just read your post and know by now you are probably doing great! I am 12 months out and also still looking for friends that share the same challenges. Feel free to add me and I wish you success.
  • I am glad you are giving it another try. I find that even if I am totally screwing up, logging onto MFP keeps me somewhat in the zone. I can't even imagine how bad I would be doing otherwise. I am still trying to figure out why is soooo... difficult to accept the fact that this is a lifetime commitment. The battle is never…
  • I have a long history of plantar fasciitus and it can really stop you in your tracks. My Podiatrist has told me to always wear . Birkenstocks in the house. It took me awhile to get used to them, but my feel are in heaven.. I still wear my orthotics, but I have no pain in my feet. Also, I never stopped doing my stretches in…
